I'm not buying new sets that are currently being printed above MSRP. If I miss some sets until the market cools down, so be it. I'm here because of your honesty, integrity, and transparency. I haven't purchased from your shop before (because I was unaware of you), but plan to be a customer going forward. The online shop where I had been buying is selling everything, including pre-orders, at "market price". Not going back. Prior to this mess, I purchased an ETB and a booster box of every set that came out. My kids and I set up a binder using the ETB book, open the packs, sort everything, and load the binder. It's good non-TV/phone time that we always enjoy. I hope to be lucky enough to be one of the thousand, but we'll see. Keep up the good work!

I've been collecting for over a year now and have really enjoyed focusing on older sets like XY and Black & White. While I’ll probably miss out on Prismatic, it’s not the end of the world. I got a bit spoiled when stock was plentiful, but now I appreciate it even more when my TCGPlayer orders of singles arrive. At the end of the day, it’s all about enjoying the hobby whether it’s the artwork, the rarities, the game itself, or the amazing community that makes it special.

All I'll say is that I considered going to Stockholm for the Pokémon TCG tournament and the tickets were sold out before I could get my hands on it. Tickets to the EUIC in Birmingham sold out the second it dropped for sale. These are tournaments where all participants are registered by name, age, and account in order to buy tickets to play. There are thousands of participants and there were no openings for either tournament hours or even seconds after they opened for registration. This issue is not only bots and scalpers. There's a massive surge of collectors and players in hobby. I think a lot will leave once the next main series game is announced/released though. Edit: For the record, the Stockholm regional tournament is usually the smallest in all of Europe. Normally they're unable to sell out all the spots. 2025, they were sold out by the end of the first day of registration.

You also need to find a labor source that can be trusted to follow the strict NDAs, and also assume they're going to pay them a wage that is enticing. It's not that simple.

Also, regarding the bot comment, I know someone IRL who is botting in a cook group. They've been botting stock at 40 ETBs + per day almost per person in the group. They have thousands of proxies setup and if one gets banned on a site, they have more ready to go. A lot of people in that cook group are selling to LGS because it's an easy flip.

I'm friends with the asset protection manager at my target, he said there are apps now that tell u when any given store is about to put out new Pokemon supply out on the floor. There is some way of tapping into whatever their process of preparing items to put out after they've gone into whatever program that tells them what's on their floor at any given time. So it's just impossible to get anything now. I haven't seen any pokemon in stores since before Christmas

I have yet to find PE in any big box stores since release. My family was only able to get a box of Blooming waters from our local Costco due to their limit 2 purchase. So glad they implemented that. Had it not been for that we would not have been able to buy any 151 and thats an old set. Smh.

I think part of the problem that you're describing, but not specifically mentioning is that there are too many people purchasing at the distributor level. Yes, there is not enough product to go around, but as the hobby explodes, now every influencer with enough volume is tapping into distributors. The hobby is being squeezed from every angle, and I worry about small and medium sized businesses that can't move enough product because their allocations are so small. If you sell the product above MSRP and it sells, but you can't restock it for 2-3 months, then there is little value in your sale. From the other angle, the community is sick and tired of the prices and I expect an aggressive correction by summer time

I wish that were true but there can't be a correction until more than enough cards are printed. And even then I wouldn't expect a correction until a lot of the newcomers to the hobby get bored and leave. PC may actually be better of letting things burn to the ground a little longer to get those transient fans to leave earlier since they will have more trouble getting product. Then they can turn up the printing to get the full correction. Still, I can't imagine that happening before next year.

My plan is to ignore buying sealed while demand is at these levels. I usually by 5 cases of each set, but that's because I would be able to get the cases at like $565 from various sites. Now those sites are holding back and taking pre-orders 1 to 2 weeks before release. Team Rocket set, I'll most likely pay whatever. For now, I'm going to focus on buying undervalued singles and getting my ebay store off the ground. My wife will be happy not seeing boxes upon boxes arriving.

Selling to a large number of customers instead of rip & shippers is an excellent decision that's fair to the consumer. The rip & shippers would charge people significantly more to get the product, a lot of people aren't comfortable with rip & ships. Tons of reasons why, just as simple as swapping potential 10's for cards with more whitening. Sellers shouldn't really be selling to other sellers, that's not a consumer friendly business model. They should be selling to the end consumer. So I really like your decision and transparency. There is a large demand but there are also a lot of bots. There are a large number of botting discords with a significant number of people within them. There's also one "community" based that gives the botting programs or scripts for free instead of pay walling with a significant number of people within that discord. Botting has definitely phased out the out of the hobby space mom & Dad's buying for kids. As long as the bots aren't all going to the shipping address it's simply people using bots in place of manually clicking a mouse. The real issue with bots is when it's used for one person to acquire a lot en mass. It is kind of sad that botting has pushed out a segment of the community (children). And the scalping buyouts have made it so they can't pick up new releases at the store. Basically the people unaware of how to gain an edge in acquiring product are gate kept by the state of the hobby. Kind of sad. But what really can you do. If I owned a physical LGS I'd probably have an allocation designated strictly for people who came in with their kids or something to attempt to offset that barrier of acquisition.

This is why its always best to order from pokemon center directly. I got 2 PC etbs, 3 booster boxes, and i ordered my sleeved packs from best buy. Pokemon center and big box stores are not in the buisness of canceling your order and listing it higher. Their has been instances of gamestop overselling pre orders and later cutting down peoples pre orders, which is bullcrap, and the reason I do not order from them unless all my other choices are gone. If you were smart enough and intuitive enough to put in your order and beat the crowd, before the price spike, you deserve to have your order honored and reap whatever rewards come along with that. Early bird gets the worm, so always be early.

Pokémon really needs to fix their website so that it doesn’t crash 50 times 5 minutes after releasing a new product from the swarms of people and bots. @the-absolute-light yet prismatic evolutions etbs were up for like 2 days before they sold out. Seems to me like no one was jumping at the chance back then and getting in early, before they had price confirmation that it was going to be worth more money, and before they had almost certain indicators that it was going to sell out fast. I managed to get a full case of prismatic PC etbs, 2 surprise boxes, and 6 booster bundles. I got in 4 orders on pokemon center for journey together, before they sold out, as well as best buy. I understand that not everyone has time to be engaged like I am, and thats why they will not be rewarded the same as I am. If you want this stuff, you have to care alot, and put in the time and work. And if you didnt put in pre orders, you should have your feet on the ground on every restock day, and if you dont, then you've no reason to complain. The people who try will get it, the ones who dont will not. Thats just the way it is, at least untill supply hits and anyone can just hop on gamestop at any time of any day and order whatever they want.

Multiple LGS here in NZ have told me it's been a nightmare - they can't even get 10% of what would be a normal order size. This is really interesting because I do want to buy Journey Together, but am (like you said) very concerned that I won't even be able to find it. I'll make content going to shows and what not, but yeah poor rip and shippers.
