Thanks ! Lyrics and all ...... another R&B number from a beloved New Orleans great. Not as 'old' as some they play, but old enough to be remembered from my youth.

Yep. As Shaye said on stage during FQF when introducing an R&B song from the 50's "No one remembers the 20's!" But some of us old folks definitely remember the 50's!

The talent of this group continues to reveal itself, Max can sing too! Shaye seems to have renewed confidence in her upper range. They just get better and better!

James, you must be thrilled that they are back in town. Enjoy, my friend! Max's singing voice reminds me a bit of John Sebastian of the Lovin Spoonful or Randy Newman, not exactly sure which but he's easy on the ears.

@@richardtretler6336 Yes, I made a quick overnight trip to catch their return to New Orleans. The band, especially Shaye, sounded really tight (in a good way). I think the heavy tour schedule allowed them to polish their arrangements to fine edge. Robin said they were tired when they returned. I asked if they were busking the next morning (Monday) and he said no. I can understand because of the heat and needing to recover from the tour. I will try to return later in the fall when the weather cools and record them on Royal St.

@@JamesSterling Thank you for your background information. Sometimes I am a bit in sorrow, becasue they have played the whole summer. And it seems for me that they didn`t have any break between their two tours. After the France tour in July they have started their Eastcoast tour very soon. And they have played each day a concert in different towns.

@richard tretler: On their CD "Tupelo Pine" Max sings the melody in one tune "Right Or Wrong" He has a great voice too. Barnabus can sing too and I mean I have listened Jason too singing with the band in one video.

Good comments. Glad to hear that Max sings so well and in a style that no one else in the band covers. And it's great to see Greg back again. Missed him. Also good that Craig is warm enough that he doesn't sound as though he's playing a kazoo.

Many thanks, James. 'Let the Four Winds Blow' was composed by Dave Bartholomew and Fats Domino in 1955. It's a 16-bar tune [8+8]. It has an archetypical chord progression and is played here, with Max singing, in the key of B flat. (Interestingly, in other videos, where Greg sings it, they opt for A flat.) Essentially, the chord progression uses the final eight bars of the standard 12-bar blues. You find the same pattern in 'The Girls Go Crazy' and 'New Orleans Hula' and 'Redwing' and the Chorus of 'Down By the Riverside' - to name just a few. It's also used in 'All Night Long' which Tuba Skinny sometimes perform and which is remarkably similar in melody to 'Let The Four Winds Blow', though they play 'All Night Long' in the key of C: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZbOhqalrLeMm68

Tuba Skinny has a PayPal account where fans can make donations to the band. Make your contributions to their account "tubaskinny@gmail.com" and check the box for contribution to a friend and there will be no transfer charge. Consider this a virtual tip bucket like you see in the live videos. For those who enjoy these videos it is a chance for you to show your appreciation and help support the band. You have seen the overflowing tip bucket when they busk on Royal Street. Now is your chance to make the virtual tip bucket overflow! And of course I would encourage everyone who loves the band to support them with your purchases of merchandise at Tubaskinny.com.

Even by Tuba Skinny standards, this work seems remarkably joyful and fun. Comments below suggest the band members were tired. If so, they sure hid it well.

Thank you so much for filming and sharing a new video of Tuba Skinny at The Masion. I am happy that you have got the good one seat on the end of the bar. And it is great to see all of them again fresh and brilliant playing as always. It is amazing how many brilliant giggs they playing. Always delightful and with more and more other tunes. I love this Fats Domino Classic It is so great that they can play Duke Ellington and Fats Domino so much terrific in their way. How Do They Do It That Way? ;) Regards from Germany

Yes, I wish they'd let Max sing more, not to take anything away from Greg, but for a change of pace, especially when Erika is absent.
