And if not for a Ferrari-esque blundered call, he should have won it in his rookie year. McLaren kept him out way too long on tires, they were worn to the canvas, he came in to pit on a wet pit entry and slid off into a gravel trap and got stuck. He had the finish in the bag he needed to seal the Rookie Championship

It is amazing that people have started hating consistency shown by a team and a driver, just because they need more "fun". The work put in by the drivers, yes both of them and the team - from Toto to the last person involved is just incredible. The sport definitely has a lot of issues, but Mercedes cannot be denied. Hamilton cannot be denied. Greatness is difficult to be accepted when its happening in the present. Waiting to see how 2021 is going to pan out. New regulations, Aston Martin's entry and McLaren's resurgence. Excited.

Stoffel Vandoorne has an even better GP2-statline, it did not get him too far in F1. It's not hate to point out that Hamilton has been extremely lucky with his cars in F1. Not many rookies have the strongest car of the field for their debut even if they were spectecular in previous categories. Hamilton had only one season not in a top 2 machinery (2009). Even Schumacher didn't have such luxury. All that said, Hamilton capitalized very well on his great opportunities.

Lewis is a real legend, yes he’s been dominant while at Mercedes, but not ever year has been a clean sweep. Ferrari was strong in 2017 and 2018 and if he slipped up he could have handed either one of those titles to them. The car certainly hasn’t done all the work for him, and when he eventually retires, people will look back at his whole career and realise that he truly was the spiritual successor to Schumacher.

It is always so interesting to read comments about Lewis Hamilton. If any other of the drivers during his time competing or even before had achieved what Lewis has, they would have long ago been acknowledged as the best ever. It's always he has always had the best car-like the car drives itself or that he's lucky. The best drivers eventually are in the best cars exactly because they are the best drivers and teams always want the best drivers. Most fans can't stomach the fact that a sport dominated over 95% of its existence and in which the same 95% of its former champions have all looked like each other mostly, is now being dominated by someone who looks nothing like them. And the man once hailed as a God in the sport, and who had set records no one ever expected would be broken is being surpassed by Lewis. Gods are only supposed to look like the ones we see in the stained glass windows in almost all churches and in almost every bible.

I am a Schumacher and Vettel fan, but what Hamilton has done is incredible: as a rookie finished Alonso's reigning time, he never recovered; squeezed a brave Rosberg to such level that enforced him to retirement; Vettel gave him a run for his money for most of the 2017 & 2018 seasons, but cracked under pressure (it's likely he will never recover); Bottas, just playing "cat and mouse" with him (Bottas' next stop: a mid-field team in 2022 and empty-handed); Button? never was a real challenge, the most he did was to overtaking Hamilton in Turkey 2010, but finished 2nd to HAM and when pushed him out in the atrocious 2011 Canada GP. My forecast is that Hamilton will achieve 9 WDC, over 110 race wins and the unanimous recognition as the GOAT. I feel fortunate to have witnessed all his achievements.
