no the patch put the letters on the little symbols above the the actual mini. Plus, you can see another chopper deploy Flares then ECM so this is definitely pre-patch footage

i had a great chopper run on my ps3 yesterday, i was playing rush on kharg island on a normel server and me and this random team mate were just tearing the enemy team appart. I love the chopper post patch.

This vid was recorded before the patch was released, so yeah. The way to fix the whole balance of Attack Helos wasn't to take flares away from the gunner, it was to increase the cooldown time of the countermeasures so you couldn't pop them every 2 seconds. What the choppers have become now is just flying pieces of paper.

I feel for you lvl, this double vision series using helicopters is only going to get harder with no gunner counter-measures and the fact that all infantry rocket launchers have an extended lock on range. I have been playing AK on PS3 and I only have to deal with 12 enemies. I cannot imagine how difficult this may prove to be on PC with 32 enemies. Best of luck.

It stops the lock on before the missile is fired. And Air Radar, Flares/ECM, and Heat Seekers as pilot and I use Autoloader, Thermal, and TV as gunner.

in actuality... below radar doesn't hide your infrared signature, which is what iglas and stingers lock on to, so dice got that one right, removing flares from the gunner was a bad idea... but being able to lock onto helis that fly low is true, because helis have a huge heat signature

It has to do with the angle the missile comes in at I think. My best results are aiming above and in front of the chopper when it is flying towards me. Since the flares drop below and behind, they still pull the missile right into the heli. I think this might also work against ECM.

The low to ground thing just makes it look fast. Maximum speed without losing altitude can be attained at 10º forward. Any more forward tilt you will descend.

I would like to see post-past chopper-ing. Gunner flares did work before. If a missile is fired at you and then you pop flares, the missile will still go straight like a rocket. So if the missile was pointed straight at you when you popped flares, it will still hit you unless you're moving side-to-side. You can still fly choppers post-patch but the kills are harder to come by when kids are constantly spamming stingers/iglas. I hope they fix ecm on jets.

I think it's good that they removed the flares for the gunner. Now stinger and igal are useful again and you have to fly more conservatively with the chopper.

I'm assuming you meant chopper not jet? I play on PS3 as well and the trick with the attack choppers is to find a good balance between forward momentum and upward thrust. If you make a steep dive your increasing your forward momentum, when you get close to the ground you have to balance out the effect of gravity by keeping you nose at a slight tilt and hitting the throttle. If done correctly the chopper will maintain the momentum and fly very fast. Imagine following through on a golf swing.

You have enough time with ECM to find a rock or building to hide behind, so you can avoid stingers. If you're below radar, stuff without laser guidance still won't be able to lock on. You just have to be more aware of soldiers and you can't hover. Plus now the gunner can use IR/NV or zoom optics, making ground targets easier to hit. It's scarier and you will die more often, but it's still possible to have killer runs in the attack chopper.

I firmly believe that Level is mostly responsible for the recent patch nerfing the Heli. Developers saw his videos and came to the conclusion that he was basically invisible.

Hey LVL, was wondering if you could give a two view tutorial on flying choppers and jets. I was a pretty good pilot on 360, but cant seem to get the hang of PC. Maybe a view of your keys and mouse, and then of your actual game, so i can relate better to what your binds are and how it works on the vehicles. Thanks :)

Its ironic how theres an assignment called "Get to the Choppa" now which probably refers to Lvlcap and Matimi0's series yet they completely nerfed the attack chopper and have yet to create a privacy setting on Battelog resulting with Lvlcap and Matimi0 retiring the series.

The lag is there to balance it and is on PC and Console. I don't have the inverted controls, but that might be a setting that I changed at some point, I can't remember. You will have to ask a console gamer to know if that change is available for you.

How can you not use Thermal vision or zoom optics Matimio??? Or does thermal make things too easy and you might get too many kills...? I heard you say you were having trouble locating enemies lvlcap was firing at a few times, so thermal would sort that right out. Or is this a while back before gunner flares were patched?

the flare deploy sound is different to that of when it is actually released meaning when you do here it you would have released it as soon as you pressed the button, the best time to deploy flares is to time the distance for the enemies missile to hit you and deploy it as late as possible while keeping it away 200 m otherwise flares are useless trust me i know this from experience that way you can avoid the second enemy missile as the flares loses lock on for missiles as long as it is in air

Good comment. In addition, Dice have made the game a better reflection of reality by removing the ability to fire the canister round straight after the normal HE round, because in real life, you need to load another round so this two round burst (effectively what you could achieve) is impossible. It was a neat trick while it lasted :)

Okay on PC does the tv missile have the weird lag or the inverted stick controls? im trying to get good with it but its weird switching from the normal gun to the inverted lag of the tv missile... just seeing if its less difficult on PC than 360 or if im just failing.

It only makes sense to me that 2 guys in a chopper working together with voip should be hard to shoot down for some guy hiding in the bush with a no-skill-to-aim-stinger. Before the latest patch, i shot down lots of choppers that were running ECM/Flare combo by myself with IGLAs. All i had to do was lock to trigger ECM but don't fire, wait for ECM to fade for a lock and fire to trigger flares and the next IGLA would be a hit 9 times out of 10.
