As you now can build aqueducts, you should create an aqueduct to channel the bad water all together into an industrial area, including bad water bypass aqueducts form the water sources above the village

That is absolutely the plan. Just have to get enough metal first

That hole near the dead birch is prime estate to put a dump and have a nice safe green land away from badwater

I've started playing outside of my comfort zone as folktails a few days ago on this map update 5, and 2 things that I'd say are smart to do are: 1. Block the badwater near your tree farm, so that it goes to the other side of the map giving you more green land. 2. Build a huge dam to prevent badtides from reaching you by using floodgates and opening the barrier at the top of the mountain. This is how I did it on my playthrough, but I don't like getting metal early on in the game. So if you do get metal it is probably easier to use contamination barriers.
@bjbilyk6 ай бұрын
You have foresters, no reason to save that clump of pines, cut them all and just replant when you're ready for tapping. Also, bad tide diversion is tough on this map. Looking forward to seeing your solution.
@IamHattman6 ай бұрын
Progress suggestions: putting up a dam for the batwater source that is mixing with the fresh water just past the town. You can have it run off the back side of the mountain. Setting up windmills by the metal supply so you can run a smelter there. Its more hauler efficient to smelt on site. The badwatwr from a badtide can be ejected out the back of that upper basin between the two water sources. I think theres a blockage to remove that allows for that. Those should all be pretty reachable once the oaks start coming in. Id probably focus on the badtide solution. The forst one of those is going to kill all of your oaks.
@necropaw6 ай бұрын
Putting up levees to divert the badwater away as you described is usually my strategy on this map, as well. If nothing else (especially on normal) you can dam up the river a bit farther down after doing that and get a ton of extra land to grow stuff on.
@thomasfplm6 ай бұрын
I'm not sure having the smelter near the ruins is better, you'd have to get logs there and then bring the metal back, instead of bringing only the scrap down.
@IamHattman6 ай бұрын
@thomasfplm taking logs there can be done on the same trip as bringing back block of metal I'm fairly sure.

@Hobbityfus6 ай бұрын
Maybe priority for the next should be water diversion. A few levees for the close badwatersource should be enough, then you can use the metal for the contamination barriers for something else. With slouces you should have an easy time to prepare your main source for a badtide. Maybe a second forester on the lower part of the river after diverting the closest badwatersource over the other side of the mountain? Then you have the farmers monument in no time! (There seems to be a useful little pool you could access on the other side of the lower river bank for a giant forest)

I seem to remember they go into antidote? - that lumberjack up at the water source has run out of trees to jack. Yo uialso have 2 unemployed beavers before deleting that, so maybe up the haulers 8with reduced priority) - one beaver had a broken tooth, but died before you noticed, You should add a toothgrinder

I agree with what some others have said, you could dam the badwater polluting your water source to have more useable land cheaper than making the barriers.
@AbandonTheWest6 ай бұрын
Your North wood gatherer flag, near the waterfalls, you could have ran a straight line up the mountain only using 3 potential spaces for the path, than the 8 required for the path coming off the levee where it is now. Essentially thats 5 extra trees planted! Sorry, to be a pain. My mind works for efficiency. Lol.
@targetdreamer2576 ай бұрын
Right now there are now logs for it and the bad water mixes with the fresh water but you could put in a dam at the down stream outlet. I have noticed that as long as the bad water is not 100% it still keeps things green. By damming up down stream you would increase the growing area. You can also pump out of a mix it'll just be at a lower efficiency
@thomasfplm6 ай бұрын
As the concentration of bad water grows, the distance it irrigates reduces, until it reaches 50%, when it no longer irrigates and starts to contaminate the nearby soil, contaminating further, the bigger the concentration.

Instead of irrigation/contamination barriers how about leading the badwater that contaminate the oaks away in a aqueduct? And maby you should start planning for how to divert the badwater when the bad tide comes before it actually starts.
@IamHattman6 ай бұрын
That's pretty far into the tech tree, and a ton of resources. For now it can be damed and allowed to flow out the other side of that mountain.
@skrymerU6 ай бұрын
@@IamHattman the contamination barriers are also quite a bit up the tech tree and there are not really any need for stopping the corruption there. Ther aren't any rush to get rid of it, so he could wait until he has more resources to do something nice. It's probably more important to start planing for what should happen when the bad tide comes.
@IamHattman6 ай бұрын
@skrymerU That's why I suggested using a dam. Levees are pretty low tech and solve the problem nicely.

@@skrymerU Yes, that's the same area I'm talking about. It comes down from the mountain just to the left of the stairs that were built this episode. That can be plugged with a levee so it flows out the other side of the mountain, keeping the area with the oaks safe.
