You'd be astonished what some people will do. There's a case where some women in Michigan working as secretaries at a church just destroyed the life of a clergyman by spreading rumors exactly like that. Even when the truth came out about the accusations being nothing more than a pack of lies, no one could ever look at the man the same again. He ended up having to move and even left his calling. The women's reason for their attack? They said (and I swear I am not making this up) "He walked funny. And we were just tired of seeing it every day." I hope the man in that last story sued that woman into the middle of next week.
