I had flat feet from too many miles on concrete with boots. I got the standard sole Birkenstock Sandals. They killed my feet, they hurt, I beat them with a hammer. For two months they killed my feet, but I wore them. One day they didn't hurt. in fact my feet grew to love them. Now because of Birkenstock Sandals I can walk all day on cement with no fatigue. My feet even feel better in my work boots, I am no longer a flat foot. Now you can have my Birkenstocks when you pry them off my cold dead feet.

Five years ago, after 35 years of professional women's shoes was just about to have a bunion removed, meaning surgery, because of pain when I re-discovered my own Birks, began wearing them solely (forgive the pun) and reversed the problem completely so there is no pain AT ALL! I own 15 pair of Birks and thank the company for making nicer looking women's Birkenstocks. I always tell people 'your feet are your foundation, keep them healthy.'.

Birkenstocks are german and to me as a german Birkenstocks are not shoes. I think it looks ridiculous to were them on the streets ^^. Don't get me wrong, I love them and have had and worn them all my life. But here we use them inside the house or kids inside of school. They change their shoes when entering the school building. We call them "house shoes" because we specifically were them inside. outside we were actual street shoes or sandals with a heel strap that don't come off. so it is funny to see how people from different cultures use the same products in completely different ways.

Americans are lazy and are obsessed with always being comfortable. Because they're comfortable they'll want to wear them everywhere and all the time. Sometimes people wear pajamas around during the day, beucause its comfy. When it's cold out, they'll wear socks with those scandals. Honestly, these are mainly for hippies and white people in the states. What we call "house shoes" are slippers or slide, which people also like to wear outside of the house.

Make sure you try them on and walk around the store like DSW (where I used to work) for a few good minutes. I wanted a pair, but each time I tried them on THEY HURT LIKE HELL. I especially hated the heal area where if you happen to slip out in the back, the edge would dig into your heal. PAINFUL! I happen to have sensitive feet so you might be okay. Clearly a lot of people love them, so there's something to them but I never really had a chance or wanted to break them in. Plus, for $120 I'd rather wear sneakers.

Yup, my foot physiotherapist (yes, have one of those, I have a chronic inflamation of a tendon in my foot, so I see him often :P ) did a walking analysis and concluded my arch is too high, and I lean too much on the outside of my foot to compensate for that. So arch support is key. Less pain when I wear birckenstocks so this summer I almost exclusively wore my pair. My old ones had worn out after 15 years :P so I sadly had to let them go, and I'm not completely happy that the model I wore was gone now. :( I get blisters on the top of my foot from the straps on the three strap versions. I wanted either one strap, or the criss cross over the toes ones.

Yeah and 90s fashion is what is popular again. Like people are wearing platform sneakers like the spice girls. People are also wearing jelly shoes as well. So both statements can be true that they were popular in the early nineties and they're popular again now and they fell out of fashion but are back. Noone in my high school, in Colorado, would have worn a sandal that was so simple. I graduated in 2012 and I had trouble finding a simple sandal because they were all gold or silver and bedazzled.

Actual Quaker here! We mostly love comfy shoes, so Birks rate well. But some of us are Vegan, and many of us are quite frugal, so Tevas often fill our needs better. And I recently read an article in our publication Friends Journal reminding us that some gender non-traditional Quakers may be happiest in high heels, so don’t assume! Almost all Quakers do have a T shirt or a bumper sticker saying “Live Simply”, just like our host.

As a girl: I love Birkenstocks because along with footbed comfort, the width is customizable. In brands that sell "wides", they're like buying big bras in popular brands: they're all the ugliest colors and styles. It sucks. They're also stocked less or something, because they're always out of stock.. Birkenstocks can be personally customized, so they're convenient. Women's shoes are notoriously tiny/thin and cause bunions, only to make it so that we need even wider shoes or else suffer from major toe pain. Birkenstocks aren't good looking IMO but they're ok looking and they actually fit human feet as opposed to Barbie feet 😅

I bought my first pair on Birkenstocks this summer because I saw this video! I wore them exclusively to break them in quickly. I got welts on the tops of my feet where my ankle transitions into my foot, where the straps rest. But I didn’t care. I knew they would be worth it. And they were. I broke them in and wore them all summer. I love them. Whenever I wore other shoes, I hated how they felt cuz they didn’t feel as comfortable as my new Birkenstocks! Even my Allbirds didn’t feel as comfortable as my Birkenstocks! It’s cooling down here in Los Angeles, so I’m going to clean them thoroughly, repair the heel and store them for the winter, then break out my cold weather shoes. My Birkenstocks will hibernate, but they will be something to look forward to for the springtime. You’ve taught me to be mindful of my belongings, especially those belongings that protect and serve me well.

@ReneeStevens986 жыл бұрын
My tips: Buy the Arizona style, because your cobbler can easily add new holes to the wide straps as the leather stretches. Reseal the cork every few months. Use a stiff brush to clean & recondition the footbed. Be sure to have the base sole replaced before the cork is exposed from wear. And replace the footbed whenever it feels like that excellent support is missing... I do this every 3-4 years. These tips double or triple the life of my Birks!

Good content, however... looking at your VANS soles and the non even wear it seems that you should fix your posture to stand straight on your feet. You have a problem with your posture that may be exaggerated by wearing Birkenstocks because you moulded them to compensate for your bad posture so you are in a vicious circle. The only way for you to escape is to get rid of these and once you fixed your posture then buy yourself another pair of Birkenstock. Cheers.
@LeahandLevi6 жыл бұрын
Wow thanks for this weirdly specific comment. I hate to defend my Neanderthal ways but according to my cobbler this is a super common form of wear and tear on shoes. But you’re also right... I guess could improve my posture 😂
@semiclean6 жыл бұрын
Levi Hildebrand Hey ! Yep weirdly specific now that I read it ! When I was 20 I realised I was using my soles more on the outer side than inner side at the back of the sole, I had pretty bad posture in general, not standing straight and balanced. Since I fixed my posture and stopped dragging my feet my shoes last longer as I use the shoe sole evenly throughout its lifespan. Do you think that feeling comfortable inside these BIRKS is actually a good thing ?

Birks don't mold to feet that much. My feet naturally want to roll inward due a minor congenital bone malformation which leaves me with weak ankles than sprain easily. My orthopedist actually recommended Birks to me because they have a solid sole that molds enough to properly provide comfortable arch support, but is solid enough to keep the ankle aligned properly. She was right because when I started wearing pretty much exclusively, I stopped spraining my ankles. If you look at the wear on my birks compared to my runners, you can really see a difference in the sole wear pattern, and I've had my birks a lot longer than my runners.
@fatih96595 жыл бұрын
I don’t particularly like the look of them but my everyday sandals have taken a beating (they weren’t meant for even a quarter of the things I put them through) and I’m planning of fixing the sole myself and keeping them for more casual things, but that leaves me needing an everyday sandal that can handle being though stuff and can easily be repaired (my current ones can’t be taken anywhere so imma have to DIY it). Burkenstocks keep popping up as the best sandal for what I need and this video just does more to convince me to get a pair! Great video and thanks for the information and the push to get my own!
