I also really enjoyed the series where we went through a fortress for a while (Scortchfountain, I think), then when it aged too long, we took a party into adventure mode, and then founded another fortress (Chamberpoint, as I recall). I don't know if dwarfs in fortress mode can carry and use coins. But giving them furniture, items and rooms as reward is cool. Repeated victories could mean more and better rooms. Like the first thing you get is a dining room, then an office, then a tomb etc. And each win in furniture is one piece of quality furniture in your room, each one adding another piece. Gotta make them keep betting! The pig-based random switch is the coolest implementation in here. If the movements of a pig could make an atomizer swing up and down as part of a trap, maybe. No need to order a dwarf to constantly pull levers, as long as you don't mind random activation.

Ok, ok... hear me out on this one... a fabulous minecart race. I know, I know minecart speed is usually deterministic... BUT... what if each track incorporates pig-controlled speed-boost rollers? And what if part of the course snakes through a ballista training field? I'm already imaging additional possibilities, pig-controlled switches to change tracks or initiate jumps, leader controlled switches to release tidal waves on the backfield, random trolls to avoid or crush... so many possibilities.
