Hi guys, I am Alex.
I am an Ukrainian expat who moved to Portugal.
No one in my family ever did any farming, But I discovered that I am very passionate about farming so recently I've purchased this 28 hectares Farm in Central Portugal, with the intention to start a small scale farm raising worms, cattle and sheep.
In this little farm I am also planning to build an off grid home, and be as self sufficient as possible, by growing my own food.
I created this channel to share my journey with the world, The journey of a first generation farmer, that is starting with no prior knowledge and experiences.
That maybe all the mistakes that I will make along this journey, and all the fails maybe will help some of you to learn from my mistake and not make them yourself.
I want to bring value and inspire people who are thinking about farming.
I am not a filmmaker or an editor, I am just a simple guy with a camera.

I am sorry to hear that you lost your dog, I know how that feels after mine also passed at the age of 15. It's hard to deal with, but, I take comfort in knowing that we gave her an amazing life and she left when she was ready to go over the rainbow bridge. - As for you other dog going to the farm, have you considered building a large open air enclosure for the dog? It would be a shame for Angelica not to have the freedom to spend with you, as she's so used to that.

Alex. When we start watching certain vlogs we tend to identify with the people and you are not imposing for telling us the good, the bad and the ugly. It’s what life is all about. Recently a vlog in Portugal lost a member . I cried like it was family. And for several days it was on my mind. So now that you share your story about the dog we understand your pain for most of us at some point or another have lost a dog or cat too. Bring your dog to your work area and several times a day try to bring them together. Eventually they might just get along. Big hug to you and carry on with the great work you both are doing. Hi Alex. Thank you for this video and your willingness to share your personal life with us. I'm very sorry you've lost your "friend". I've had horses, dogs and cats most of my life and they're all gone now. It took a long time to get used to, and I still miss them very much. I've also cared for farm animals, worked as a veterinary assistant and also for big horse farms, training show horses. So, all that said, one safe solution would be to build a very strong dog kennel of adequate size that your dog can't break thru or dig out of. I'm not so sure, at this point in time, since they are both fully grown, that it's reasonable to expect Shiza and Angela to accept each other. Since Angela is accustomed to free roaming at the farm and poses no threat of danger she is the one I would allow to be free. Since Shiza accepts no other animals then it would always be risky to have her loose. But if she has a large kennel with space to run around and a place to get inside then that would keep everyone safe. Just food for thought. Thanks again for giving us a glimpse into your life and allowing us to know you better. Take care. 🥰

Now I understand Angela's role out on the farm. Thankyou for sharing your private life. I expected that you must be living in town somewhere. It can't be easy being a stranger in town. You seem to be managing very well apart from the sheep and the neighbour and even that ended reasonably well. How is your young Ram surviving Angela's confidence? Has it put on any nuscle yet? He did look under nourished. All the best. Can your Mum cook Pylmeni ?

We have had many pets over more than 60 years. I have found that when a dog or cat knows a new animal arrives to their home and we introduce them to each other and we show them continuing love with a form no for any aggression shown, they soon learn. At one time in a large suburban back yard, we had, 3 cats, 2 small dogs, a rescued duck, a French lappin rabbit and 2 Guineapigs. All had free rank of a secure back yard and none were locked in cages. All did their own thing including gathering around me for a pet and cuddle. All were sterilised accept for guinepigs and duck. Had to sterilise our big rabbit as he kept trying to mate with the cats. One big happy family. Trouble is when they pass away, it brakes your heart, but they make your life so much richer with the love they give. Best wishes Yvonne from Australia x

Prayers; we had a rescue dog--black lab--the sweetest dog ever; he passed away of old age--and we have not looked for a replacement; he was family --we travel a lot--that is one reason we have not taken in animals ; but our love and respect for animals is high on the list. but like you say--one never knows how they respond to new environments.

Losing a pet you have had one half of your life is tough. The sadness is normal grieving for your loss. Many of us have been through the loss of a beloved pet but the memories will always be with you. Your Current guard dog is a serious concern which I feel sure you will address. Perhaps a chain or a fenced in paddock might be a solution but whatever you decide I feel sure you will have thought is through and will be in the best interest of all the animals. I appreciate a lot that you finally talk a bit about what is moving your heart. I think it is honouring you. It is a real pleasure to still have your parents with you but even if your dad is helping you day by day rebuilding your farm house with his fantastic skills and detailed knowledge in what he is doing, probably you need a human friend of your age close to you. ---- I fully participate to the loss of your beloved dog. Such deep sorrow makes us feel extremely lonesome, it lays for a long time on us like a never ending shadow. So concentrate on your farm project and give all your love to your second dog, cute Angela and her new young sheep friend. Believe me, the day will come this sorrow shadow will be taken off you. My man Alex, i understand your concearns. What i can say to you is that you need to introduce them to eachother slowly... maybe a fence in-between them so that one could smell the other, hear, etc.... the first thing that is important is for them to get used to the smell and "voice" of the other... the only thing you need is to have patience and time... more or less, but i thing they will get along and then together they can annoy you and your father doing the renovation ;) Don't stress over it ;)

Hi Alex, could you set up an area for the dog with a shelter and an enclosed run so the dog is with you on the farm but can’t get to the sheep. Nick & Andrea from Project Portugal have a big area for their guard dog Max, while their other dogs live in the house with them and are no trouble around their other animals but Max would be a different matter; may be chat with Nick.

Take it easy. You will see how calmly and with small approximations, your dog and your sheep end up understanding each other. If not, when you are installed on your farm, you can always have a space for each of the two, without rubbing against each other.

It says, besides being a guard dog, that they were also bred to herd cattle. Hopefully, your dog will consider Angela a fuzzy cow. Thanks for sharing. The dog and sheep issue, all you can do is go with the flow. It might take time and patients but youll be fine . Dogs and sheep can be friends. If not a large pen for one or the other. you can always let one out and one in the pen for safety. There animals and they have natural instincts and cant get upset with them. Just work with them. Just so you know, I think it's fairly safe to say that there are a LOT of your viewers who really do care about the things you say, what's going on in your life, etc. As somebody who tends to binge all the way through from beginning to end of all the videos when I find a channel like yours that I really enjoy, I can let you know that after a few videos, ya tend to start feeling a connection to the people you're watching. I hope you can find a happy solution for both animals and works well for you and your dad. Maybe an enclosure for your dog where he can see you. A dog trainer might be able to suggest what might be an option. I hope your mum is ok ❤
