cloth diapers was all I used way back when my boys were babs. They were a square cloth that had to be made up and 2 baby safety pins to fasten. They were sterilised in a bucket with nappy san and then hung out to dry on the clothes line. Just part of the daily baby routine. I didn't have twins but they were 22mths apart so it was funny when I had a new born with a toddler fitting the nappy around one very tiny body and one much larger - the best of times, enjoy it all, they grow so fast

Best cloth diaper wipes are just an old t-shirt cut up into squares! They "grab" poop really well, and are nice and flexible to get into nooks and crannies. Plus, they're free!

Our biggest game changer for the open air accidents for our twins were wipes warmers. Maybe you could use warm water on your reusable wipes? We also made sure the area we changed them was nice and warm. I got sick of washing the changing pad cover so we switched to a keekaroo and it’s one of number one must haves. I think it’s more sanitary, and it’s less laundry for me. I can wipe it down between babies if I need to sanitize. I got mine with a 20% off buy buy baby coupon because they are more expensive.

Walmart and amazon sell waterproof liners to lay on the changing pad! This saves from having to wash the changing pad cover a million times when they pee or poop on it. They are really long and wide so it just lays right on top. When they have an accident just throw that in the laundry and put another on top for the next change instead of having to change the entire cover! Used them all the time with my daughter and twin boys!

Peakaboo change. Its the cooler air thats making them go open the dirty diaper expose to the air and close it up until they go potty.

We always ever used baby washcloths instead of wipes. They are thinner than those wipes. The only time we ever had diaper rash was using disposable wipes. Our pedi always said I made whole breast milk because my 5lb baby was 15lbs in 3months

Oh the cloth diapers bring back memories. My daughter Lindsay used cloth diapers for her babies. She had so many in all designs and colors. In the beginning, it was like a diaper with a baby in it. They were so big. But the babies had allergies so the cloth ones were perfect.
@cheyennegreer35487 жыл бұрын
If you slide the clean diaper under them before you take the dirty one off it is easier also. Also if you undo the front of the diaper and like "fan" it them put it right back down they will re wet the wet one. Or if you pull he top down a little and gently "blow" air then put it back on them so they can re wet it. . What makes them pee as soon as the diaper is off, is when the air hits them, peeing is their reaction basically.

I used g diapers when I was potty training my kids. Cloth doesn't wick away the urin so they catch on quicker. Side note: does Brad have a Stemboat Springs hoodie? We live in Colorado and we love Stemboat! 😊

I always found that opening the dirty diaper wiping real quick and leaving a wipe over it worked pretty well and just putting the dry diaper underneath very quickly and change. I had also read to take a cool wipe and wipe across top of diaper on skin below belly button before. Seemed to work.

Or even in a few weeks. :) I am expecting a little man in May and I'm really getting on board with the cloth diapering thing, but so many options and I don't know anyone to ask about it all. Like, do you use the viscose biodegradable liners? Or, what about the bamboo charcoal liners? What is your favorite brand? As this all seems to change a bit with more experience, just please keep giving us the updates! Your persistence is encouraging for the rest of us!! :-) Oh and also, where to find all of these mommy swaps & co-ops?

Have you tried Denman feeding at night? That is basically you wait for them to wake and tell you they are hungry and then feed them. You may find that you can get about 5hrs of sleep at night instead of only 2 or 3 hrs.

First off I have to say they are both super cute! Second what I do with my lo is I put a wet cloth on his belly and open his diaper and wait, ive been told by many people that the cold can trigger them to pee as well as releasing the pressure on the belly, since I started doing that I haven't had any accidents
@baileysmith78007 жыл бұрын
I saw somewhere that if you wipe across their belly right under their bellybutton with a wipe before you open their diaper, it encourages them to pee in the diaper. Don't know if it actually works but it couldn't hurt to try!!

Oh, so much cuteness! Those little baby legs sticking out of those fluffy diapers. I'm so glad the cloth diapering is going well, I know how much it meant to you. Looks like all the shopping and preparing ahead of time really helped things go smoothly. I would say you did not overbuy and that it must be nice to not worry about running out. I had no idea that you didn't have to rinse them out before putting them in the washer. I wonder if it is the same for formula fed babies?
@BradandRach7 жыл бұрын

Breastmilk is amazing! That's too bad for those that have to supplement. I had to with my first no matter what I tried, nursing on demand, every supplement known to man. Lactation consultant called it. My 2nd I had no problems luckily. Of course, I don't need this info for myself. Way beyond that stage in my life. I was thinking though it might be information someone that is cloth diapering should probably know in case they have to supplement. That is NOT a mistake you would want to make. Eeew...

From experience with boys I've learned to put the clean diaper open under the dirty one. Wipe the poop away or wash off the old pew. Quickly slide the old dieper out while closing the new one.. I've yet to have an OAA! At first it didn't work because I was too slow, but now I'm kinda a pro. I hope all is well and your living parenthood! P.S grandma's rock!!!

For thinner cloth wipes to use as needed buy some cheap baby wash cloths at like dollar tree. Those things are very thin but about the same size as your wipes.
@betweenthebeautifull7 жыл бұрын
At their size the snaps should definitely be on the shortest rise. I dont think the diaper will go above their belly button. The snaps are something you need to feel out. If theyre too loose youll know it! They can be snug without making them uncomfortable. Just see how it feels with your finger tucked in there. I highly suggest a diaper sprayer once your babies are eating solids. They hook up to the toilet. Awesome things! Good luck!! I really enjoyed cloth diapering my first born!!

I was told to wipe around the top of his diaper with a cold wipe before you take the diaper off and it will make him pee before the old diaper comes off, and there won’t be the urine left to pee once you do. We haven’t had our little guy yet so I can’t say if that works but maybe worth a shot!

It's the cold air that's triggering the peeing. open the diaper then close it so he can empty his bladder into the first diaper instead of the clean onr. My mother made flannel diapers for my son (41yrs ago), we still used diaper pins and rubber pants with them back then. The cloth diapers my daughter used on her son (4 yrs ago) we're a total surprise for me. No pins!

They look so much thicker than when my kids had them in the 80’s I used to prefold when dry.into a kite shape with the added disposable liner then pin either side and yes my fingers did get pricked sometimes when I was fastening the pin shut. But they saved me hundreds of pounds. Ps what about getting some men’s handkerchiefs for washable wipes. They are cotton and thinner

Tracy Cook sounds like my mum used the same type of cloth diapers as you, she still has them to this day and they are now used as cleaning cloths but I even used them as swaddles for dolls as a kid! Cloth diapers are definitely very different these days, but I don't think its a bad thing. My mum used them from 87 into the early 90s, but these days you dont have to fold or prick yourself with pins so you don't prick the baby.

At this stage the middle rise snaps should be snapped.....you want to watch the size of the leg holes, they should be snug with no gaps or you will get leaks. The tummy band should be snug as well.....not tight but snug....if you can run your fingers between baby's tummy and the diaper it's loose enough. Congrats on your twins.......they are beautiful :)

Mom of 4 here, (3 boys) (cloth diapered 2 kids w pins and plastic pants). Diapers below the belly button. Work on your speed skills. The faster the little boy parts are covered, the better. Diapers should be tight-ish. Not so they leave a mark, but definitely snug and secure. Men's hankies, thin flannel, or even cut up old t-shirts work well for wiping in small creases.

You may want to move his clothes from under him while changing him. That will prevent him from wetting his clothes. When my son was a baby, I would put a small baby wash cloth over his "birdie". The funniest thing happened when he was a few days old. I was changing his diaper and my mama was leaning over him to talk to him. He peed in her face.

That diaper was way too loose. Your gonna have leaking. The elastic needs to crest a “seal” around their legs. You need the rise snapped on the tightest and the waist can go tighter as well. Until they start sitting 1 finger in between the diaper and tummy is fine. Once they start moving around you’ll need 2
