Funny but I'm not playing games. A MAN CATS system is around 3400 euros(I have this because I opperate MAN units), a Delphy RED is around 400 euros( it is compatible with most trucks, some are more restricitve some work better with this unit, we haven't needed anything more than this to fix costumer units so far) and a wabco diagnosis goes for around 1200 euros( used for trailers). The service part of this business sometimes makes more money and it is less stressful than the transport part. If you are familliar with these systems, you know some basic electrionic and are familiar with CAN system you can have a nice salary on your hand. My trucks are also capable of over the air diagnosis but that implies a subscribiton and I'm a cheapskate. Also the prices of trucks in Europe aren't that high, I bought my units second hand for around 25k per unit and I didn't buy them all at once, they're expensive to mentain because unlike USA, we have to test our units yearly and they also get checked ocasionally on the road. I started this because I got fed up with corporate BS after working at Celestica for some years.

The argument that the military aid was just sitting around so it's not really like we spent that money ignores a key fact: the US military is required by law to maintain predetermined levels of inventory from ammunition to vehicles, etc. So those APCs that were just sitting around and aged out draw down the inventory level and then the military is required to replace them. The replacements cost money.
@FrenziedManbeast3 ай бұрын
There's some truth to this, but also: equipment ages out of being able to qualify for readiness. We produce far more than we use as part of national defense. NATO members benefit enormously from this model, as do Defense contractors.

A little correction on "giving money for war". We don't give money to countries to fight their wars; (ok yes, but not a lot) we give money to defense contractors and weapons manufacturers who then send products and services to countries that are fighting wars. So when a bill passes that says we're giving "x" amount of money in aid, we're really giving 90% of it to companies like Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
@Mayadanava3 ай бұрын
It used to be called lethal aid, we give tax payers money to weapons manufacturers and they supply the weapons. Usually we then bill the country and use the debt to get better access to the resources of said nation. It's welfare for the weapons industry. And then the banks and mining industry.

My understanding is that FEMA is spending budget allocated to other things for the hurricane relief, and the Speaker has declined to recall congress to vote on fixing the budget. This is a result of the continuing funding, rather than passing a budget. Both of these are rumored to be decisions made by Trump in an attempt to influence the election.

Sometimes it's only off by like 5 mph, but there's a specific stretch of country road that I drive down to and from work where my car says the speed limit is 25, but it's actually 55. Like imagine how shitty that would be if every time you're driving to and from work, you car is just beeping at you or literally forcing you to slow down because the car's speed limit data is wrong.

Kristen: ...AI videos of, I think it was Harris, but like using a voice that sounds like her. And so, it's like... Ryan: Parody. Um. No? Parody is, by definition, "A feeble or ridiculous imitation". If a parody can be mistaken by a normal person as genuine, it is NOT a parody. Parody: A video with someone dressed up as a political figure, in the style of a local-access commercial for Pete's Pig Sh1+. The all organic fertilizer. NOT Parody: An AI generated video of a political figure that appears to be them, with an AI generated voice that appears to be them, making any statement that the political figure did not say. (Or anyone really. Political figures are just low hanging fruit because our only interaction with them is their public facing statements, which is WHY this particular form of manipulation literally stops the democratic process.) Another example: A music video comes on. The opening notes to Michael Jackson's I'm Bad begin. But then Weird Al shows up in a fat-suit styled like Michael's character from the original video. Then Al starts singing, and the lyrics are different. THAT is parody, because the imitation only lasts JUST long enough to show you what the video is referencing, then IMMEDIATLY shows you it is NOT the original work.

Also FEMA isn't out if money yet, they're saying they will be out of money before this next hurricane hits Florida (which i think is happening right now or sometime tomorrow). Fema has always been underfunded and it's not always due to incompetency, DJT siphoned tens of millions from FEMA in 2019 right before hurricane season in order to fund a useless border wall (most illegal immigrants overstay a legal visa or came seeking asylum, not walking across the border with a coyote or whatever bs faux news has told you).
