I like the E.A.T method, explaining the 5 rights of delegation, and the difference between the UAP and LVN,LPN.

Thank you for these very helpful information. I bought your NCLEX package and it really me a lot to understand the concepts. For patient teaching, can LVN also delegate patient teaching? Or not at all? Or is it depends if the person works in hospital or facilities?
@LevelUpRN Жыл бұрын
Initial education is outside of the LVN's scope of practice (the LVN can _reinforce_ teaching but cannot do the initial education). You can't delegate anything outside of your scope, so the LVN would not be able to delegate patient teaching! --Meris :)

What if facility expects you to do something that is out of scope of practice in your state

I understand you shouldn't delegate something to a UAP when something is emergent, such as the EKG for pt with 10/10 crushing chest pain, but why? They can do it any other time, so what makes it different now when the RN can be doing something that takes higher priority in the situation?

A patient like this would not be stable, and delegating tasks for an unstable patient would not be advised.

You don't delegate care of unstable pt

Are UAP allowed to do enemas ? Some content says yes and some says no . Doing questions on a question bank, It said yes . I got it wrong for not picking it.
@LevelUpRN Жыл бұрын
Oh wow, this is a great question. As far as I'm aware, an enema would not be able to be performed by a UAP, however there is some variation when it comes to state laws and scope of practice, so it would be important to look up that particular information for your state. But no, I don't believe enemas are within the UAP's scope of practice! --Meris

Is it ok to do postpartum care to UAP
@LevelUpRN Жыл бұрын
It depends on what kind of postpartum care you're talking about. Routine vitals, helping a patient to the bathroom, bathing, etc. are all okay to delegate to UAP. Assessment of the fundus, lochia, birthing patient, baby, etc. must be done by the RN. --Meris :)
