I followed Fletcher for about less than 3 years now and I just discovered that these two where dating etc but the point being is I live in a country (Yemen +Russia) where being queer is like a crime and shannon this podcast have helped me to feel so much less lonelier and very welcomed . Just wanted to say as a 23 years old person who's closeted and has no people like u or any queer community this podcast and u Shannon have been the best thing I have ever encountered and came across to . I'm just saying that Miranda looked uncomfortable and Raven looked like she's more easy going and fun. I was so excited for this episode when I saw Raven because of my childhood, I just didn't really enjoy it and I don't think it had anything to do with her or Shannon. EDIT: I just watched the episode with Shannon on R&M's Pod and I liked her better there. She seems more relaxed and it seems like that's just how she is. Definetly seemed more comfortable and funny. (Maybe the 'podcasting on a bed' weirds out some people, idk)

I didn't know about this situation with Raven and Miranda on TikTok, but after some googling I did see some Black people bring up their feeling of anger and protection towards Raven. She is a trail blaser and such an icon within Black (worldwide) culture, and is so engraned into millions of people's fond childhood memories. I read this specific comment from a Black woman who said: "It always goes like this. Black cultural icons (Simone Biles, Rihanna, Ciara etc. develop friendship, co-worker-ships or romantic relationships with white people and then they go and publicly belittle or act like their career and public achievements, that helped inspire so many of us as children is beneath them or not important." I do think this is a major projection of the internal feeling of the very real dehumanisation and devaluing that Black women experience, particularly in the US pop culture. But thought it was an interesting added layer. Obviously, regardless of how you felt about the comment, none of what happened is okay and no one deserves that - especially not for such a throw away statement. 💛

hey Shannon, great work with the podcast, I've really enjoyed listening to every episode! if I may give you some feedback, I find myself lost with a lot of these conversations because it seems I'm missing important context. for example, who exactly are Raven and her Miranda? what do they do and why are famous? what is the tiktok scandal in question? I think a lot of context is missing and the podcast would be a lot easier to understand with more context!
