I really really love the roof minstrel in this game. It's such a cool thing that fleshes out the lore of this world in a way that you can see the writers put a lot of thought into this game beyond what you see. Sure, it is just a text wall dump, and having to spend coins on it is an odd design choice. But I think it gets a pass because none of this backstory is necessary for the game, and it provides some extra lore for those who want to know more.

29:22 Unfortunately, no. Grodus stated earlier in the game, that they found their Crystal Star (the seventh one) in Rogueport, and then brought it to their base in the moon. I don't think Grodus is 1,000+ years old.

You finally comment on the awesome music that's been playing the whole area! R.I.P. Tec =( Casey's unintentional perfect timing on "the moon explodes" was incredible. As for the logic behind it, I guess you could say whatever power generator they have running there was automatic and the power going out to the base turned off any safeties on it? Doesn't quite make sense, but whatever. Every time I see Luigi say "Hatesong Tower" the Homestuck in me misreads it as "Hatesnog Tower." You actually can get the whole story of Luigi's adventure, but it requires buying the Luigi books from the store. All of them. Ooh, Hades at last! Of course, there's still a good bit left in this, especially considering postgame and superbosses. Glad you appreciated the storyteller's story bits! It's a fun bit of lore to tie things together.

The original resumed the funky music after TEC died. So, this was a major improvement. Whenever you begin the venture into the Palace, be prepared, because it is the gauntlet of the game. Okay, a bit of an exaggeration, but it is lengthy.

4:38 It's pretty funny and interesting how different the perception of Mickey Mouse is depending on your country, I'm used to a way more serious Mickey due to the Italian (and also European in general) comics! Anyway yep, how serious things can get is one of the reasons why I love TTYD and several other Paper Mario games so much! 8:10 I'm pretty sure we've seen Frankly smile at least once before and yeah, it looked pretty silly (although to be fair I think it was an embarrassed smile so it makes sense). 8:58 Frankly did mention the seal weakening, that's why we still had to collect the Crystal Stars after discovering the true nature of the treasure. That said... you'll see when the time comes. 15:12 As others briefly mentioned, in addition to asking Merluvlee for the specific locations like it used to be in the original in the remake they added percentages of how many Shine Sprites and Star Pieces you've found per area which is great and even more so since you have to collect all of them for the added extras (I definitely recommend going for those at least on your own if you're up to it)! 16:43 This is why it's a bummer that クリキング "Kuri King" has been kept as "Chestnut King" in the English localization for some reason despite it being Goomba King's Japanese name - not only Luigi's final boss being the one from the prologue of Paper Mario 64 is hilarious, but also you know he's spouting nonsense even more than usual considering that! 26:15 Yep, Casey was right once again (also about the dungeon being the pit by the way) and all this lore is yet another reason why I love TTYD so much! 28:55 Never considered the possibility that the healer could be a member of the "Merl-" family, interesting theory! By the way, it's explicitly mentioned at some point that the Crystal Star the X-Nauts found was in Rogueport so Casey's right yet again.

About that Eggma/Robotnik comment, it's actually not the same situation as peach/toadstool. Peach is called peach because it sounds better than toadstool and is our localization, even though toadstool is also a canotical name for her. Eggman isnt his actual name in any localization, it's actually a nickname sonic and his friends came up with. It just became more widely used and even he utilizes it when he names his stuff.

Wasn't Eggman his original Japanese name, while Robotnik was his western name during the 90s? I'm pretty sure they merged both into Ivo Robotnik as his birth name and Dr Eggman as a nickname given by Sonic which he took for himself in Sonic Adventure in 1998.

9:15 an earlier dialogue with Frankie actually did say that the seal on the door would break itself. Only using the stars could restore the lock for another 1000 years.

About the Heroes in black chests: Obvious that the Boo is in twilight town storeroom and Koopa was in a wrecked ship of the island. However I always assumed The Goomba was the first chest you unlock since that chests' location is near the entrance to the pipe leading to Boggly Woods and somehow The strong Toads' chest is in Hooktail Castle since he was originally from Petal Meadows. Meh just my assumption tho.

That's a neat little bit of foreshadowing. (I'll explain later) I think Grodus set the moon base to explode upon losing all power so nothing could be salvaged by his enemies. One quick note since it sounds like you are going to play some post game. Check the teleporter room after beating the story. You can check where shine sprites are with the fortune teller in "Under Rogueport". (She's in the building next to the Star Piece jester.) Ian thank you so much for reading Grifty's dialogue. I think that is my favorite thing I discovered when playing the remake (it was in the original though) and it made me appreciate the world of TTYD so much more. I bet the Toad heroes star was the one Grodus found but I don't think he is the healer. Maybe one of his ancestors but he was never a good person. (Or at least there isn't anything saying he was.)

I didn't think about it until now, but what if that weird house in the Rogueport sewers that you used the spring jump to get to is where the healer lived and where the Crystal Star was stored? It'd explain why the house is so mysterious imo. And then the X-Nauts stumbled into it before the game started and brought the star to the moon.... just a thought!

The Moon didn't explode just the X-Naut base when its power source was extinguised. I guess as a sort of failsafe type thing you see cartoon villians use. Self destruct buttons etc lol. But RIP TEC 😢
