rooflemonger I was testing this a whole lot about 2 weeks ago when I accidentally stumbled across it in training and found out something disheartening about the jab reset trick. Jump essentially invalidates the whole mixup after jab.The opponent can jump after the jab faster than any of Buu's moves can catch the pre-jump frames. Jab into air dragon rush maybe will work but most jump in attacks can catch that. I have used people's knowledge of that to jab then raw down heavy but the jab mix-up isn't as golden as it first looks :(

No its unchanged for me :-0 This isn't new tech. He still needs tons of setup and assists to get a mixup when someone like kid buu can just full combo and then pinwheel into make you guess town for free, solo.

Raymond well then that knowledge immediately doesn't invalidate it! Cause now if you know they are holding up, then whatever mixup option you go for is guaranteed cause they can't block at the start of a jump. So maybe your jab won't work but then literally everything else now is guaranteed. Its all about conditioning.

Also I was actually intending Majin Buu to be the next recipient of the combos/tips and tricks treatment, but now with the balance patch incoming I am gonna hold off until after the fact. No point in making such guides when they might be out of date at best, or straight up invalidated at worst after the patch. For character stuff before the patch I will focus on some smaller stuff that I am sure won't be changed up.

Definitely hope they make his dive faster, I;m not a fan of having to burn a bar just to get a conversion, means I have to spend 2 just to to combo into super.

There's actually a strong mixup you can get with sparking after the fat throw: Combo into fat throw>IAD>dive bomb back to the other side (the landing hitbox has splash damage similar to 21's 214M)>Spark You can then combo starting with 2M. This mixup is hard to time, but it's VERY hard to block. Thanks for the vid, as always!

My favorite mixup (when next to your opponent)is actually running for a split second and then jumping forward. You wait a bit, and then back dash into jumping medium. They have to guess sides on the jumping attack AND the next attack because you can hit one side but land on another. It’s pretty dirty

db Squash I love this mix up, especially since even the buu player might not know where they'll hit. Also good for sneaking in empty lows since the opponent will be so worried about the cross up.

You can combo the "Fat toss" after a Beam Assist like Goku and Goku Black from midscreen. They will be fullscreen from you but Majin Buu still gets a mix up.

Hey Rooflemonger, you missed something! I play Majin Buu Hit and Gotenks and when you press Hit and Gotenks assists pretty much at the same time you can do this mixup midscreen just like Vegeta, furthermore the synergy between those three is amazing (Hit: M M, Gotenks assist, 236R2, 236LL Buu assist, super dash... is soo good, over 6K starting with Hits basic M; also you can do after a vanish M, 236LL, Buu assist, super dash...!) Just so you know this guide isn't complete! Love your vids and sorry for the long post, keep it on, cheers from France! Edit: Basically Hit+Gotenks assists= Vegeta assist, so it works in A21 combos as well even though the Majin Buu Hit Gotenks team is the most optimal one, a double point team with Gotenks in anchor!

You can actually use gotenks to get the mix up mid screen off of M/H dive bomb, timing's a little strict but it's doable. Got to wait about 3 secs for M, 4 for H, you'll know you get it when you kick the opponent and they get snapped back into position by the assist. Works on everyone as far as I know but there are a few wonky hit boxes, cell sometimes crosses you up for instance. Still not as consistent as ssj vegetables but good to know about.

In regards to the jab to reset the hit stun, if your opponent mashes light, generally they'll be able to stuff your overhead and cr.m - just something to take into consideration when playing against those players that love to keep pressing light! To all you people thinking about giving this character a try, I implore you to do so! He's an absolute blast!

I have been playing Majin buu since the game first launched. I always use this mix up, but sadly, even though this is a strong mix-up, you'll need 3-4 combos to kill your opponent.

Snapback into hellzone grenade means they can airblock it, meaning there is exactly zero mixup.

Isn't 5M too slow? I feel like I'm going to get blown up against people mashing M or 2H if I'd try it. I think I've seen top players use jumping L into jumping M after the fat throw which is basically an aerial jab reset into an immediate overhead. The problem there however is sometimes my 2L/M input gets eaten after the j.M. I'm not sure why because even if I mash it Buu still sometimes just sits there looking at the opponent without attacking.

the jab into stand m/crouch m is just another layer of mixup so people don't get complacent. People are only gonna react to it after they have seen it a bunch, on first blush not a chance.

Forgive me as I am not as knowledgeable or good as this game as id like to be, but if you hit buu's fat toss why would you need to mix them up if they are seemingly completely stunned?

At the end of a combo, even after you get the fat toss off you simply can't recombo them reliably as they will fall out as shown later in the vid. So with that in mind, we do this to create a fully new combo to get some real damage in.

Ironically, Majin Buu is the mix up master solo. But, Kid Buu turns anyone into a mix up master with that soon to be nerfed assist. It’s something about those buus.

Even Buu's optimal damage combos are so minimal on damage. Hes not bad but his damage is too low to be considered a good character
