It always seemed pretty obvious to me that she was dealing with a lot of damage. It’s a shame that she lashes out at people in a way that is perpetuating the cycle of abuse, but it takes a ton of insight and bravery to recognize that behavior in yourself and actively try to change it. It also usually takes therapy. I don’t know if she’s ever sought help, but I’m sure it would do her a world of good. Her musical talent is just too great to let her own demons continue to sabotage her career.

Sadly trauma isn’t an free pass or excuse to do what she has done. So yeh. She is an artist who fucked herself over and people are very much valid to feel hurt by her when she hurts millions of people with her words. No one does it like she does. She is a bop powerhouse. Also, she can sing in Spanish too! She brings such pastiche and, to a degree, camp, in her music. And since many of the people she argued with have ended up showing their asses the past year, I realized that much of the time, she was right all along. You didn’t really touch on recent key events. And I just want to say that Azealia has never truly been afforded the luxury of madness like a lot of the white folk in the industry and especially her male counterparts. She is highly misunderstood and I hope my girl gets her flowers real soon. She is one of the greatest artistic minds of our generation and her pen is unmatched. Black women deserve more.

I understand what you’re saying but a lot of the things that people bash her for are just really fucked up things for anyone to say. I am black and lgbt and I find is crazy when others, especially non black folks, try to use her blackness as a reason to give her sympathy for the things that she says. She deserves sympathy for her trauma DESPITE her words and actions and those as important distinctions. I don’t like the whole “she is misunderstood just because she is black’ like… yeah she will have a harder time unfortunately for being black in the industry and that aint right but it’s disingenuous to act as if the majority of reasons why she is misunderstood isnt because her mental illness and trauma are mixed up with comments of racism, colorism, anti lgbt narratives etc because it is the reality

People who are capable of creating their art IN SPITE of mental health issues and extensive trauma, are on a whole other level than the rest. The only remember of him is him being in a coffin and I got to put a white teddy bear that was holding a red rose and I also still remember what the bear fully looked like to this very day. My mom raised my little sister and I on her own but our grandparents babysit us until we got in school but we still ended up at our grandparents after school because our mom did not get off until 5:30pm. I wish I could remember something about him but I got nothing and the only memories I do got is what my mom and others tells me. My dad and my mom did not get along well with his people but we still had a small hand full that we like it.
