@ApostolicChristianity

@@prayerwarrior3805 I wouldn't call this passage a teaching on tithes. I know Mike has done a video on tithes, I would look that up. The point of this passage is that even though the widow gave a small amount it was all she had therefore it was more significant then a larger gift from someone with great wealth.

Thank you for the commentary on Jesus being careful and purposefully cryptid at first to avoid being crucified too soon. My brother recently was unsure about why Jesus would purposefully speak in a way to confuse people (as Jesus plainly admits when asked why he speaks in parables), and I didn't know either. The answer you gave makes sense, and sets my heart at ease.

Thank Mike! I always find your teachings and messages encouraging, uplifting and biblically sound. Thank you brother for all your work and for those that help behind the scenes. I first came to knowledge of Christ and later accepting Him as Lord in a Pentecostal (charismatic) Church in my early 20s because the only "Christian" friend I knew was a Pentecostal (charismatic), lol. I've always had a special place in my heart for the Pentecostal (charismatic) denomination because they were so open, accepting and patient with me as a new believer. I would backslide and walk away from the church but I never forget what I learned. Later in life when I began to take my faith seriously and returned to the Lord, I still remember the first group of Christians that showed me the love of Christ. While I am not currently in the Pentecostal or Charismatic faith traditions, I fellowship with a Church of Christ congregation, I still hold up that first Pentecostal church I attended (also the actual FIRST church I ever attended) as the model for "Christian" love when I'm looking for a church family. I've been fellowshiping with my current congregation for over 6 years now because I truly believe that they have modeled what it means to be the "family of God". I sometimes disagree with some of your positions and the positions of the charismatic church but I also know that we are brothers and sisters in the Lord and while we may disagree we can still love one another and strive to serve Christ as a body of believers. I say all that just to let you know how much I appreciate all you do and how much it helps me in my own walk with the Lord. Even though we are from different faith backgrounds, we can still learn from one another. I love ya like a brother and if I never get the opportunity to meet with you in this life, you're one of the first people (aside from Jesus) I want to meet in the Kingdom! Thanks again for all you do. God bless.

Things going on with me seem to be lining up with things you are teaching lately or when I encounter older videos. It's so very obvious that you are praying for the Holy Spirit to work through you. I'm seriously weeping at times because I get so touched by the Lord as I am watching. It may not be topic specific, but even something completely personal that has validated something that I needed to hear. It blows my mind that so many are being blessed by this ministry at a time where there is so much noise on the internet. I find myself spontaneously praising God at times listening as well. Stay humble and focused, brother. Truth, truth, truth. Spirit and truth. He's so beautiful. I can't wait to see Him face to face. Thank you for bringing forth these gems.

I believe the bible because I believe Jesus. This sentence explains my relationship with scripture, exactly. I used to not care about Paul writings the old testament and even Peter. I was actually getting into the book of enoch, because I was looking for "secret knowledge" then I heard an argument that Jesus quoted from enoch, and I started really looking into what Jesus and said and what he believed, because I thought, if anyone's right, it's him. As a result I've become progressively less progressive. God bless you all.

That’s the beauty of Jesus Himself being the Word of God. He literally _is_ the Word! “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:35‬ ‭KJV‬‬ “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” ‭‭John‬ ‭1:1-3, 14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The way I tend to look at the difference between core doctrine and tradition is something like this. Know the difference between what your anchor is implanted into (core doctrine) and what is the line that you let out that's attached to the anchor (tradition). So, tradition is the line that you can let out if need be or you can pull it back in and get back closer to core doctrine at any time. The point being, you will never be in danger of teaching a false gospel if your anchor is firmly fixed. If you allow yourself control over traditions that may or may not need reigning in at some point. Letting your line out too far could lead to issues, so the ability to pull yourself back in is important.

Do you think we may have false expectations of what Christ’s second coming looks like? Similar to how the Jews were not expecting the Messiah to live like and be Jesus?
@coryharasha
@coryharasha 3 жыл бұрын
I definitely think this. I think Christ's second coming is in the hearts and minds of all his followers as we collectively form the body of Christ. So from one perspective, Christ has already returned, but simultaneously, his return won't be complete until all the Elect have accepted Christ into their hearts and then we will be raptured away into Heaven through a splitting of timelines - one group to Heaven and one group to destruction. The splitting of timelines has already begun on Earth between those who still put their trust in the mainstream media and those who trust in the Holy Spirit's guidance instead.

@@coryharasha if you think God's return is going to come by the obedience, commands and plans of man that puts much emphasis on works and not grace, indeed, on man and not God; being caught up in heavenly ideals and experiences is not Heaven itself. It seems that when Jesus Christ comes back he is coming back to avenge the blood shed of all His Saints as the king of kings and lord of lords and he will set up his kingdom forever...

Love this series but feel this talk is more like an introduction to this passage, unlike most of the other presentations. There are more generalisations without the usual references. The "I am" response in chapter 14 of Mark I could not see translated as "You said it" in any popular translation. If the Greek does show this, I'm not sure how to find that. Applications are very useful. Used this as springboard to look deeper into those areas introduced in this talk. Very useful for that. Ps the Melchizidek link is awesome. Watch it.

How to answer someone who asks, 'Am I going to hell?' in the manner you were asked could be to reply 'Why? Do you think that's a bad thing? Why do you think hell is such a bad place?' Then go on to say that the reason hell is a terrible place is because it's a place where God is wholly absent and if you live this life wishing there wasn't a God then hell is where you go and get what you thought you wanted. May be something along those lines? Guess people know hell is a terrible place of suffering but they probably don't know why. No God = no love, just you and perfect fear. Feel the need to finish this comment with John 6:40 - 'For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.'

As I've gone through the gospel of Mark on my own and with these videos, I definitely see the progressive revelation of Jesus's identity in Mark. This wouldn't be a problem for me if the gospel of John didn't have Jesus making more obvious claims about his deity throughout his ministry. Where in Mark Jesus seems to be slowly revealing more and more, John has Jesus making even bolder claims throughout all of it. I know these videos are from a while ago, but I can't seem to find any direction on this concern, so if anyone can help reconcile this issue for me that would be awesome.

Hi Mike. Psalm 110:3 might be referring to the bodies of the resurrected saints. I make this connection via Isa 26:19 which has similar language. Isaiah 26:19 19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

That is a misinterpretation of the Scripture. The “men” of that day believed Jesus to merely be a prophet (Mark 8:27, 28), but His disciples recognized and acknowledged Him to be “the Christ” (Mark 8:29, 30). Jesus’ question, “Whom do you say that I am?” was a test of faith to His disciples-not a deceitful question to trap someone else into speaking a lie on Jesus’ behalf. Jesus is God, and God cannot lie (Titus 1:2); it is against His character and nature.

I've heard a good way to do it (when preaching the gospel) is to go through scripture / 10 commandments. Have you ever lied before? If yes, well alright, so you're a liar. Have you ever stolen anything before? No? How about an illegal download? Ok, so you have stolen something before, so you're a thief. ... Then to ask them, well according to the Bible it says (insert scripture pertaining to our sins separating us from God and that without Jesus' sacrifice we would be lost in our sins and eternally separated from Him), based on this, if you were to die today, do you think you would go to heaven or hell?

46:20 _if you believe in Jesus, you should come to trust the Bible, too_ This is my dilemma. Watching this series on Mark has given me more evidence than I ever thought existed for the account of Jesus, but at the same time, there are multiple things in the old testament for which evidence is against. So what to think? Marcionism doesn’t work. You have to accept the Bible, or dismiss the divinity of Jesus. I’ll keep on seeking.

I have had that asked before too. I say yes as well. I also tell them I do not wish that they laugh it off and consider the possibility that Christians are right about eternity. If we are right, it is an eternal consequence to avoid Jesus. If we are wrong, we enjoy the best and most moral life with others... But history and archaeology seem to point to the validity of scripture.

I think a better way to respond would be with the Gospel. “We have all sinned and the penalty of sin is death. Salvation is the free gift of God that we don’t deserve and can’t earn by our works. We are saved only by God’s grace through faith in Christ’s atonement. Jesus Christ shed His blood to redeem us, died for our sins in our place as our substitute, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. Do you believe in Him, that He did that for you?”

Could there be a little more to the man being blind? Without seeing, he heard the scriptures and believed that Jesus was. Yesterday, today and tomorrow we try to see things for how we want them rather than accepting them based on what God has told us. I do not want to add anything unnecessary just thought about it going through this study.

I've seen his deity claims in the same light. Is there any way to defend against the notion that Christ only claims to be greater than other humans (Abraham, David, etc) only because he is resurrected first and has preeminence in that regard? Some unitarians see it that way so that he's "not merely human" but is "the exception", yet isn't deity...Does scripture leave room for this kind of interpretation?

Colossians 2:8 Just a thought... isn't it hypocritical of people, that when they have a child, they will train them and teach them, for example, to not touch a hot stove, because there are consequences, that will cause pain etc, because it's out of love and care, yet to take warning from God has become such a problem. Sin hardens the heart. It prevents repentence. Being given over by God to a reprobate mind is scary. Nevertheless... God still knocks on the door of His childrens hearts to answer His call. HEBREWS 5:12-14 (RC Sproul... so on point! Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee - quoted by David) Wisdom... the way Jesus answered them about giving to Ceaser what belongs to Ceasar and giving to God what belongs to God... and yet ultimately, they lied that He was speaking against his law by leading people away from paying taxes just because they wanted him crucified and could not find fault with Him.

This verse has been butchered in translation; there are three main mistakes. First of all, the first instance of "my Lord" is the Tetragrammaton, which is God's Name, and the second is the word _adoni,_ ( *not* Adon-ai) which means "my lord" or "my master" in reference to a human being. Check the Hebrew and you'll see that these are the words used. This is the same term _(adoni)_ is the one that Ephron (Genesis 23:6) used to refer to Abraham, which is why our interpretation of this text is that David was speaking about Abraham (my master). Secondly, the Hebrew says, "The _word_ of the Lord said to my master," - "word" has been omitted. Thirdly, it doesn't say "The word of my Lord _said_ to my master" - the word "said" has been added in the translation. The literal translation reads, _"Of David a psalm. The word of the Lord to my master; "Wait for My right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool at your feet."_

Yahweh is the most appropriate given what we know about Hebrew. Jehovah has several issues; first there is no “J” sound in Hebrew. 2nd, we know from the manuscripts that Jehovah came from the scribes taking the vowels from other holy names “Elohim, Adoni etc” and substituting these over the consonants YHVH so they would know what reverent name to say instead of the “Holy Name”.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you at the 41 or 42 minute mark where you're talking about the bias of scholars. But if they said David wrote that Psalm because Jesus said he did, that's belief, but not scholarship. For example, you couldn't point to that person's work to convince others of the truth of biblical events. Not from a scholarly point of view, anyway. I think there is an important distinction here.

Another good example of naturalistic bias is in interpreting Daniel and assigning its date. They will acknowledge the correctness of Daniel's prophecies... and then conclude that the book must have been written after the prophesied events occurred. There is nothing "unbiased" about smuggling your assumptions into your conclusions.

It would be impossible for Jesus to 'die for our sins' today, in olden days,even centuries later than those biblical times the death penalty was given for what today we would call minor crimes, or hardly crimes at all, (people preaching stuff, claiming to be a messiah etc) just in those ancient times these things were taken very seriously, but would hardly be noticed today so today Jesus would literally have to commit suicide, of course him knowing the primitive laws of the time people will say that is what he did as he 'had to die for our sins' (some way)

I get see where you are coming from, but Christians around the world are killed daily simply for their faith in Christ. If Jesus’ first advent were in modern times, I believe the religious world would be just as hostile and “primitive” today as it was 2000 years ago. I’m just thankful that our Lord Jesus Christ finished the work on the cross to obtain eternal redemption for us, and that He offers salvation as a free gift, which we simply receive by grace through faith.

In Mark 12:35 the word "Christ" Jesus surname and "Mesiah" have the same meaning the anointed one king of king and savior not only for the Jews but also the world mankind. Jesus called son of David in the flesh. because in Matthew 1:17 Jesus was a fourteen generation of son of David. David was the forefather of David in the fourteen generation of his parent from Mary and Joseph used as an instrument for Jesus incarnation to become a man. In Mark 10:47 people shouted "Jesus, son of David most of the people knew that the Mesiah came from the generation if the family of David. In Mark 12:36 the Lord said to my Lord sit at my right hand this was quoted from Psalm 110:1. the capitalize proper noun Lord means God. Psalm 100:3 The Lord is God. Lord in Hebrew Adonai in Greek Kyrious. God in Hebrew Elohim in Greek Theo means Almighty enternal creator. In Mark 16:19 after Jesus Christ spoken to deciples, Jesus rose up to heaven and sit at the right hand of God the Father. The Lord Jesus Christ sit at the right hand of the Lord the Father.

Hi guys have a serious question/dilemma and would appreciate advice/prayers. My sibling (young adult heterosexual believer but lukewarm id say) spent the night at our house with their friend. I went to the bathroom at night and heard what i believed to be kissing/smooches i stayed a bit longer to hear and make sure I'm not hearing things but I believe what i heard was correct :/ how would u go confronting/asking them about it? Would u: Confront/ask them bluntly about it Ask without confronting that they need to be careful with their emotions around each other even same sex/gender since it happens and can lead to homosexual acts. Ask/confront with my mother in about it

From a Jewish perspective, heritage is biological and patrilineal. Christianity teaches that Jesus was virgin-born, not conceived through the agency of a human father. So Jesus is either descended from David patrilineally or he is virgin-born. The Jew will say you cannot have it both ways. This is but one of the stumbling blocks for Jews with respect to Christianity's truth claims. The Jewish concept of the Messiah is a human ruler descended patrilineally from David.

In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus is the hiden Messiah. Israel did not recognize Jesus as the Messiah because their hearts were hardened and also Jesus refuse to declare publicly who he was. Why? Because he has to suffer. The Messiah is not a triumphant but humiliated figure here. Mark 8:24 The title of Messiah is not rejected exclusively but it usually pass over here in term of Son of Man i.e Jesus was the Messiah but not the expected one not the triumphant one. A different kind of Messiah and even as he recalls he was not the Messiah at all. At one point in Mark Jesus referred to the Messiah as he as someone else in any case as he the hiden Messiah. Half of Mark gospel is overshadowed by the passion directly to the cross. Mark was writing during the government of Nero there was persecution everywhere. Mark dumping on the disciples 4:13, 4:38, 4:41, 6:37, 6:50, 8:4, 8:14-21, 8:27-30, 8:31-33, 9:2, 10:30-32, 10:34, 10:35.

It doesn’t make sense for a Christian scholar to pretend Jesus isn’t Lord for the sake of scholarship. If you really believe he’s Lord, then, for you, being supernaturally agnostic when doing research is literally just denying facts. If Jesus said something happened in history and Jesus is lord... he’s just right. It doesn’t matter if that’s acceptable to atheists.
