Watching this film in the theater, July 1989, with my older sister and her boyfriend, was one of the greatest film going experiences of my life. I was 15 and the theater was packed, sold out. The film played like gangbusters. Every joke shook the room with laughter. Every action scene filled the room with anticipation. People were literally on the edge of their seats. The only other films that played just as well were 1987's Stakeout and 1992's Diggstown. Except Stakeout & Diggstown were more comedy than action and no one was expecting anything from them. Since LW2 was a sequel, it had bigger shoes to fill. And fill them it did. In spades. What a classic. They simply do not make sequels THIS good anymore!

Between this and Home Alone, my impression of Joe Pesci as an actor was that he was goofy and funny. When I was old enough to watch movies like Goodfellas and Casino, my opinion of him quickly changed.

@ the first 2 are good, for sure. Shane black- the writer- wrote the first 2 and I felt Riggs’s story came a completion in part 2. The reason why I loved part two because it was funnier, Joe Pesci was great, great action sequence, and I loved the twist of finding out about his wife. Bonus: better soundtrack- especially the Highway chase scene.

Butler: (answers to The Henchman) Yes 👍? Henchman: What room is that for? (Butler 👀 looks at the room number on the roller table) Butler: 612. (Riggs and Murtaugh shows up 🔝 at the hotel 🏨 building; they walked outside in the hallway and found ♌️ Leo’s room, 612 and ✊ knocks on the door 🚪) Murtaugh: (talks to Riggs) This is it, 612. (Riggs ✊ knocks on the door 🚪) Leo ♌️ Getz: Who is it? Riggs: (answers to ♌️ Leo) Police 👮‍♂️. Open up ⬆️. ♌️ Leo: (questions Riggs and Murtaugh) How do I know it’s the police 👮‍♂️? I used to like the LW movies, well at least the first two, but I watch them now and I can't stand them. The characters are annoying, the dialogue is ridiculous, the action unbelievable, and the over-the-top sax music ever other minute really grates on my nerves.
