When I was a kid I was on the "zipper" with my cousin at a fair. While the ride was going the door opened which was so scary. Ever since then I just cant ride anything at a fair.
@pseula4 жыл бұрын
@@jodiemeisenholder789 I rode the zipper with my older brother when I shouldn't have been allowed on as per the height restriction. I don't remember this (that's how small I was!), but my brother tells me I slipped right out from under whatever restraint was in place and he spent the entire ride stretched out trying to pin me to the ceiling/floor so I didn't get bashed about too badly, and screaming for the attendant to stop the ride. They didn't hear him. I was obviously fine, but telling this story even today (I'm in my 40s now) still leaves my brother visibly shaken...

When I was a little kid, probably around 7 years old or so, my dad took me to a small carnival at a local park in our rural Oregon town. After a while, we mutually decided to go try a ride called The Octopus. For anyone unfamiliar, this is a ride that looks like a giant shiny black octopus with booth-like pod cars at the end of each arm. The arms spin around the head of the octopus very fast while also waving up & down as they spin, & the cars themselves spin 'round at the tips of the arms as well. The only thing that held patrons in their seats was a single metal bar that was lowered into & laid across their laps that you could hold onto and footrests on the floor. I don't remember seeing a height sign for the ride, & I think my dad must've figured that if it weren't safe for me that the operator surely would've said something & not let me on, & it SHOULD have been safe from what I've seen of recent videos of kids on this ride now. Looking back, I'm not 100% sure what happened to cause the event to unfold the way that it did. But anyway, we got on & sat down... my feet didn't reach the footrests. When the car's speed started cooking along, I could feel my body starting to slip down, beyond where the slick hard plastic seat curved, where your bum should be. This startled me, & I started to white-knuckle the "safety bar". The speed & force of the car increased, & I started slipping even further down. I could feel my body was heading UNDER the bar. I screamed to my dad that I was slipping, & he immediately grabbed onto me the best he could with both hands, trying to wrap his arms around me. The force trying to rip me from his desperate grasp was so strong that I thought for sure I was going to be sucked out from under that bar & that I would die. It felt like titans were playing tug-o-war with my body, & it felt like dad just couldn't get a secure enough grip on me. I screamed in panic, BEGGING my dad to help, & just continually repeating that I was slipping & that I couldn't hold on. Idk if the operator noticed what was happening, or if we were just lucky, but just soon enough, the ride began to slow. The gradual release of all of that immense force washed over me as my sense of relief began to stabilize. Once the car came to a stop & the now seemingly pointless bar had lifted, I booked it off the ride. I waited for my pops while he had a few words with the operator, & then we left... & I never rode The Octopus ever again.

Honestly if that was me in story number 4 I would have laughed and sung along with them and then I would have looked at all of them and told them that before that ride was over I would take one of them out with me if not all of them then I'll be the only one walking off the ride. People are less likely to try to hurt you if you show them you can be just as crazy as they are, if not crazier.

Whenever someone starts one of these stories with something along the lines of "I know you're heard a lot of fake stories on the internet, but I swear this one is true ya gotta believe me!" I am immediately suspicious.
@ElFreakinCid4 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure that isn't what was said, and maybe these disclaimers wouldn't be necessary if so many asshole commenters weren't all "I don't want to believe there are crazy people or unexplained things in the world/I can't put myself in this person's shoes/I don't like that this story isn't worded like spur-of-the-moment scared-shitless verbal diarrhea, FAAAAAKE!"

I remember I hadn't been awhile after growing up going every year because my parents are sweet. Went as an adult a few years back with my dad and he had to personally break up a physical fight between girls and the concerts we used to attend werent even available. A couple years later after bringing my toddler and it was remarkably smaller (far few rides) and over priced admission, tickets and food/drink. Last year there were even more limited rides and even less people. Got called out by so many vendors trying to get my son to play their tricky games for a cheap ass prize 🙄

I dont trust any ride put up overnight. Lol I dont trust rides that have taken years to build. Ive just heard too many nightmare stories, and had close calls as a kid on those rides. Someone was killed at our state fair over the last few years on one of those rides that were put up overnight. No way will I ever get on an amusement ride again..well maybe a merry-go-round with the grandbabies..nothing more.

I don't trust the "carnies" in general! We used to ride the ferris wheels in the 60s when they were little more than a bench with only thin frames and bolts. Sometimes those carnies would give them a good push when the ride was starting and that was a scare you won't get on any rides today. SMH!
