Honestly when people say they are not gay anymore I’m pretty sure they were bisexual in denial… I’m a gay man and tried my best to change my sexuality but it’s impossible for someone like me. I even grew up in a religious background, had super religious parents and on top of that my parents would only let me hang out with my church friends who were all of course straight or at least some that I know of.. (who knows some of them could be closeted 🤷🏻♂️) And I would always envied those who say they were gay but changed to straight because honestly life would be so much easier for me if I was a straight man.. But throughout the years I’ve come to a conclusion and learned to accept and love who I am because I KNOW that I am born this way. That’s why when someone says they were gay but turned themselves straight, doesn’t make any sense to me because if they were “gay” then what are people like me? I’m pretty sure they were bisexual in denial for all I know. People need to stop calling them gay and making us look like we can change because that is not true at all.

Little Richard was so innovative and impactful and the crowd basically laughed him off like a joke. He probably dealt with that all his life, including growing up and in his family and music and creativity became his outlet for dealing with it, and this eccentric, brilliant personality emerged. @@teammmx So true. They say there’s a ‘gay agenda’ and ‘stop forcing your lifestyle down our throats’ when in fact the ‘agenda’ is a ‘straight agenda’ and has been forever. Lgbtq+ have been jailed, evicted, threatened, fired, beaten in the street, forced into ‘conversion therapy’ , murdered, etc etc etc, all for being lgbtq+ , and it’s only by straight people. The straight agenda has always and will always try to force their straight ‘lifestyle’ down others throats. I’m straight, and an lgbtq+ ally, always have been since I was young, I went on marches with gay friends in the 1980s, still support where I can. I also remember friends being terrified in certain dangerous ‘straight agenda’ situations so I’d pretend to be their girlfriend, and have my arm around them, or holding hands, pretending to kiss them etc, all to stop the ‘straight agenda’ beating them up. I had a camp gay teacher in (1980s) high school, he was being verbally abused so often, I reported the boys in my class and they did get into big trouble. Straight people have never experienced such prejudices for being straight and it infuriates me that they think there’s a ‘gay agenda’ when it’s they who are the perpetrators and always have been.

Oh my goodness... listening to Little Richard tell his life story and sing "One Day At A Time" showed his deep vulnerability and inner strength. God can change anyone.

I think that after this evangelical period for him he went back to being gay.

@firenze5555 no... actually, he became an evangelist up until he died a few years ago.

@@jasonperry00 He did another interview more than 10 years after this one saying that he was gay and he was gay all his life. It's kind of sad - his personal preferences are really no one's business. He certainly grew up in a culture in the South where gay was very taboo so I'm not surprised he was trying to pray away the gay. I don't care what he did in private - he was a very talented person.

What a great singer! Little Richard's speaking and singing were a pleasure to listen to on Letterman's show. Wonderful testimony! God bless his soul up in heaven.

He’s a beautiful soul. The fact that he was a flamboyant gay black man during a time when even being black alone was incredibly dangerous, yet he still succeeded, survived, and brought joy to millions…..is nothing short of a miracle. This man deserves eternal respect and gratitude for being a trailblazer and survivor. God bless Little Richard.

@@nC_DUKE_ He probably went through SRA sexual abuse to get broken into the industry. This comes from trauma anyway.

Richard was honored by many institutions. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of its first group of inductees in 1986. He was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He was the recipient of Lifetime Achievement Awards from The Recording Academy and the Rhythm and Blues Foundation. In 2015, Richard received a Rhapsody & Rhythm Award from the National Museum of African American Music for his key role in the formation of popular music genres and helping to bring an end to the racial divide on the music charts and in concert in the mid-1950s changing American culture significantly. "Tutti Frutti" was included in the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2010, which stated that his "unique vocalizing over the irresistible beat announced a new era in music".
