My son wasn't a child when he died but I still read his journals and see his handwriting and get very melancholy sometimes knowing there will never be any more journals sharing his thoughts and ideas. This song has an added level of emotion for me.

The Raven That Refused to Sing and Drive Home by Steven Wilson are tear inducing songs too. Both have a music video that has been made by Jess Cope too (she's so talented :O !) Jess Cope also worked with Opeth for their Universal Truth video and with Storm Corrosion (the duo between Mikael form Opeth and Steven Wilson) for the song Drag Ropes. All of these are worth a listen haha. Also, regarding this video, I also cried while watching it with you haha. I think I cry everytime I hear that song haha.

I don’t think there is a song more sad than this one combined with its complimentary video. The story and composition are masterfully constructed. The thought of loss, especially children from a parent’s perspective is almost unbearable. This song/video will make almost anyone cry, especially parents.

"Music that is sad, melancholic, depressing, is in a kind of perverse way more uplifting. I find happy music extremely depressing, mostly - mostly quite depressing. It's particularly this happy music that has no spirituality behind it - if it's just sort of mindless party music, it'd be quite depressing. But largely speaking, I was the kind of person that responds more to melancholia, and it makes me feel good. And I think the reason for this is, I think if you respond strongly to that kind of art, it's because in a way it makes you feel like you're not alone. So when we hear a very sad song, it makes us realise that we do share this kind of common human experience, and we're all kind of bonded in sadness and melancholia and depression.” - Steven Wilson

Two songs that touch my emotions every time I hear them are Landslide by Fleetwood Mac and the live version of Blackbird by Alter Bridge ( not the Beatles song which is also called Blackbird-- and in fact Alter Bridge pays respect to that version by playing the first few notes of the Beatles song in this live performance. But their song is completely different than the Beatles song and is a tribute to a friend who died.)

It's strange how music affects us. I consider it a blessing, being able to convey the kind of emotion & beauty of life it's...well, it's an odd thing. The mystery is part of the charm. Some of us are just able to speak in a way that touches all of us. Music is a blessing.
