Idk how I feel about that. On 1 hand it works for the scene and does build tension well. But on the other feels like a cheap way to get a child actor to be able to act. Same with the It film from 2017. The adults on set just kinda really scared the kids to get a reaction out of them. Imo a good director and casting director can have a child actor portray these emotions without actually having to in real life scare them or something. It's kinda different when dealing with child actors, feels a little exploitative imo vs getting an adult actor's real reaction.

For me, the Jedi council, pushed A LOT Anakin to the dark side. They´re afraid of him, never truly trusted him, never gave him any serious mission... and mixed with Anakin fears (mostly for Padme) and feeling himself always excluded... the final step was all the Emperor´s manipulation during years but... the Jedi Council had big part of responsibility in this disaster. Even in the last chance he said the truth to Windu. Anakin tried and tried to follow the right path, but all these things became him in Darth Vader. The Emperor was right, unfortunately, when he said something about the "dogmatic and narrow view of the Jedi". They were blinded...

Great take, and I agree, even with Yoda as my favorite character lol. The only thing is that if you watch Clone Wars we can see that the council did give Anakin tons of responsibility in leading the 501st, the notoriously strongest legion of clones. I think that's why he was so upset about not being named Master, since he was responsible for countless wins throughout the galaxy and yet they still didn't trust him. Although important to note that if he would have just listened to the Jedi code and not married Padme.... That's why its so problematic that he wasn't raised there since he was a kid. he had already felt love and attachment and couldn't align with the Jedi code... my favorite tragic and beautiful story in modern media!

all of this was a test for him to become a jedi Master, Anakin wanted the title of Master handed to him like a spoiled brat--it's not how things work.
@thebosstex11722 ай бұрын
@carlop.7182 but the thing is the Jedi council also distrusted Anakin way too abruptly, ever since Anakin was a boy even. Qui-gon Jinn was right all along when he tried to get the Jedi council to be more open minded towards Anakin. But instead they didn’t listen to Qui-gon’s wisdom, but instead judged Anakin too harshly, pushing him to him breaking point. Anakin was frustrated rightfully so because he knew the Jedi Council didn’t trust him, because they were afraid of what they sensed concerning him the day they first met him. But they failed to realize that they being so hard on him through unnecessary distrust is what made their fears become a reality. Anakin became what the Jedi made him, by quickly judging him with complete lack of trust in him from the start. Anakin wouldn’t have turned to the dark side so easily if the Jedi Council wasn’t so hard on him. And even Obi-wan at times may have been guilty of judging him so harshly too quickly at times, but ended up trying to support Anakin as much as he could; he however probably should have objected more often when the Jedi Council harshly judged Anakin. Yoda and Obi-wan came to realize this downfall of Anakin turning to the dark side was their fault, along with most of the Jedi. The Jedi were very arrogant and ignorant on how they judged Anakin. Anakin wouldn’t have become so frustrated and angry as he became if they didn’t project their fears on him. The things they sensed about Anakin the first day they met him, those dark things came true years later because the jedi judged him so harshly. The Jedi were trying to prevent those things from becoming true, but that led them to being too hard on him to where they made come true what they were trying to prevent from coming true. Their fears caused them to judge him harshly, which they did in order to prevent him from turning, but all it did was made him turn! This is why Yoda said, “Into exile, I must go. Failed, I have” and why Obi-wan said “I have failed you Anakin! I have failed you!” And also why ten years later he said, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Anakin, for all of it!” Obi-wan being sorry for all of the truly unfair treatments the Jedi put him through all because they were unnecessarily afraid of him, which fear caused them to judge him so harshly, which in turn is what pushed him to the dark side. He turned because he was afraid of losing Padmé, yes, but he also turned because after everything he went through with the Jedi over the years he became convinced that the Jedi were scum or worse. And Darth Sidious played upon Anakin’s frustrations with the Jedi to manipulate him into further descending into the dark side, brainwashing him by manipulating him. The Jedi only made things easier for Darth Sidious to manipulate Anakin into turning to the dark side. Darth Sidious played upon everything: what frustrations Anakin was going through with the Jedi Council, and Anakin’s fear of losing Padmé. The Jedi were to a big degree to blame for why Anakin turned to the dark side, and that’s what Yoda and Obi-wan realized. It’s why Yoda said “Into exile, I must go. Failed, I have” and why Obi-wan said, “I have failed you, Anakin! I have failed you!” (in 19 BBY), and why Obi-wan said “I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Anakin, for all of it” ten years later (in 9 BBY) in the Obi-wan Kenobi series.

It's a subtle detail of the second and third film, Obi-Wan and the Council are always critical of Anakin, even when it's not needed. Then the next scene is always Palpatine sneaking praise to Anakin directly, or praising him to others. Anakin gravitated towards Palpatine, a grandfather-figure, as Obi-Wan treated Anakin like a little brother, rather than being the father figure he needed. Combine that with the Council beginning to take digs at Anakin because of their dislike of the Chancellor, while at the same time expecting Anakin to spy for them without having the courage to ask him directly, pushes a person who values loyalty in another direction. The Jedi beginning doing thing against their code, combine that with Mace openly stating he didn't trust Anakin, then trying to kill a person Anakin has no reason to distrust, is the final push into the arms of the devil. By movie's end, Anakin is buried by anger and lies, he has no reason to live, nothing but his new identity in his mechanical prison to live on as... Until cracks in the persona begins to form one day, when he learns of his son.

FROM THE MOVIE NOVEL: This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker, forever: The first dawn of light in your universe brings pain. The light burns you. It will always burn you. Part of you will always lie upon black glass sand beside a lake of fire while flames chew at your flesh. You can hear yourself breathing. It comes hard, and harsh, and it scrapes nerves already raw, but you cannot stop it. You can never stop it. You cannot even slow it down. You don’t even have lungs anymore. Mechanisms hardwired into your chest breathe for you. They will pump oxygen into your bloodstream forever. "Lord Vader? Lord Vader, can you hear me?" And you can’t, not in the way you once did. Sensors in the shell that prisons your head trickle meaning directly into your brain. You open your scorched-pale eyes; optical sensors integrate light and shadow into a hideous simulacrum of the world around you. Or perhaps the simulacrum is perfect, and it is the world that is hideous. 'Padme? Are you here? Are you all right?' you try to say, but another voice speaks for you, out from the vocabulator that serves you for burned-away lips and tongue and throat. "Padme? Are you here? Are you all right?" "I’m very sorry, Lord Vader. I’m afraid she died. It seems in your anger, you killed her." This burns hotter than the lava had. "No…no, it is not possible!" You love her. You have always loved her. You could never will her death. Never. But you remember… You remember all of it. You remember the dragon that you brought Vader forth from your heart to slay. You remember the cold venom in Vader’s blood. You remember the furnace of Vader’s fury, and the black hatred of seizing her throat to silence her lying mouth… And there is one blazing moment in which you finally understand that there was no dragon. That there was no Vader. That there was only you. Only Anakin Skywalker. That it was all you. Is you. Only you. You did it. You killed her. You killed her because, finally, when you could have saved her, when you could have gone away with her, when you could have been thinking about her, you were thinking about yourself… It is in this blazing moment that you finally understand the trap of the dark side, the final cruelty of the Sith - Because now yourself is all you will ever have. And you rage and scream and reach through the Force to crush the shadow who has destroyed you, but you are so far less now than what you were. You are more than half machine, you are like a painter gone blind, a composer gone deaf, you can remember where the power was but the power you can touch is only a memory, and so with all your world-destroying fury it is only droids around you that implode, and equipment, and the table on which you were strapped shatters, and in the end, you cannot touch the shadow. In the end, you do not even want to. In the end, the shadow is all you have left. Because the shadow understands you, the shadow forgives you, the shadow gathers you unto itself- And within your furnace heart, you burn in your own flame. This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker. Forever…

Anakin turning on his loved ones and the Dark Side so quickly has some reeasoning behind it. 1. He is still very young. He is a 23 year old forced to lead troops in a galactic wide war. He is extremely jaded and probably jumped at a solution to the war, whithout all the jedi and republics deliberating. He mentions the peace he brought a lot whily deflecting from his guilt. 2. The dark side is like a drug. Despite what Disneys films want to imply, using the Dark Side has no safe option. Even a little makes you slowly turn into a worse person. Palpatine is so effective with it because he was a born Psychopath and had no Morals that needed to deteriorate. Thats also why his face is so deformed and anakins eyes turn yellow. The Dark Side is like a drug eating away at you. 3. Anakin is even different in his speech pattern and body language after killing everyone in the Temple. He ,,blackened his Soul" by doing vile things to get a stronger connection with the dark side. Only then could he learn all those techniques. 4. He was repressing his emotions for 13 years. That is okay for regular jedi since they are raised to live that way. But Anakin wasnt. He was literaly like a Cola bottle just waiting for a Mentos to be dropped in it. That is also why after calming down and waking up in the suit, he immediatly asks after Padmes Safety. Obi Wan coming with her was the worst thing that could have happened. I am in no way excusing his actions. He is my favourite Character in fiction, but like many who fell to the dark side its still partially his fault. The force being in balance is destroying the sith because the galaxy is in balance when people live in harmony, instead of taking for themselves. Anakin hates the Jedi Order and Council by this time: Reminder, the Jedi Council: 1. They expelled his padawan, Ahsoka, after she was framed. The Council found her guilty in a kangaroo court and put her in a military tribunal that would have guaranteed her subsequent execution. Anakin personally witnessed this, and was enraged. He scambled to prove her innocence and when he finally did, his padawan's trust in the Order and Council had been destroyed, so she left. 2. Kept him on the outside when deciding to use Obi-Wan as an undercover operative. He was gaslit and lied to for several rotations. When the truth came out, all he got from Obi-Wan and the Council was an "oops, hey it turned out okay in the end". 3. Despite his military success, he was never granted the role of Jedi Master. He thoroughly deserved it, and the only person to ever acknowledge and thus address Anakin with this title was the Chancellor himself: "I hope you have a reason for bursting in on our proceedings, Master Skywalker." The Jedi Order was willing to hold kangaroo courts to kick out their own on favorable terms, gaslight and tear close people apart for a "mission", and didn't always give people the title they deserved. Anakin had all reason to be enraged at them all.

Anakin isn't wrong in feeling that the Jedi were conspiring against him and that they did not trust him, in fact the majority of the Jedi Order were quite open in their dislike and hostility towards him; something that made it very difficult for Obi-Wan whom himself went from "don't disagree with the Council again" to "the Council is asking this, not me" which is enormous for someone born, raised, and indoctrinated from day one. Anakin's access to the Jedi Archives, the Training Rooms, and the Holocrons (Ancient Jedi that made a teaching A.I. called a Gatekeeper using the Force to create an imprint of themselves/their knowledge) were at the same level as the average fourteen year old Padawan while he was a Knight in the Order, a General in the GAR, and had been doing missions for the Jedi since he was nine back to back fixing the leaks in the Republic while the causes of the problem were ignored by the Jedi/Republic entirely yet wouldn't allow any criticism or suggestions. He was an unwanted savior created by and sent to them by the Force which they, on the whole, felt was unnecessary and unneeded; that they were perfectly fine on their own and were correct about everything. The rank of Jedi Master comes with unlimited access to all of that. He was taught the very, very basics of lightsaber combat and the Force yet his first Force Push had more power than any five Jedi Masters (save Yoda, Fisto, and Windu) at 10 years old despite having had little practice and barely any training. They knew if he was allowed access to the same knowledge as others his age, he'd genuinely rival Yoda before he was legally allowed to drink. He was genuinely treated as a slave; told where to go, what to do, forbidden from speaking most of the tiime, forbidden from showing emotions, forbidden from any real relationships, and was one wrong move from life in a secret Jedi Prison without possibility of either parole or a trial. He can't leave when he wants to, unlike some Jedi, as he was "too dangerous to be outside of Jedi custody". So he fixed their problems without thanks or rewards, covered up corruption or was told to outright go along with it/ignore it, had to turn away from those in need (the entire reason he wanted to be a Jedi), served a government incapable of fulfilling its most basic duties while most politicians engaged in slavery or some sort of business with the Hutts, allowed "indentured servitude", and plainly did not work at all, a Republic he was not allowed Citizenship in and didn't believe in. Then he's told to fight their wars, to lead armies on hellish planets, and ordered to do things against the Jedi Code over and over again while he was betrayed by them or had the closest people to him betrayed by the Order without hesitation while being explicitly lied to. He's saved entire quadrants of the galaxy and most of the Jedi Order's lives by this point, never allowed a break or a vacation and still expected to be completely obedient while being treated with blatant disrespect, distrust, and alienation with subpar training from his older brother figure whom was directly ordered to hold back on teaching the boy any skills within the Force even in the middle of war. On top of it all, he is kept severely isolated with most communications either "unavailable" or heavily monitored when available. I'd be pissed off, too. The Jedi no longer served the Force or its Will and had abandoned all independance in favor of complete reliance upon an undeniably failed and corrupted government that they used the Force to prop up as it continuously gets worse over the centuries; weaker and weaker until the only reason the Hutts did not conqueor it was Sith shenagens and because they did not have to do so...because they already owned the majority of its most powerful sectors through their senators. The Sith won a thousand years earlier, all they had to do was wait for it all to fall apart on its own.

@mattkylie67232 ай бұрын
The beginning of the downfall of Anakin was how he was taken from his mother in the first Star Wars movie, I mean; in the republic the Jedi were identified at very early age, however the practical means by which they were incorporated into the academy were a lot more considerate, .. although he was freed by the deal Ben Kenobi’s teacher (Qui gon Jinn) made with Watto, .. it was way he was freed, and the circumstance, .. to take this child away from his mother in such a way began the unreconcilable ripples within the force!! picked up on within Jedi council session via Yoda & Mace windu, these ripples intensified during Anakin’s enrolment and early training, causing slight contempt for the council, and especially when learning they’re trust in him wasn’t sincere because of his force abilities. So in conclusion the Jedi order actually helped with the early stages of Vader’s creation not only by principle but more so practice In light of episode III Palpatine was controlling nearly everything!! however slight/subtle his manipulation of Anakin was nothing short of perfect, again based upon the vacuum in his life of no parents, although Ben Kenobi was like a father figure to him, His loyalty was first to the council which was also an underline problem between them, so in many respects Anakin felt alone, and it was the subtle encouragement of the chancellor (Palpatine) to engage and continue in exploring his passion and of course personal needs .. enter Padme, so I’m certainly in the understanding that he also arranged for her to have lesser role in politics as to be able to submerge into a more secretive relationship with Anakin, all the while slowly edging him more and more to the chancellors wishes.

It will surely take awhile for you to react to the entire Clone Wars tv show, but it is absolutely worth the watch, and is certainly not "just a kids show" as some may dismiss it, despite being designed/broadcast to a younger target audience, the show is still full of dark and interesting themes/content, and adds a ton of context that really makes future re-watches of the movies so much more impactful, especially as it really draws out and shows the more realistic and slow descent of Anakin into a darker and darker mentality that makes his eventual turn so much more believable. So much so that many fans don't even really blame him much for being so receptive to Palpatine's manipulation. As many others have surely said, Anakin's relationship with the Jedi themselves is certainly a major factor that isn't really shown much in the movies, but makes for a great watch in the Show. To Anakin, Palpatine is a mentor and trusted friend - however strange that may seem to outsiders. Palpatine knew how Anakin came to be after meeting him for the first time (birthed by the force), because it had something to do with his own Sith master, and decided early on that he wanted Anakin as his apprentice. There is a theory that explains very well how Padme's death occurred. It is so compelling and logical that it makes a lot of sense to many. The theory says that it is actually Sidious who kills her through Sith magic, the emperor knew a lot about that, it is through the necklace that Anakin gave him, that Sidious was able to kill her by cursing the necklace and draining her life force through it. That's why Sidious knew she was dead, he felt her through the force and blamed Anakin for that so he would feel guilty, leading him more to the dark side and so he could manipulate Anakin better. It makes sense because it's in the same moment Padme died, Vader was born. Actually if you think about it ,Vader could not exist with Padme alive since she would never approve Dark Anakin and making him return to the light side and escaping Sidious's clutches. The emperor knew this perfectly well so he made sure that Padme died.

They are kinda like side missions. Force Awakens, last jedi, and rise of Skywalker are much more connected like how the original and prequel films are. They're a trilogy. Solo and rogue one are just kinda random adventures, not part of some grand trilogy or anything. Kathleen Kennedy who was chosen by George Lucas to become the new leader while he retired was tasked to make a star wars film every year. So she would release ep 7 force awakens to continue the grand story. One interpretation as to how Anakin survived and Padme died is that Darth Sidious made good on his promise to Anakin to save others from dying. However he doesn't inform Anakin that it takes a life to save a life. So Sidious is reaching maybe his full potential as the Dark side of the Force peaks, and he takes Padme's life force so Anakin may survive the procedure that makes him more machine than man. And that is the betrayal of Anakin. His life is saved with the sacrifice of Padme. The droids don't know anything of the Force and what's happening, so they just describe it as her "losing the will to live." Sidious tells Darth Vader that in his anger, he killed her, Vader replies, "she was alive! I felt it" He doesn't mean that he felt her on Mustafar, he means he felt her while he was on the mechanic operating table. What he probably felt was her life force being put into his. That could be wrong, but it's one possibility.

This is such a good movie and there are a tons of great moments in it. It's my 2nd favourite in the series between Empire Strikes back and Rouge One. Your frustration throughout the movie was really sweet and super relatable, that's exactly how all of us felt. Anakin should never have been raised as a Jedi. They usually take the kids very early on, as soon as they show signs of being Force Sensitive so they're pretty much in "pristine" condition emotionally. They dont even remember who their parents were. Anakin was heavily traumatized by the time he started his training, he and his mother was sold as a slave plus I imagine he has seen some nasty stuff on Tatooine as a child. During his entire time in a Jedi temple everyone was telling him he is the Chosen One, so by the time the Clone Wars starts he developed a solid God complex so obviously his ego was hurt every time they treated him as a padawan. Things just escalated rapidly from there. He lost his Mom, he massacred the Tuskens, his hormons are all around the place as a teenager, he is literally a soldier in a war and commanding hundreds of clone troopers, hiding his relationship with Padme building up a considerable amount of guilt over that and the whole time Palpatine was manipulating him, being a father figure to him, a father he never had. Really sad but very nicely done character arc. ( Clone Wars adds a LOT of context to it, you should watch it ) Few answers to your questions: Leia's memories about her Mom is a plothole, dont mind it. Vader means Father in Dutch so Palpatine apparently of Dutch origin lol. ( Thats where Lucas got the name from ). You've guessed it right that Darth Plagueis was Palpatine's master. The Sith has been working on this plan for over a thousand years, slowly moving the pieces into position, taking over mega-corporations to gain influence over key assets, orchestrating conflicts and smaller wars to create the political situations to have the results they wanted and slowly push the Galaxy towards and all out war. His master died ( Palpatine killed him ) during the events of the Phantom Menace. I highly recommend to read or listen to the audiobook version the novel called Darth Plagueis if you are interested, its pretty good they've done some wild stuff. In lights of what I know of Plagueis I believe Palpatine was using some sort of Sith Magic to keep Anakin's alive and somehow used Padme to do that. They already had a very strong emotional connection and he used the Force to connect with her like he said, he felt that she was still alive. The Wookies as you know are extremely strong sentient creatures so the Empire basically enslaved their world and use them as a slave workforce all around the Galaxy. The rewatch value of this movie is pretty high, there are so many neat little thing to appreciate. Here is a few: When Anakin said to Palpatine about Obi-Wan that his fate will be the same as ours. All three of them died on a Death Star. The lava planet called Mustafar and that is where Vader will build his castle and that will be his "home" where he retreats. Mustafar is originated from the muslim name Mustafa which means Chosen One. During the Order 66 scene the Jedi with the pointy head ( Ki-Adi Mundi ) was not killed by the clones. He sensed that the clones were turning against him, so he turned around to face them and deflected all their shots. He was killed by the droids from behind. In my opinion you should watch the Clone Wars, its some of the very best Star Wars stories out there. The animation style in the first 2 seasons are pretty rough ( they had no animation department so they were figuring out from the basics ) and some of the stories a aimed towards children but by season 3 it gets really good and the themes become way more adult and really dark at times. You could bunch them up in packs of 3-6 per video so it would not take as long to get through them, but they're really worth a watch they add a lot of context to the movies and they're a lot of fun.

You mentioned Anakin’s new scar, and also noted General Grievous’ coughing. If you really want to know what those are actually all about, I suggest watching Genndy Tartakovsky’s “Clone Wars.” Now, to be clear, this is NOT the Clone Wars series you’re thinking of. It was an officially sanctioned series of 15-minute short cartoons that aired on Cartoon Network over the weeks leading up to the premiere of “Revenge of the Sith” in theaters. This was THE official “Clone Wars” until Disney decided to declare it to be no longer canon because they wanted to make their own much longer Clone Wars series. But George Lucas worked directly with Genndy Tartakovsky on the cartoons, and they made “Revenge of the Sith” such that, if you didn’t see Tartakovsky’s cartoons then you didn’t know the backstory on several elements that were present in “Revenge of the Sith.” The cartoons conclude with General Grievous kidnapping Chancellor Palpatine, and with the reason that Grievous is now coughing; and the last frame of the cartoon is literally the first frame of “Revenge of the Sith” (kind of like how “Rogue One” leads directly into Episode IV).

Samuel Jackson's lightsaber is purple, amethyst if you want to get specific, not pink. Lightsaber color indicates your alignment with the force, blue means you're a defender, green means that you're a knowledge seeker, purple means you dabble in both light and dark side of the force basically and red always means dark side affiliation, there are many more colors then just these four and they all mean different things.

It is important to understand. Palpatine trained him to be the evil guy. He also wanted him to reach his full potential and maybe become his successor. So he mentored him from 8 years old. He planted the dreams of Shmi and Padme. In the clone wars he sent him to places to see thing and change him. He literally orchestrated the whole Clone Wars - so I still like Anakin. There was a subplot that was dropped in which Obi-Wan was supposed to be Padmé, side lover... Of course, it would have thrown aside Luke and Leia's parentage... so they dropped it. But Anakin's reaction when Padmé told him Obi-Wan came in the morning and his reaction when Obi-Wan appears on Mustafar are remnants of that subplot. Palpatine enjoys it, of course, he spent over twenty years crafting the perfect crisis to get himself into the supreme power position to rule over the galaxy. And the Dark Side is like a drug, he's quite high on it too... As Padmé's death, Anakin is responsible, unknowlingly using his own bond to her to stay alive through his rage and hatred by the way of the Dark Side. One more reason for a Jedi to not form attachments. As for red lightsabers, the Kyber Crystal inside it gives the Jedi saber their color but for a red one, the Crystal must be "bled" through use of the Dark Side, it takes some time, it's not automatic.

The memories of Padme that Princess Leia refers to in episode 6 are (in my opinion) of pictures. The word "images" is what Leia actually said. And the feeling of sadness she mentioned, I believe, are through the force. I've always thought that the force was strong enough in leia, that she could sense and remember her mother's sadness in the few moments they had together. But, that's the story I've always had in my head. I saw the first Star Wars in theaters in 1977 when I was just 5. So I've thought about these movies (possibly a little too much, lol) for a while. So maybe that's what she meant. But I could very well be wrong. So, have a great day and May the Force be with you!!

Many people have the theory that Palpatine used her life force to save Anakin, but honestly, it can all be explained dwith it's just the will of the Force. Anakin is indeed the Chosen one and he does destroy the Sith but for everything to play out as it did, Padme had to die. Also, the Jedi had become corrupt and a shade of their former selves. You will explore that way more in the Clone Wars, but they were basically asking for it at this point, especially after completely missing a Sith lord next to them for over 10 years, who also took complete control of the Republic. Their distrust towards Anakin goes back to episode 1 too, so he is not really imagining it.
