This is a cool experiment. He designed all the core components of an overhead-valve single cam engine. This is likely not rigged, as you can see the spark, the exhaust exiting the engine, the engine pulling air through the jar along with fuel vapors. The fact that he included a secondary air valve on the intake shows that he thought it through, because it would need that to get the air/fuel mixture right. However, he has no oiling system, other than 2 cycle oil in the fuel. This will do almost nothing to oil the compressor bearings and cylinder walls. Also the compressor might use plastic or nylon parts like rings that can't withstand the heat.

Kinda makes you want to hunt down an old fridge, eh? It's amazing the skills that still exist in "3rd world" countries. Our 4WD club used to world with a metal shop in Pakistan that basically made NLA parts by hand for the club when we got an order together. Made by and, and cheap enough to ship around the world to US customers. That was before 9-11...

FANTASTIC! - I hope the Let's Learn Something dude sees this regarding why motor starts running a little rough after a while - It's be cause of the heat exchange effect taking place in the bubbler caused by evaporation. The liquid fuel gets icy cold where evaporation slows right down. Keep the bubbler warm with the exhaust and it will run even better!

Why on earth would ANYONE give this a thumbs down? Jealousy? Genius. Thank you. I’m showing to my grandson what’s possible.
@LordOrwell4 жыл бұрын
perhaps because the compressor isn't designed for heat and will probably be internally melted within hours. Not to mention that normal compressor usage keeps the cylinders lubricated. How's he oiling it? Also there's no way to control the air/fuel mixture, which is why it's smoking so bad. It's flooding. Or maybe the jank of that spark plug wire? He's got an open can of gas next to that thing. Or maybe that it requires a battery to stay running? He could have put a condensor on it, making that unnecessary. It's a good idea in theory but it was already shaking apart by the end of the video.
