Ex-Muslim here, converted to Christianity many years ago after many years to studying religion, and comparing between the life of Muhammad and Jesus. One came with a sword and God where you have to wage wars and die for him, and the other came with message of love and forgiveness and died so I can live ❤ So Thank you Jesus.

The earliest followers were Torah observant Jews. They were the Jerusalem Assembly aka the Way aka the Natsarim Sect of 1st Century Judaism. Paul, Peter, or any of the earliest disciples were NEVER Christians. They were Torah observant Jews. Acts 9:1-2, Acts 10:14, Acts 24:5 & 14. Christians trash the Torah. See their description in 2Thessalonians 2, the letters of Ignatius, 2nd Bishop of Antioch, the Constantine Creed of the Council of Nicea in 325 AD.

I took a New Testament course at a major college. The old professor said something that stuck with me. He said something like: "I've been studying the New and Old Testament for 40 years, and I am not a religious person -- I'm a scholar. I always considered the resurrection story to be a myth. But after studying everything and thinking deeply about it, I'm convinced that something very strange happened after Jesus was crucified. Something highly unusual. The Jesus movement should have ended after Jesus died. But something happened that truly shocked his followers."

I hope to be getting married and starting family with an amazing woman I love. I know if Christ can give me new life, then He will do the same for you if you sincerely pray for Him to come into your life. Another interesting point he didn't mention is that the Jewish priests and elders did not say Jesus didn't really die. They didn't say his body was in the tomb or that they could produce the body. They acknowledged that the body was gone and told the guards to tell people that the disciples had stolen his body. That may have been convincing to some until the deaths of all twelve disciples. Other than John who died of old age and Judas who hung himself, every one of them was executed for their beliefs. If they knew for a fact that Jesus was not resurrected, and all they had to do to save their own lives was say so, why would not one of them do so? If they knew everything they preached was a lie and that lie only brought them a life of misery, why suffer crucifixion, flaying, clubbing, stoning, or beheading? Not one of them recanted. Even after the executions began, they still did not recant. That doesn't speak to whether the resurrection in fact occurred, but it does speak to the level of certainty the disciples had about it and the fact the Jewish elders did not deny the body was gone.

The Gospel Of Jesus Christ 1. GOD IS HOLY AND JUST The Bible says "Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face." (Psalm 89:14) In civil law, a good judge must punish crime. If he turns a blind eye to injustice, then he is corrupt and he himself should be punished. In one ten-year period in the United States, 100,000 murderers were never brought to justice. These were unsolved crimes. It makes sense that if He is good and just, He should be angry with those who have taken the lives of others, and He should punish murderers, rapists, etc. This is the teaching of the Bible-that God will “by no means clear the guilty.” He “will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.” “God is angry with the wicked every day.” 2. HIS WORD SAYS “THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH” “Sin is transgression of the Law.” (1 John 3:4) Let’s look briefly at the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20), and see if we have kept God’s Law: You shall have no other gods before Me You shall not make yourself a graven image You shall not take God’s name in vain Remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy Honor your father and mother You shall not murder You shall not commit adultery You shall not steal You shall not lie You shall not covet Before we say we have obeyed the Commandments, this is what someone would be like if he kept the Law-he would always love God with all his heart, with all his soul, with all his strength, and with all his mind, and love his neighbor as much as he has loved himself. He has never made a god to suit himself (either with his hands or in his mind). He has always given God’s name reverence, kept the Sabbath holy, honored his parents implicitly, and never once has he been “angry with his brother without a cause.” He has never hated anyone, had lust in his heart, or had illicit sex. He has never stolen even a paper clip or ballpoint pen, or told as much as a “white” lie, and not once desired anything that belongs to someone else. He is, and always has been “pure in heart,” perfect in thought, word, and deed. The truth is, we are not like that. We have all “sinned” many times, (Romans 3:23) "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." and therefore we have stored up God’s wrath, which will be revealed on Judgment Day. The proof that we have sinned will be our death, and after death we must face God in judgment. Think of it-if He has seen our every thought, word, and deed, and if He is going to bring all of our sins out as evidence of our guilt on the Day of Judgment, we will all be found to be guilty. Our conscience has shown us right from wrong; we will be without excuse. God will give us justice, and hell will be the place of our eternal punishment. (Luke 12:2-3) "For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops." 3. GOD IS RICH IN MERCY TO ALL THAT CALL UPON HIM “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us…” (Ephesians 2:4) A youth once borrowed a fast car, and in a drunken stupor, sped through his hometown at 120 m.p.h. Since everything was horse-drawn in his country town, there were no laws against speeding. So the council passed a law saying that 30 m.p.h. was the maximum speed, and that any transgressors would be fined $100 for every m.p.h. over the speed limit. On his way back through the town, the speedster decided to pull the same prank. He was apprehended, tried, and found guilty by his father, who was the town’s only judge. He was fined $9,000, and because he had no money and no words of defense, the youth was led off to prison. As he sat in despair behind bars, his father appeared at the door, and told him that he had sold all his own prized possessions and paid the fine for him. The son couldn’t believe that he loved him that much. They embraced as they never had before, and walked off in a new-found relationship, bonded together with love. We have all broken God’s Law a multitude of times, but God came to this earth in the person of Jesus Christ, and paid the fine-”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” The Bible says, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Jesus Christ satisfied eternal justice on the cross by taking the punishment for the sins of the entire world upon himself and died, was buried, and then was raised from the dead on the third day, Over 500 eyewitnesses saw Him at the same time after His resurrection; it’s no fairy tale. Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies (over 300) about the promised Savior, written in the Holy Scriptures hundreds of years before His birth. But just as we cannot earn a gift, so we cannot earn eternal life by our good works-(Ephesians 2:8-9) "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. 4. GOD OFFERS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST “He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” (John 5:24) Life’s greatest mystery, death, was destroyed by the One who said "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me." (Romans 10:9-10)~ If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Here are just ten of God’s exceedingly great and precious promises for those who are saved. You have passed from death into life (Jn. 5:24). God will supply all of your needs according to His riches (Phil. 4:19). Jesus will be with you in trials, promising never to leave nor forsake you (Heb. 13:5). The Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth, and show you things to come (Jn. 16:13). You are cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ-God has removed your sins as far as the East is from the West (Ps. 103:12). As you abide in Christ, you will see the “fruit” of His Spirit begin to manifest in your life (Gal. 5:22-25). As you read the Bible daily, it will come alive to you and cause you to grow in your faith (1 Pet. 2:1-3). When you pray, God will hear you and answer your prayers (1 Jn. 5:15). The cross will be continual evidence of God’s love for you (Rom. 5:8). God “is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy” (Jude 1:24). Search the Scriptures daily, and see what God has in store for those that love Him. Honor Christ’s command to be baptized. May God Bless You.

Thanks for having on Wes Huff. Jesus sustained my family for more centuries back that we have record in our family.. my parent's generation turned our back on him as God and in only 20 years our entire family and reality erroded and fell apart. I had to travel to Eastern Europe and witness Christians there to realize that the goodness and power my family used to have didn't come from us, and end with us... it always came from God through our faith. In only a few years of turning back to him, we are all being healed and put back together. My own mother who cut her hair and became a feminist and a witch and hated Jesus for decades, has also come back to faith in him, I couldn't be more grateful! I finally have a future worth hoping in again! Not just in this life, but in eternal life. Glory to the Kingdom that Jesus builds both spiritually as well as here on earth in our hearts when we have the humility to ask our own Father in heaven, creator, to guide us and restore us. Nothing can stop my family from healing when we have Jesus, thank you God. We don't deserve it after the disrespect we smashed you with. But you took us back with the joy and love of a real heavenly Father! THAT is family. That is love.

Joe, it amazes me that adult men would choose to become martyrs and change completely their lives to share the gospel. They should be ashamed and don’t wanted to have any relation with Jesus because of the humiliating death He experienced. They really believed that Jesus was the son of God that’s the only explanation. Even with all evidences we can find you will still need to have faith. Only searching with a sincere heart you will feel the transformation in your life. I believe in Jesus because I can experience Him daily. I don’t consider myself a blind faith person, I study archaeology, history and Bible and enjoy learning facts but in the end it’s my own personal experience that speaks louder. I really pray you will experience Jesus in your life soon.

You can see this happen quite quickly after death. Jesus died, physically, for all our sins, he bore the weight of death so you don't have to.

And not only would they have been spared, but any one of them would have been made a rich and powerful man if they had just came out and said “It was all a big gag.” Yet non of them did. What did those men see in the 3 years they were with him that gave them that king of faith? EDIT: The amount of people who don’t understand the difference between dying for a lie, and dying knowing something was a lie is astounding. Before you comment “yEaH buT tHE HeavEns GaTe KOol AiD drINKers…….” , use a little logic. Those people died believing something that was a lie. How many of them when picked up the Kool Aid KNOWING they were dying for a lie? And the disciples didn’t merely die. They were brutally tortured. And not a one of them said “Hey we were lying.” If the Heavens Gate people knew that what they were dying for was all a big gag, and they were going to be brutally tortured and murdered for it, that at least one of them would have been like “Yea I’m not doing this.”

We can only say with historical certainty that three did. Peter, Paul and James. Peter and Paul were killed under Nero because Nero blamed the Christian’s for the great fire of Rome. You need to demonstrate that them renouncing Christ would have saved them. You have no way to demonstrate that. And even if you could, you seem to be assuming that people can distinguish between what’s real and what is not real. In other words, people may not die for what they consciously know is a lie, but they will die for something they believe is true even if it isn’t. And you really do not know the mental state of these people living 2000 years ago.

Christianity and its roots has a foundation built off sand (ironic because in matthew it's written that only a fool builds house on sand). The best stance is that the bible is infallible (i'd hope we all know it's not), and if it isn't well that's makes willing christians looks even worse, believing in tales of old. Christ came and told the world He is what they have been searching for and backed His claim up with dying and rising from the dead. This is why so many people converted. This is why Christianity is the largest religion in the world after years of relentless persecution.

It was forgiveness many of these early scholars could not understand, as almost all other religions of the time and for some time after were based more on an eye for an eye vs forgiveness. What Christianity brought to the table was forgiveness as being key to the doctrine.

I think the strongest argument for the resurrection was partially mentioned when Wesley said the disciples were frightened and scared and in hiding during the crucifixion. Peter denying Jesus 3 times but after the resurrection all of the disciples went throughout the world proclaiming the gospels and all eventually dying horrible and gruesome deaths. If he had died and never risen back to life it is hard to believe they would’ve continued Jesus’s movement and even ultimately dying for their beliefs.
@VeridicusMaximus16 сағат бұрын
A belief based on some experience can be different than reality. People dying for their beliefs is not anything surprising. And none of those stories about disciples dying proclaiming the gospel is true -- they contradict each other and are late TRADITIONS.
@jay-d8g3v14 сағат бұрын
@@VeridicusMaximus contradict one another? you sure about that?
@danielt16713 сағат бұрын
@ I meant belief in the sense that they saw Jesus with their own eyes alive after his death. Yes other people die for their beliefs but I am pointing to the stark difference in behavior after the resurrection when prior they were running away and hiding. Many serious biblical scholars would disagree with your opinion that the gospels are mere stories. They read like factual accounts of what happened. For example portraying oneself as a frightened individual hiding from the authorities as Jesus is being condemned is something that would be considered highly embarrassing in a made up story unless it’s an actual historic account of what happened. The authors would’ve been portrayed in the best of light if it’s some made up fantasy. As for the apparent contradictions, they are resolved just fine if you want to take the time to research through the work of various scholars but something tells me you’re ok with believing in the contradictions.
@VeridicusMaximus12 сағат бұрын
@@danielt167 Yes, those are the stories in the Bible - which are contradictory. I don't; buy it at all. Paul, the first, only said that he experienced Jesus after he ascended and in revelations - not him in earthly flesh! I'm saying a few disciple probably experienced Jesus after his death is some fashion that later gets embellished to say the least. This experience could have been anything from a vision to an audible revelation, a dream, a group ecstatic experience, and any number of mental phenomenon - from grief hallucinations to small groups experiences many of which can spread to others to have similar experiences. All of which would have been par for the course in this culture as meaningful and 'real.' Such experiences of course would change behavior. That's not supernatural necessarily. And as I noted it is contradictory accounts not just in the gospels but in TRADITION regarding these guy's dying for their faith. The Criterion of embarrassment is a very weak standard as any cop and lawyer could tell you - people anticipate this and make themselves an embarrassment for authenticity - criminals do this all the time. Also, when telling a story one has to use their background knowledge of what they expect their audience to know and not know. As such the disciples probably did flee when Jesus was arrested and they could not deny this as they believed it was common knowledge. Furthermore, it would make a good contrast when trying to show forth the resurrection power of the spirit - why not make yourself weak prior and empowered after - it fits the narrative. Bro this is not hard to come up with a dozen ways both in a literary fashion or practical ones to counter this apologetic nonsense. What makes you think I have not researched! Please!
@danielt1676 сағат бұрын
@@VeridicusMaximus you make some interesting points and they deserve thoughtful responses unfortunately at this moment I don’t have the time. I researched this a decade ago in order to counter my Jewish in laws. Allow me to go through some of the material I’ve read but forgotten since and I will rebut your points. You’re obviously a very intelligent person and probably smarter than me, but I can’t help but wonder if not just me but many secular scholars found the New Testament to be authentic why someone with your intelligence hasn’t yet found the answers to your own objections. Just something to think about because sometimes people will only see what they want to see.

@@mi5anthrope He who has ears, let him hear. It is written (2 Peter 3): “Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.”
