I did this 6 years ago - got forced out of retail, and found a free course through the unemployment office for 9 months worth of training to get my Network+ and CCNA certifications. Got a referral through my CCNA instructor to get into my first serious IT job, and I'm still here, 5 years later, making over 2x what I ever made in retail, with way better benefits to boot. Love the job, and now have a pension to look forward to as well.

In doing IT but trying to learn how to level up. Should I start with A+ or security+?
@bryansproles28797 ай бұрын
@@Dutty_Boy Depends on your skill level. A+ is learning the basics of hardware and software troubleshooting and repair. Next level would be Network+ which takes a bit from A+ and adds networking. In the same way, Security+ takes some from networking and adds the security layer to it. As my instructor once said: "How can you secure a network if you don't understand how it works?" I'd start with A+ and go through that way. Also, once you get all 3, you only need to take the Sec+ again to keep all three renewed (as long as none of them are expired yet.)

@@bryansproles2879 got it. I'll get started on that. Only way I see to go forward beside spending thousands on college.

I’m a retired Texas English-Spanish Licensed Court Interpreter who now teaches at universities in Taiwan 🇹🇼 and online. I maintain my LCI license via mandatory Continuing Education courses that I take online. I select courses that help me develop and sell myself as a Spanish teacher and Spanish-to-English translator. On the teaching side, my personal CE includes attending and presenting at a yearly professional convention for English as a Foreign Language teachers.

One career tip: if you do get a certification and let your manager know, but then a month or so later they mention they grooming one of your co-workers to do the job that requires that certification, it's time to bail from that company. I got a Certificate of Business Analysis and a few months later, they mentioned they were grooming my outgoing co-worker with a graphic design degree to be a business analyst.

I took over what nobody in the small company (under 50 employees) wanted to. Safety. The company I'm in provides service to steel mills, factories etc. It's becoming a requirement to go over and above OSHA standards. So I utilized our BWC and Insurance company to start learning how to manage safety. I'm hoping it will result in a big raise this year.

One thing I've found super effective is diversifying streams of income, especially in this challenging economic environment. Just like a sturdy table stands on multiple legs, finance also gets better when we have multiple income sources. Whether it's a side hustle, investments, or passive income streams, spreading out our earnings can provide a safety net and open up new avenues for growth. Thanks for the video:)

I suggest contacting local business support groups, networking events, (check your local library, eventbrite/similar services, Facebook/social media) or if you have a specific niche- go to events directly/make your presence known to people in that field (LinkedIn, write letters companies that have that job and ask questions, go to events and introduce yourself--) build your relationships before asking!

I’ve been watching many financial videos & I’ve yet to come across the recommendation to level up by living an expatriate life. We packed up & left our comfortable life in Asia for the Middle East over 10yrs ago, it has been the best decision! A financial decision that enabled a good balanced lifestyle, the extra funds towards investing on our retirement nest egg & the responsibility as parents to provide the best education for our children. In Asia we don’t have student loans from the government, it’s Father Mother bank all the way. When they say it cost a million dollars to raise a child, it truly is if not more. Especially if the kids are high achievers studying tertiary for 6yrs or more. I’ll like to hear & see more KZbinrs taking the road less traveled, sharing their experiences & wisdom they’ve gathered along the way. The World is our oyster & there are so many ways to make money asides from our homeland.

@nancylara49017 ай бұрын
Don’t do it. It will ruin your credit, instead pay your credit cards starting from the smallest balances and when you pay off one, use the same money to apply it to the next one and so forth. Make a budget and try to stick to it and check where you can save money. For example, canceling subscriptions you don’t need, etc. That’s just my two cents. 😊
