My only worry is that the new abilities and effects will clog the screen too much to the point where I don’t know what’s going on. Like those mobile games with “good” graphics but really it’s just way too many particle effects and colors. If they can balance that well enough then I am very excited.

I was thinking the same thing. Beads doesn’t turn you yellow it’s just words by your character. In all that with all the particles it feels like everything is going to be too much. I think they will turn down the particles by the full release

A thing to note is that there are a lot more graphics options and there are more graphically intensive options, from what I saw anyways. Lower settings look dramatically better than maximum settings on Smite 1. Upscaling, primarily DLSS and FSR, is supposed to be used in tandem with Lumen to off-set the performance cost. If it is not present now then they should absolutely look to add it at some point. No one wants to run Lumen at native and have their FPS destroyed.

I was out of smite since graduating college in 2018, recently came back to geab the amc skin and had to play and everything is already very different for me. Got rocked in the first games because i could not figure out which gods i was fighting nor teamed with because the skins are on another level, items are very different and new gods were just mysteries. Very much appreciate this rundown of smite 2

Sadly only conquest, "for now" as far as we've been told. I'm sure a lot of people won't bother with smite 2 because of things like one mode, minimal gods compared to what they had, different itemization and relearning for a game that already existed.

I'd argue there's no real difference between Assault and Arena besides a different map and slight difference. I think the only gamemodes should be Conquest, Assault and Duel.

Naw, 100% missing out. Verticality forces people to aim in different directions more often instead of just left to right. Forces line of sight and ways to out play based on elevations you're not paying attention to. Zero verticality smite 2 is the same as smite 1... A flat pop-up book with stuff growing from a piece of paper.

I play Smite since beta and I got 13 conquest games. All of them because some of my friends wanted to try it out. And what should I say... none of them stuck with conquest.

Yep. This is me. 68% Assault, 22% Arena, 8% Slash lol. Played since Year 1, 9 Conquest matches. It's SO unfriendly. I'm going to try it in Smite 2, but they can't re-code a player base that is impatient and toxic. The people I run into can be jerks, but I've actually found a lot of great players not doing conquest.

It's pretty unfortunate that this has been your experience. Smite is absolutely a MOBA before anything else, and if that's not a game mode you want to play, that's a potential MOBA player that Smite loses, which sucks for it's popularity. Maybe removing the side gamemodes will push the side gamemode mains to actually wholeheartedly try Conquest and play it, and maybe push them away from the game, giving way to those that want to actually play a MOBA. Sucks for people like you but I would absolutely like this game to be a relevant MOBA.

All thats gonna happen when they remove the other modes is that most of those players will stop playing the game. "pretty unfortunate" ? I had a blast these past years only playing those modes! I play what is fun and not what is competitive. And Conquest is not fun for different reasons. Also I dont play games for ranked because it feels like a second job for me if i do.

Hoping for more God reworks. Some God Abilities that just augment other abilities should get folded into those abilities and those Gods should get REAL abilities in their place. Achilles, Ares, Ah Puch, I'm looking at you.

Ares bruh? 1) Plz god dont buff Ares and Achilles. 2) Ares 2 gives defenses, it dosent augment his other abilities. 3) Ah puch needs a FULL rework not just his 2, his whole kit and passive revolves around his 2 and its awful. Ah puch, Achilles, and probably other gods do suffer from this tho

you mean buffs on the character? Ares and Achilles have buffs but I don't think their abilities change another ability. Ah Puch does have but I don't think it's an issue since he has no getaway skill. It's only an "issue" in Assault, which is ok for me, unless your teammate is doodoo.

@@Eternally_Ninja Honestly Ares 2 should just be reworked because it doesn't fit his playstyle, and just has had a bunch of random stats thrown onto it over time, so it's become OP. I hope they change that ability into something that Ares can use when fighting more, so that he can become a solo lane or jungle god. He's just a toxic god in the support role.

From smite one? Yeah use it all gems are gonna be turned into legacy gems with half purchase power. Basically taking 50% off of smite 2 stuff until they are all used. I think that’s more for purchased gems but idk. There should have been a pop up for how many legacy gems you’d get for purchasing founders

Only gems that you've spent will be converted to legacy gems. So spend them all! Favour will not transfer over, so you can spend that as well, but will get nothing for it in smite 2

The Morrigan ult is already programmed into Smite 2, STRICTLY for testing purposes so they can test every new God that comes out to test bugs and glitches and patch it as it happens, She isnt playable yet, but is only being used internally.

I just would like to add another thing keeping people from playing ranked or even conquest is, it feels so much slower and its not new player friendly in the slightest because there are constant changes within months of eachother and every single year, granted at least half of those people wouldn't even look conquests way but if they did they're in for pain

I think the SMITE 2 dev team is putting to much into the visuals and forgetting this is a MOBA , yes we want nice visuals but we care more about performance by adding all theses visuals all you're going to do is have every one turn 90% of the visuals off or on the lowest settings. Again we know this "ALPHA" but i hope they really put effort into optimization because yes visuals are nice but more people care about good performance and frame rate over ohh look when i move near this wall the.. wall lights up and it's soo yeah ...no ones going to be doing that lol I don't know incons gaming rig but i'm going to assume he has a very high end computer with a high end CPU and GPU and if he's only getting 120 fps and what was it 60 FPS on direct x 12 and 120 on direct x 11 that's a huge issue

Yes it's the founders edition that grants you access to the alpha and closed beta. The full version of the game won't release until 2025, that's why I'm saying the date is just a placeholder. Early alpha will start already next month, but will be available only a few weekends.

On the contrary 11 god (hero) pool is much smaller than current Smite god (hero) pool. I took a break from Smite and Dota then came back from years of LoL, just to get rekt because the learning curve increased. New gods where I had no idea what they did, new heroes and items in Dota 2. It's best for everyone to jump on Smite 2 before you're left in the dust. Nowadays everyone knows what you can do in LoL and the game forces you to play with lower skill level players who know, but everyone has their own anime hero agenda. Smite and Dota 2 even lower ranks understand structure and not only know what you're going to do, but at least have some idea of how to play as a team. The toxicity is surprisingly worse in LoL than Dota 2. I mean Dota 2 is still bad, but when you have a good team at least Dota 2 you can give each other a commend at the end. Smite was toxic, but not as bad as LoL. I think Hi Rez has a chance to make this truly a Legendary game.

Completely disagree about the new active system. Having 6 additional active buttons, most on different keybind every game... Insanely bad. This will never be fluid and fun for 90% of the players. Just make the other relics stronger and people will not buy the same every game. It really is that easy. Instead they doing a big mess...

If you ran 6 actives you're most likely completely throwing. I'd imagine, if stats are being heavily sacrificed on active items, buying more than 2 actives at the most would be throwing. Stats are extremely important. There would be no reason for you to have to use more than 2 extra buttons (one of which replaces a missing relic slot from smite 1 so really you just have 1 extra button in smite 2. You're welcome)

Because Smite 1 was made as a cash grab 12 years ago which no one expected to last this long. Smite 2 is made with different expectations on a modern engine which is easier to work with.

I was EXTREMELY excited for Smite2 previously. I was really hoping for an actual reworking; maybe make the map 3d (similar to how Paragon was), maybe give us all completely new maps, etc. Instead it's just slightly updated graphics with everything else staying the same. Very disappointed. I don't think this will bring a new crowd into Smite, I think it will just bring some of the old playerbase back for a few months.

im dead against smite 2, idk why but changing the engine and its easy graphics and how awful the game actually runs is the heart of the game and why i enjoy it, the days when they shut down smite 1 will be endgame for smite for me
