I have definitely made a habit of oversharing. I used to think being an open book was empowering because it meant you didn’t care about what others thought of you but I realized I was doing it as a form of validation. I have sense decided I’ll keep more things to myself. I want to kill any validation seeking behavior I have. Thank you for this!

Why: 1. Private life is a happy life, it's safer 2. Not everyone is your friend 3. You get less opinions about your life choices 4. Having better relationships 5. Future career oppertunities 6. Recovering from setbacks easier in peace because nobody knows to ask you about 7. It's better for your love life How to do it: Set boundaries Think before sharing Keep your inner circle small

It’s so true that privacy is power. I only have Facebook to keep in touch with my families and friends that I met through the military when we were active duty. My FB don’t even have my real name, profile photos of myself, husband, or kids, or the places I’ve worked. I’m a new employee at my kids’ school and I’m interesting and mysterious to them. They don’t know anything about me except for the things I’ve told them which is very limited. I know they’ve looked for me on FB but can’t find me 🤣 and it is so satisfying that nobody knows my personal life.

this is why i stick with a niche with my social media. unless you know me personally, you wouldn't know where i work, what i do, went to school, family, boyfriend, even my last name. It's the same with relationships. I never post photos of my love life because when it's over, it's easier for me to recover than all people know. Every time you meet a friend, they always ask about it, and that's even more heartbreaking and slowing the process of moving on.

This is such an important subject, Urania! In the era of social media, privacy and discretion seem to be an afterthought at best. When the subject of personal privacy comes up, I’m often reminded of a quote from Banksy - “I don't know why people are so keen to put the details of their private life in public; they forget that invisibility is a superpower.” This has always resonated with me. No one knows my past job history and what I did in college. I recently deactivated my Facebook and Instagram and taking a breather because I was overwhelmed with the amount of information I was seeing a day from people. Very valuable video it's important to keep your personal and professional life away from social media you should never post your tragedy, sorrow and pain coz there are many people who enjoy gossiping about it and there is a very high chance that whatever you post on social media is also known to those people who are not in your friend list as the world is full of gossipers and back biters. As it's the era of technology many people are connected to each other through mobile phones, WhatsApp and messaging so these modes communication have made it very easy for people to spread toxic gossips and other secret information. This is the darkest side social media that I have ever seen.

Thanks for this video Urania. It's so inspiring. I've learnt this lesson a bit late as I struggled with keeping things private on my former Instagram account and WhatsApp. I shared too much unknowingly as I enjoyed getting attention from the amount of views. I came to notice the distance in so called friendships, how people haven't reached out to me for a long time. I saw that i was the only one making an effort to message them, meanwhile they had all the access to view my regular stories. I realised i needed to set boundaries. So I put a stop to posting stories and also who has access to see them. I've felt nothing but peace since

There is something within me,that is strong enough To keep me from toppling over the edge of sanity, over the ledge of frustration or over the hedge of all out_foolishness It leads me to prayer, when I would otherwise break There is something in my make_up or my upbringing , or just the way I look up That straightens my back, and bows my head It becomes the focus in my meditation, the sentiment in my supplication The reason for my transformation, that thing inside me, has come choosing light though the darkness covers all It Wells up like ocean waves, come to drown those who think they deserve to push me back Hold me down or steal my joy I have a spiritual strength that grows deeper and speaks louder as I get to know more about who I am Remind me daily that am a product of your hands, and all that you make ALL THAT YOU MAKE is perfect.......Amen
