Understandably you may not want to reveal what lake you live on, (in an effort to maintain privacy), but I too live in North Carolina. I'm very new to fishing, I've only been fishing 1 1/2 years. I am interested in finding more fishing spots. I've fished Falls Lake, Jordan Lake, Sheron Harris and Hyco Lakes. I bought a 16 ft Vhaul Tracker last year. Would love to converse over email, because you are a terrific source of learning. I've never loved a sport until fishing. Now I'm really hooked, (pun intended). I've had Stage Four Cancer twice in the last five years, so I trying to make up for lost time. I know this entry is too long, (sorry), but I'm truly grateful for all that you've taught me. Thank you

So a key point you only briefly highlighted on was the dual braking system on the KVD reel. When comparing the differences in the Lews lineup at the similar price point, the KVD is the only Lews reel with all aluminum construction, 20lbs of drag, and the dual braking system. Other Lews reels near the price point may have 1 of these features but not all off them. Recently I was out fishing with my Lews Mach Crush that I have had for the last 4 or 5 years and noticed a few cracks on the carbon frame in front of the line guide. I am not particularly rough of my fishing kit, I keep reels covers on my baitcasters when not use. But noticing this troubled me a bit. Considering that the Mach Crush is a $170 reel, I was a bit frustrated to see it breaking down. I have considered picking up a KVD LFS ever since KVD left Quantum but did not really have the need for a new reel. Last week I went ahead and grabbed one to replace the Mach Crush that has been my primary reel. I cant say enough positive about this reel. I do still have a Team KVD Quantum PT that was my primary reel for a long time and this LFS is near the same quality and feel with some noticeable upgrades. Anyway, I have rambled on far enough, pretty good comparison in this video!

This was made a while ago. But I just got mine and mine doesn’t make a noise at all. You just hear the slap of the line hitting the rod when you cast. It’s amazing 😌

My first baitcaster was a SpeedSpool LFS. It served me will. I then moved on to try all of the brands but settled with mostly Daiwa reels. I recently traded off a Shimano Scorpion/Zodias setup for a Custom Lite and Hypermag. Those are some insanely light and easy to cast reels.

Any idea what is missing from the MP reel that causes it to be lighter? It almost seems like the cheaper reel is made out of more premium materials, hence the increased weight? But that doesn't make sense, so I wonder if the more expensive option has lighter but more costly metals?

Interesting how you hold your reel. I feel I wouldn't have the same control holding it like that.
@OneCastFishing3 жыл бұрын
That was more to keep the reel in frame for the video. Typically I hold it more to the side and palm it.

I just bought one of these and came to see to make sure the brakes were suppose to be that loud when casted my other reel isn’t nearly as loud but it seems it’s suppose to be but I have a quick question why do you use a braid backing when braid also slips on the spool? Mono is the only line that doesn’t slip on the spool.

What's the difference in the KVD model vs the standard LFS model? Color? I might try this or I'll just shell out a bit more cash for a daiwa. Thanks hope to hear back

KVD model has brakes on the spool and I think it holds more line. Also it has a bait keeper. And it’s red instead of black

I have 12 pound braid on mine and I can’t cast a 1/16 very far. Should I be using flouro or mono? Braking all the way down. Any suggestions?

It don't sound to good when your casting it. I hope not all of them are like this. If so I will stick to my BB1 Lew's reels.

You have TWO SIGNATURE ITEMS. One from KVD and IKE. Contradiction! LoL!
