Nice review. I would love for them to offer an optional front passenger seat. It would make it a great car to haul 8 people on short distances.

Agreed. Although most passengers like the ability to have an enclosed private space.

Most EVs have above 250 miles range now. To be honest I’m shocked they didn’t go fully electric in this new 2024 version. Such a shame.

A fully electric black cab would be useless, that’s why. A taxi driver isn’t going to want to sit around at a public charger after a day driving around London, and how many of them have the luxury of living in a property where they can home charge? Not many is my guess.

@@mikeolly67 these cabs are limited to 22kw chargers, a fully electric car can take 150kw, so they’d take more charge in the same amount of time.

@@birchy8624 Not true. It can do DC at 50kW as well. Doesn't take that long to recharge because the battery isn't huge.

@@mikeolly67 Works fine for Uber drivers. Loads of them are going all-electric in London and loving it.

@@WhichEV I love that this transition is happening, I just find it such a shame to not scrap the engine and just focus on an all electric cab with over 250 miles. We needed hybrids when EVs only had an 80 mile range but now there is no excuse. It just ends up being more a pain for the driver since they have to charge more frequently.

@@richard9444 If you say so. Depends where you charge though. Some of the London public chargers are extortionate. Overnight home charging will be a different story though.

@@WhichEV not enough miles on full EV , London doesn't have enough chargers most cab drivers live in the suburbs,ok to charge at home but time you get in to central and do a few jobs it's run out

@@richard9444 Fair comment - I've heard that mentioned before. But I've also seen these charging on the street in London. Do you reckon that with more / cheaper street chargers in London it would be better?
