What a game changer. How many times western hunting have you planned a stalk and when you got to where you thought the animal was you can’t find it because everything looks the same. Or you hiked to the wrong bush or tree you planned to get to. Real question is how long until it’s banned? We can’t even use trail cams here because AZ g&f says it’s an unfair advantage.

Leupold was not the first to develop a system like this, but at the price point, they will certainly put it in the hands of nearly anybody who wants it! We like that. As for advantages and legality, it's tough to say whether this is a massive advantage when it comes to hunting. If you're using it to get close to an animal, that means you've already found it. It will be interesting to see how much further technology like this progresses before changes are deemed necessary. Thanks for the thoughtful response!

What about different wind holds that I will need at various ranges in MOA’s whether it be 10, 15, 20, 25 or even up to 30 mph crosswinds? How will I know how many MOA’s to hold at variable distances with those variable wind scenarios? What if the wind isn’t at a perfect 90° crosswind, can I also compensate for that with the Leupold range finder??

Will the RX-5000 drop a pin on Onx map when out of cell service and using down loaded maps ?

Great question. I believe it will but I will have to verify that myself. I'll let you know.

I reached out to our friends at Leupold and confirmed that no internet connection is needed for the pinning feature to work. You can apply your pins using downloaded maps. It's also worth noting that in their testing of the pinning accuracy, their dats consistently got them within 25 yards of a pin placed at 1,000 yards. There could have been several factors effecting my pin accuracy - metal interfering with the laser, the cactus not being the most reflective, etc.
