POC originally (the term that came before "POC") only referred to black and mixed race people. It was a way to group black and people mixed with black together in one category. Nowdays it means anyone who isnt the typical western/northern european. Its the same with the term "brown". It used to refer to South asian Dravidian people but now it refers to native americans, South asians, Latinos and south east asians. All these terms are literally meaningless but keep getting overused for certain agendas

South africans are much smarter with how they use the term poc. If i remember correctly, in south africa the only people who are considered people of colour are mixed race and or multiracial people. Basically any person who is has black mixed with something else. At least this doesnt lead to any confusions

This is why I always say we shouldn't praise men and non black people for supporting us. Like okay? You're a decent person. A normal person. Next.... And I know this may sound mean but I'm not going to celebrate anybody for deciding to speak up on a privilege they enjoy at the expense of others like myself.

As a black British women, born and raised in London - issues pertaining to race is a mess here and grouping all non whites together as one homogeneous group is big problem which a lot of ‘educated’ blacks who should be leading from the front don’t want to admit. Regarding Murad Murali, I was subscribed to him briefly and then I caught on that he was being disingenuous and was lapping up the glory of being idolised by his followers in the comments - I’m so glad my intuition was right on this. Great video - well explained.

@q Well said, I love the way you've expressed this and unfortunately this happens too often when non-blk people wrigle into blk spaces and become pedestalized. The power struggle of that in itself is so problematic and goes against the ally concept anyway. I do wonder why as blk people we continue to let everyone in to infiltrate our community and prop them up while they make money off us and our culture. It's an age old thing. What's more disturbing is the blk people making excuses for him. I used to watch him during the bkchat days but stopped as I felt like his mannerisms were giving appropriation and I've had too much anti-blk micro-agressions from men from his community/s so I knew something wasn't quite right.

@q Sorry, I've only just seen this response. You are SPOT ON- we could never enter their spaces and be considered a voice for their culture which is fine and shows that they have boundaries, but why is it that every other culture does this but us? And the thing that I personally find painful is the fact that too many of us don't understand how detrimental it is to our visibility and cultural aesthetic that we continue to welcome in people whose ulterior motive it is to profit off of us. Not enough of us know our history and are too naïve about the motives of infiltrators. Just look at blk music videos full of women of different races- I know I'm going onto a different topic but it's yet another example of how we don't gatekeep our own culture yet everyone else does and wouldn't dream of letting us in just to peep, let alone build a platform off them. Like I said, his Black British mannerisms (speech patterns, body language) just seemed very off and I've seen too many brown men appropriate mannerisms stereotypically 'blk' mannerisms whilst hating blk people. It's warfare out here but a lot of us aren't switched on or informed enough to even detect it.

Notice he also had a tendency to emphasize the hate and racism that was in the Arabic community. That was suspicious to me. I commented it on fred stones video about vulture culture. It was like he was subtly playing out his fetish . I do believe he is racist tbh. Especially wanting being in the position of a DOM and wanting to dominate with the use of those words. Its like externalising behaviour. He was very proud of his arabic heritage too - despite claims that he is pakistani and that he is only arabic because some of his relatives lived there but aren’t actually from there. I dont believe he was raped in the sense that he is making out. I think he started engaging in sexual relations with men willingly. I think the shame he carries is from being gay in a muslim community, not from being sexually abused ( as i dont think this happened) . He is the biggest showman - always claiming he is hard and will say things to peoples faces, acting like he is straight, acting nigerian 😭. The video was so theatrical like he is getting desperate.!

Im a black brit, and i hated how in infiltrated our spaces. This dude got support from bw cos we are SO easy to bamboozle. So easy to bamboozle that when his friend was on Love Island (an asian dude) he told us that this friend is half black. NO. Nas is Indian & Guyanese. Indo Guyanese. One look at that man & he is fully asian. Whatever u do in the bedroom, its on YOU. I dont care about allat. However, you built your platform talking about misogynoir. Specifically speaking about black women's plight. I would tell the girls to wake up. This man is South Asian. And thats when i knew he was an opportunist because he lied about Nas being half black to get the vote from bw. There are hella scandals & issues in their community. He couldn't do youtube vids based on that???? If EYE sat on a platform, speaking about South Asian issues they would call me ALL types of monkeys. Im over it. And ive been saying it for years. I liked him at first but he did too much speaking about black business. Regurgitating the talking points on the black british TL & talking points. But cos black women r so thirsty for acceptance, they ran to accept him. Anyways, i digress. Hopefully we've learnt our lesson. Probably not sigh.

@@flowerchildd423 That half Black thing with Nas is what did it with me. He was already a liar before but that video showed that he was a liar on purpose! And then he makes Nas out to be the bad one just because the guy wanted to distance himself from everything Murad said while he was on the show? The guy is manipulative. Everytime there is some drama involving him he brings up some kind of sob story. Not saying the stories arent true but the timing is always convinient. When it was Nas, he had the story of his grandparent and the A.. and all that was piled on to the conclusion of "Nas is evil for not reaching out". If you feel that way then thats okay but there is something disgusting about putting all this in a public video knowing your loyal followers will sent online hate to Nas because of their overprotectiveness for Murad. Now with this Drama he bring up SA. When he first started youtube he was just south asian. Then he became south asian and west asian. And then he became south asian and west asian with a dash of east african lol. So many issues in the Asian communitiy yet he only focuses to on negative black topics and when discussing them he makes sure he always sides with the popular black opinion I had to side eye him even more with all this Prince Harry worship. All this "omg prince william is evil and prince Harry is a victim" nonsense... Why is Murad who is apparently half Pakistani, calling William racist for the whole meghan thing but calling Harry an Angel eventhough the guy used terms that were HISTORICALLY racially degrading for Pakistani people? But of course making a video on Harrys racist past towards MURADS PEOPLE wouldnt gain him the same views and followings

Im white with a mixed race mother so yeah its not my place to say. However, I think people underestimate the danger of pandering. They think that if someone continuously tells them what they want to hear, then they are good people but that's not the case. People who pander literally rely on your problems to stay the same. They need you to be a victim so that they can come and play knight and shining armor. They need your self esteem to be low so that they can exploit your pain. It's easy to take a negative topic and then tell people whatever popular opinion is out there in that community.

I disagree bc it sounds like you have to experience a certain level of oppression in order to be grouped with black people. That leads to more division. For one example, people who are white passing still experience oppression, especially when they are outspoken about ALL of their heritage. We as black American people keep separating ourselves from Asian, Indigenous, and even Black African people. Everyone knows black people experienced the worst in the western world besides indigenous folk. Refusing to be grouped with those who have more privelege further divides us. Intersectionality exists, but society tries to confine us into boxes, further dividing us. And we feed into it all the time, and this is a prime example of that. We can be Black and a person of color. Umbrella terms unify, and there's nothing wrong with unity, even if it is with someone who is white passing. Another example is how some black people deem mixed or lightskinned people as non black. They are still black, they are just not solely black.

Not to double comment, but I do think its a problem that these "kinks" come from toxic power dynamics. For example, I just realized that the "maid outfit" isn't sexy because it's just a cute outfit like I thought, but because they are actually servants, which made the clothes become sexy because of how they were objectified.I'm sure most people don't care about the outfit, but this is a group who faces so much harassment and abuse even today for the work they do. This is the same for race play, incest and role playing as a little or whatever. Its tied too much to real abuse, and I would never want to participate in that and I would go far away from one who does want to, despite my relative open mind to sexuality.

I'm a black British woman of African descent born and raised in London. I have also travelled very widely too. I have only heard the term 'politically Black' used within academic or more intellectual circles and in this day and age this is extremely rare. The last time I heard the term was maybe more than a decade ago and most of my life and career choices have been motivated by my concerns around human rights, anti-racism and social justice so I am very often engaged in these types of discussions. I also studied these issues at university. I can confidently assert that no one uses that term now and there has recently been quite a lot of backlash even against the term BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic), with Black people wanting distinct recognition of the specific societal injustices and discrimination we face as a collective 'ethnic group'. This is still also quite problematic since there are significant socio-economic and cultural differences between the recent immigrant African population and more established Afro Caribbeans who began migrating to the UK just after the Second World War. In reality Murad Murali is insubstantial and of no meaningful significance. He also has no real power or political influence. What you describe about his former life on the Only Fans platform definitely sounds quite shady and extremely tacky, but I am more interested to know what you think of Kemi Badenoch who is an extreme right wing British Tory MP of full Black African Nigerian Yoruba heritage. Her stance was so racist and extreme that when she stood for the recent contest for leadership of the Conservative Party she was openly supported by far right British white Nazis and nationalists affiliated to the British National Party (BNP). She lost the contest but is still supported by far right factions in the Conservative Party and she has recently been made Secretary of State for Trade. Previously she was the Equalities Minister. In the role she advocated for the banning of the Black Lives Matter movement and rejected any teaching of critical race theory or the British colonial history in schools. She also wanted any teaching about 'white privilege' in the British education system to be banned. There are other Black and Asian politicians who have risen to the highest and most powerful positions in government and they are also hideously right wing, racist Uncle Toms. As Home Secretary Priti Patel has masterminded the policy of deporting all asylum seekers who seek refuge in the UK to Rwanda immediately as soon as they set foot on British shores. This policy which blatantly breaks international law, is now set to continue and maybe become even worse under Suella Braverman who is the new Home Secretary and another South Asian woman. So from this perspective anything being discussed by Murad Murali pales into complete insignificance and he does not deserve the platform you have just given him. I am about to begin a PhD at a UK university. I am pleased to say that my PhD supervisor is an amazingly inspiring and highly intelligent Black woman. There is a fantastic network of Black academics and scholars developing across UK universities and I am very much looking forward to learning from them.

I HATE the term "ppl of color." That phrase bunches "minorities" (I don't like that term either but I use it to make my point more understandable) into 1 category, and we are NOT the same. My experience as a black person is an extremely unique one. Other "minorities" have a much closer proximity to whiteness than I ever will have, and alot of them consciously use that to their advantage. There is no solidarity specifically with black ppl from their end. Alongside the fact that alot of them are honestly just white ppl but of different cultures/ethnicities/nationalities anyway. Alot of them have the same white supremacist mentality towards black ppl as well. I will never consider myself a person of color...I am BLACK/African American/of African descent. I really don’t like the term POC. POC is most people. I just feel like there is not one issue where all “POC” should be lumped together in terms of treatment. That lessens that perception of how some people are treated and leads to gaslighting. Blk women experience this so much. And the term centers white ppl. I wanted to add this. It was gonna be a reply ,but YT is blocking it. Why would we allow and perpetuate the idea that a minority group can make outliers of us all and oppress us all. It’s not even possible for a minority to oppress the majority. The majority would have to be partaking in some way, there are just too many of us. And one way we do this is by creating these all encompassing terms that minimize our experiences and trauma bonding over our inability it fit into their world.

Yes we have to work twice as hard because our countries of origin are not advancing economically or at the same economic/political level as other more stable or wealthy economies. Name me a single black majority country that is at the same economic level as a Korea/China or a western country? Many of the more stable black countries do not own their own economies and are highly dependent on other countries via consumer goods, so yes we need to understand that we have a lot of work to do collectively to catch up to others or else we will continue to be every other group’s punching bag. The issue with some black people in the West is they get too comfortable with the idea of progressiveness. A “progressive society” doesn’t change the power dynamic of people groups it just lulls you to inaction.

Negrophobia (also termed anti-Blackness) is characterized by a fear, hatred or extreme aversion to black people and black culture worldwide. The term "negrophilia" itself describes the craze for black culture that was prevalent among avant-garde artists and bohemian types in 20s Paris, when to collect African art, to listen to black music and to dance with black people was a sign of being modern and fashionable. Afrophobia is a term used to describe the specificities of racism that targets people of African descent. Afrophobia seeks to dehumanise and deny the dignity of a large group of people. @@mayowasworld first off it's an honor that you responded and yes the term ally is a war word. these TikTok'ers disagreeing with ws ain't willing to put their life on the line nor their livelihood on the line for black lives It's just so funny how they have been labeled allies when they're absolutely doing no fighting just getting on front of a camera spewing a monologue of harsh words.like I said it's an honor that you responded keep pushing out great content

Actually you asked them to do so. You asked them to advocate and 'stick up for you'. The BLM movement caused many non-'black' individuals to feel forced to speak up and post about it, otherwise they weren't a decent human being, or, out of fear of being cancelled. Now, you're laughing at some of these people, without right, and being ungrateful for their support. A lot of 'black' people are like this, and that's why everyone else gets a bad rep unfortunately.

Yes all of this was flames 🔥. Thank you for the insight on allyship just being another form of capitalism or symbolism for a good deed (the plus size example was good). I’m starting to think there is no such thing either. And thank you for saying everything I’ve been saying about global blackness, I’m tired of them playing in our faces like we don’t know that they know what black means and exactly how they view us. We need to gatekeep more! 🫶🏾you Mayowa!

When people start asking or expecting ribbons for doing the right thing as simple as "breathing", it's usually downhill from there. Plenty of ego and yeye pride.

I haven’t finished the video yet but just based on the top comments I’m wondering if the nuisances we have in Canada is different than the US? At least in Ontario, I cannot speak for other parts of Canada… Brown- Indians and Pakistani people… and the other south asians Black/ people of African descent- Black People Latinos- individuals from any Spanish speaking place POC- we rarely use this broad sweeping acronym, it’s fairly new but when used yes it might include everyone who ain’t white Indigenous - native Canadians Racialized- mainly blacks and indigenous Canadian… Fun fact, CAnada is racist AF to their indigenous people.. my caribbean black ass was SHOCKED when I moved here and found that out

A lot of black people and Poc in the Uk used to or still feel the racism here differs to USA as it is covert here whole overt there. The racism we face here in the UK is not direct to your face so some people are able to pretend it doesnt exist. But I am legally Canadian and my experience there and the UK differ. A lot of UK people use the term POC more as our population is so low here and all minorities are 14 percent and this includes white minorities (ie Eastern Europeans etc) so people want to hold on to as many people as possible to not feel like a minority. But I am BLACK, my experience differs from other minorités I can sympathise with others but it’s not the same experience as I feel I face more day to day racism from other minorities majority South Asians. Many south Asians are extremely racist over here and easily say the N word to insult blacks. Many Eastern Europeans use the N word to describe us and others chose to use it as a term for friend which is not right. London has a high percentage of black people also leading to an illusion that we are a lot nationally in the Uk which is false.

What you said about privileged people speaking on the oppressed and making a platform off of it makes so much sense. As a trans person, I do side eye cis people whose entire perception of transness is 'trans women are women', pronouns and new names. Yet, they are able to be viewed as allies even so far as being invited to speak about transness when their views are simply 'respect people' rather than actually dismantling the gender binary. I also feel the same about men who speak on Andrew Tate. Instead of really understanding what is happening, they just simply discard him as an incel because it's easier to call someone an extremist since then, it allows men to absolve themselves from being complicit in how they view dating. Because Andrew Tate's views aren't novel, nor are they radical. They're pretty much the norm; they're just repackaged in a boisterous and attention-seeking personality.
