One interesting thing to consider: Lelouch can only geass someone _once._ Other users do not have this limit - in fact, only he seems to have it. I think his wish is to feel safe and have a way to fight back, if he ever needs to. He doesn't truly wants full control - every time he says something about "When all this is over", he almost always thinks of going back to Ashford Academy. And he must know it would probably not be possible, but he still wants it to be. He longs to be able to lead a normal life, at his very core!
@tslex64779 ай бұрын
it also one thing that didn't change no matter how powerful his geass become, so we can assume if any of other users had similar limitations they would not disappear with their geass evolving. We don't see much geass users who did not have the power for a long time in their lives at the moment of the story, so by making prior assumption we can for sure say lelouch really only character who we met who can use it exactly once per person. I also like you, love to think it's due to his wish to posess a power, but just enough to protect people he loves, because lelouch does value free will of people and have mixed feelings regarding taking it away, but feels like it's necessary
@СарраКарагозян9 ай бұрын
@@tslex6477 yes to all of this! Especially about his mixed feelings about people's free will. Sometimes I think he doesn't completely realise how much he values it until that final confrontation in the World of C
@Megalomaniac_Trans_Lesbian9 ай бұрын
I think his wish has two parts to it, both rooted in his trauma On one hand, he has convinced himself (in large part thanks to Charles) that the real reason tragedy befell his family was that he wasn't in control of anything at the time (not that a 9 year old could have controlled or prevented any of these events, but that's trauma for ya), hence why he's craved control over his life and environment ever since. He's always had tight schedules, intricate plans with multiple steps and failsafes, and extreme self-discipline. He's managed to reach a point where he believed he controlled himself and his circumstances perfectly (he didn't, but moving on), so the only thing left that he couldn't control perfectly was other people. Thus, the Geass of absolute control and domination, which now allowed him to completely impose his will on the natural world and that of humanity, and to reshape this world to his heart's content by controlling and dominating all of it But on the other hand, the thing that truly scarred him personally, beyond anything that happened to his mother and sister, was his existence and value as a person being denied repeatedly throughout his childhood. By his father, his siblings, his country, and even by his best friend in the season 1 finale. What he truly yearns for isn't love or control, it's acknowledgement and acceptance. For other people to look at his true self and say "you are enough, you are valid, you are worthy, you don't have to change or hide who you really are in order to fit in" P.S.: when you have all the context for it, his "don't deny me" speech from the Fukkatsu movie is moving, cathartic, and just a brilliant conclusion to his journey of healing and self-affirmation

To clarify, Charles already took V.V.'s code in the previous episode, Turn 14. This is important because it contradicts a misunderstanding some people have, namely that you need to die to activate the code. There is no such thing as "activating codes". This was even explained by the writers who used this episode to illustrate that. They said that Charles was never affected by lelouch's geass but pretended to be geassed just to mess with Lelouch. They also said Charles was already immortal so he didn't die when he shot himself. That fully clarifies the misunderstanding of some people. When you get the code: 1) you instantly lose your geass 2) you instantly become immortal 3) you instantly become immune to geass. there's no delay or extra conditions such as dying.
@rocksauron73829 ай бұрын

@PhantomNull138 ай бұрын
@nahte123456 actually it is stated by the creators that Charles was pretending. One of the producers even noted he believed Charles would've been struggling to not laugh at Lelouch thinking he won. This was stated at one of the live events during the recap movies' run in Japan, and was noted by multiple sources present, and translated afterwards. Charles was never Geassed, he just humored Lelouch by shooting himself since he knew he would be fine.

No Spoilers Here: When Schneizel says, "Damocles is here at last," he is referring to the myth Sword of Damocles. The myth goes that Damocles was a courtier to Dionysus, who once told Dionysus that he was a man of great fortune and power. Dionysus, in response, offered for them to switch places, offering Damocles a taste of that life of fortune and power. Damocles understandably accepted, but there was a catch. Above the throne, a sword would be hanging by a single hair from a horsetail. The sword symbolizes the angst and worries of such a position. Whilst outsiders would look at Dionysus's life as one of luxury to the man who's actually sitting on the throne, it's a life of constant anxiety. Fear that one day he would be overthrown or assassinated by his enemies. Just like how that thread of hair could break at any time and the sword would fall on Damocles' head.

Sort of, so from what I understand because this is an alternative timeline world (britannia being basically all of the americas is a good example of this) certain techs were produced but others were missed because the impetus that lead to them never solidified. (For example albert einstein wouldn't have fled germany for america in the run up to ww2, because in this world america was not a 'welcoming of immigrants' kinda place) Also as far as I'm aware they never mention in the series anything about the use of nuclear weapons or nuclear power, it is always about sakuradite. And the stuff nina was researching in the previous season was about enriched uranium, leading me to think that this is probably a fission bomb given how the blast style is different, but a lot of the base substances/set up is similar.

So what was CC's true wish? She longs for love in its purest and unconditional form, in the platonic sense, because deep down she wanted to be loved and recognized as human and that is the cornerstone on which the relationship between Lelouch and CC is built. CC's past shows us that she was dehumanized at an early age: by her status as a slave that defined her as an inferior being before her masters, by the people with whom she used her Geass who reduced her to an object of desire, by the nun who used her as a tool for her own interests and for the code that turned her into the Immortal Witch we know. This human degradation in combination with deep emotional deficiencies from childhood and the traumatic experiences we saw led to the development of low self-esteem and the appearance of suicidal tendencies. CC's death wish is a manifestation of CC not loving herself. It isn't so simple to see it since CC's arc has a philosophical approach and in that sense it differs from Rolo's arc, which also starts from the theme of "love" and the idea that "love humanizes you", but the message It reaches us more directly because it doesn't have a sieve. CC justifies her suicidal plan by appealing to passive nihilism. Life is absurd and has no meaning because there is no love, there is pain and if life has no end it means that the pain is eternal. Faced with this terrible conclusion, CC thinks it is better to take her own life. But death doesn't represent a solution. In reality, just as it is for Suzaku, death is an escape from suffering for CC, because, as Martin's character said in the anime Monster, "no one really wants to die." This is one reason why CC refused to give her code to Charles at the last minute and she didn't force Mao and Lelouch to take her code, preferring to abandon them. The other reason is that CC isn't petty enough to condemn them against their will to a inmortal life because she felt affection for them and they wouldn't take the code either, knowing that CC wants to die. The problem is that CC doesn't know what she wants and she has no idea what love is. She had no parents or friends. She only knew conceptually what love is, but Geass offered her a distorted view of her desire and, as she herself said, she forgot what it is. Furthermore, CC was so immersed in her own suffering that she couldn't realize that she already had what she always wanted. However, Lelouch becomes the first person to treat CC as a human and saves her from her self-destruction by accepting and recognizing her as his equal. This is (agape in greek terms) love and it is what gives CC back the will to live and to find love and acceptance for herself. This episode is a sample that Lelouch is truly a good person: even though he found out that CC used him and was dishonest with him, Lelouch shows her compassion and goodness because he wants his loved ones to be happy. That is why he asks her to die with a smile, which, in turn, is a tight synthesis of Agathonism, which is the philosophy that refutes passive nihilism and whose maximum postulate is "enjoy life and help live a pleasant life." In this way the contract between Lelouch and CC's partners becomes a promise between two humans (words from the official Code Geass guide, not mine).

Very good breakdown! While I do feel there is romantic subtext in their relationship, what truly important is that they both choose to care for each other, even though their relationship could have stayed purely transactional. It's important to understand that Geass and the code are based on will. Everything in Code Geass is about will. That is the main theme of the series. Therefore, Charles didn't really steal the code from his brother. It's quite possible that Charles lied to VV into believing that he was in danger so that VV, who would do anything for his brother, would give it to him; so when Charles shot himself, he wasn't under the effects of Geass, he was playing a prank on his son and this was confirmed by Goro Taniguchi (one of the creators of Code Geass) in one of the DVD materials. That's why we have a long shot of the emperor and not a close-up of his face (to make it difficult for viewers to notice that there are no red rings around Charles's eyes and thus surprise us with Lelouch at the revelation that Charles has a code). And by having a code, the user loses their Geass. Also the nun had to torture CC to get her to accept the code, so CC took it under duress and that's how CC got that scar under her left breast. By the way, CC didn't ask Lelouch to literally kill her, but rather to take her code to restore her mortality. She usually speaks metaphorically. Likewise, VV bled to death from his wounds in the battle. I'm a little worried about watching this episode as several events happen at once, we're given too much information, and viewers misunderstand or lose sight of important things. I hope Kenny and Montana didn't miss watching. Finally, I would like to leave a couple of fun facts from this episode: 1. If it seemed to you that CC was going to kiss Charles when they get into that dance position, your assumption is not wrong. That was the original plan. 2. CC's memories were going to have a more erotic character to the point of showing us orgiastic and suggestive representations in order to show us how powerful CC's Geass of love was. Both ideas were canceled for the same reason: the creators were afraid of an aggressive reaction from CC fans.
@СарраКарагозян9 ай бұрын
I do think it's also not completely impossible Charles' will was stronger in the moment than V.V.'s, if only because he carried his anger at him for breaking their promise for several years, so V.V. kind of gave up when confronted by his little brother's resentment. Emperor playing a prank on Lelouch is kind of funny - it's no wonder all his children are just as dramatic!

You guys were one of the few reactors who noticed that VV was in love with Marian,really appreciate the way you guys always get immerse to watch and analyzing the details。here's another detail that easily gets neglected is the president of the student council ,she is also one of girl who have crush on Lelouch。 Her full name is Milly Ashford which is the granddaughter of holder the Asford Academy。 in the EP7 when little Lelouch questioning the emperor ,from the whispering of the ministers on the side tells that the Asford family was the behind power of Marian,the family falls as her death so they went a colony (Area 11 )doing school business。Milly in the position as a female of the right age of lelouch ,very likely to be the future imperial concubine if Marian was not dead the Ashford have been protectingLelouch and Nanali for 8 years at the beginning of the story ,they secretly hide lelouch and Nunnally when japan was invaded,but as a nominally dead prince, there is no political value so that the Asford family only offer some life helping and asylum but no more。 the Asford family is trying to revitalize again by Milly‘s marriage。she likes lelouch but she knows that she have to follow the decision of the family,whatz why shes supportive to Shirley but occasionally shows some personal feeling to lelouch while they alone and being reluctant to marry someone。The campus hat attack thing was her last try,she mean it ,and she knew its impossible 。 These plots are actually quite clearly showed in the story, but it was fragmentally described in different clips which needs to be associated by the viewer 。The interesting point of this character'line is that lots of magnificent things such as revolution ,coup d 'etat ,hegemony going on in the show yet the non-main character they are individuals with their own feelings and concerns 。Another example is Rival obviously like Milly,yet from some photo scene in season 2 shows that he kinda aware of Milly‘s feeling for Lelouch but pretend not knowing it all the time till the hat event PS. Marianu's KM are also kept in the Ashford family after she dead ,which is what Lloyd are targeting and the reason he‘s ok to marry Milly

Yeah, a lot happens in this episode. We are coming to the climax of Nina's subplot. Oh, you didn't know there was a Nina subplot? Would you be surprised to learn that it's actually one of the longest running subplots? Well, it is. It started when Nina gasped "I divided it!" Lloyd has even contributed to it! Anyway, the most interesting things in this episode revolve around C2. We learn what her contract with Lelouch was about. We also learn her past. We even learn what her Geass power was, which you may have suspected she had. And what a power it is. It really is a crazy episode, though. You almost have to watch it twice to catch everything.

interesting that there always seems to be a "dependent" kind of relationship between geass giver and geass given (CC and her geass giver, Mao and CC, Lelouch and CC, Charles and VV) and one can only evolve when they starrt to stand on their own two feet and move past the geass giver (like Charles did to VV and like CC did to her)
@neoshenlong9 ай бұрын
THE FOLLOWING COMMENT CONTAINS STUFF THAT *COULD* BE INTERPRETED AS AN SPOILER FOR THE FOLLOWING EPISODES, THOUGH I DON'T MENTION ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS THERE. So, my personal interpretation of C's world is it's the same thing as the collective unconscious in Persona 5. A world made up from all the wills of humanity, that's why "i am you, and you are me", an only being: humanity itself. The real god is humanity itself, it's collective will. By killing it, Charles wants to rid the world of humanity's biggest imperfection: their own free will. Without it, peace will happen. But without it, ironically, we lose our own individuality. Our free will is what makes each of us unique, and yet the same. C2 wants to abandon her individuality by dying, completely. In a way, she wants to return to the nothing of the collective will. But Lelouch wouldn't allow it, he appreciates her as an individual, not as a tool for power or anything like that, which is a clue as to what his view towards this theme really is. Here's where all Code Geass themes begin to tie in nicely. The geass is an eraser of free will, just like Suzaku mentioned this episode. Lelouch has been doing the very same thing the Emperor wishes to do: erasing humanity's free will to impose his own view of what a world should be. We learn in this episode C2's geass was a manifestation of her wish for love. Does Lelouch wished to impose his will upon others? Knowing this... what will Lelouch do in the end? There's a final element to this free will thing that just appeared for the first time: Damocles. What happens to humanity's free will when full destruction is available at a moments notice? Well, we live in such a world, you tell me.

I needed to read the analysis and comments from other fans to have a better understanding of Charles' plan, but it was worth it because I was finally able to discover what the main theme of the series was and its connection to Lelouch's narrative arc, as well as further appreciate the beauty of the ZR and Lelouch's journey.

Lelouch got ordering power cuz it's his true nature (royal family, chess player, strategist), Charles got memory rewritng cuz he wanted to rewrite the truth, CC was slave that's why she wanted being loved and adored, Mao probably wanted to know others' real thoughts, Rolo - here you can't bind with strong motives. Take it slow with the rest of the episodes 😂 It's not known for being an easy to understand ending

"Don't die with that kind of face! At least smile as you die! I'll make you smile, damn it!" -subtitles "Don't die looking like that! At least you should have come to death smiling! I'll promise you the smile you never had!" -dub This whole scene hits so hard, I rewatched it time and time again in all variations I could.

Ironic considering who died smiling. Atlest Lelouch follows what he preaches

When are they going to do their reaction to the avatar the last Airbender Netflix show

soon!! We will be watching episodes this coming week!

The entire ending of this series is gonna go right over their heads, isn't it... Edit: you know what, if they DO understand at least _most_ of Episode 21, then I will be the first to add an apology on this VERY comment thread. I don't WANT them to _not_ get Episode 21, I would be VERY happy if for _once_ , someone on KZbin "gets it", instead of just having yet _another_ video of clueless reactors sitting there going "oh wow whats happening im so confused lmao"... we have enough of those already, and these guys _could_ be the exception... but Im not holding my breath

They're smart, I'm sure they'll be fine.
@frenchynoob9 ай бұрын
@@mimic1984 i haven't seen a single other reaction channel get it, and they don't seem any smarter than most. I just wish more reactors would actually _try_ to pay attention to the Cs World resolution arc, instead of just shrugging their shoulders and saying "eh, that sure was a bunch of nonsense , eh?"
@LettsReact9 ай бұрын
we are paying as much attention as possible haha I like to think we will understand what happens! If not, totally open to have things explained, sometimes its hard to be EXACTLY right in the moment of watching it, I'm sure a lot of viewers looked up clarifications for things after they watched, sometimes we have to do the same haha

@@LettsReact I will say I have more hope for your understanding of the "Real World" ending as compared to the "C's World" ending. Because most people struggle with the latter.
@louishermann76769 ай бұрын
@@LettsReactno worries bud. The writing does get a little wonky toward the end. There's a structure to it, it's just hard to pick up on the first watch.
