What's up Audio Nerds?!?!
Today, I review the Lewitt LCT 440 Pure. This is a cardiod condenser microphone that I have been very excited to test out! This microphone is under $300 and sits at $269 for the mic, shock mount, windscreen, pop filter, and carrying bag. I take you through the overview, the specs, the testing, and the review of this microphone. Check out the audio for yourself and see if this mic could be the right choice for you! Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for another video involving this sexy looking microphone!
Only fitting that i release this review on the day i hit 269 subs!... since $269 is the price of the mic!
If you decide to buy this microphone, I would truly appreciate if you use my affiliate link (below). I do not have microphone sponsorships, I purchase all of them myself, so using my affiliate link will help me continue to grow my channel! Thank you!

Here’s a review of the LEWITT LCT 440 Pure! One note: I did say the noise floor of this mic was 7 db, but actually it is 7 dBa! Which is an important difference! Also, i messed up who requested this! It was actually Prateek Gupta not Dan L. I appreciate the request! You’re awesome! Hope you all enjoy!

Why not A+? Is the rode nt1 better? To me the lewitt seams slightly better
@AudioHotline
@AudioHotline 4 жыл бұрын
A big reason I like the NT1 more, is due to the flatter frequency response. Even though the NT1 has a tiny tiny boost in the high end, it doesn’t have several specific EQ boosts (notches) in the high end like the 440. Therefore I feel like it is a little more versatile with different peoples voices. However you could be absolutely right. The LEWITT may sound better immediately, but working with the RØDE NT1 in post I find to be easier. That is just my view on it though! I mean... I do feel like we are splitting hairs here though, they both are very good capable mics, that I gave extremely good grades. I think it just comes down to the person’s voice and what they want to achieve in post, or not want to do in post.
@f5770
@f5770 4 жыл бұрын
@@AudioHotline thank you for your response. I totally agree with you on the more simple management of the post with a more linear nt1, and I am not a fan of the high boosted mic, f. e. I don't like so much the Origin, although I appreciate its natural sound, but it seems to harsh to me, as well as the nt1a, but saying something like that seems to be sacrilegious for many :-) Anyway I noticed more details on the lewitt, it's a pity this boost on the high freq, it's true, but it's not exaggerate to me, it gives some air to the sound, but unfortunately the details cannot be achieved in post with an EQ, could be a good tradeoff. That being said it is very subjective, and you did a very good review as usual, and I appreciate your humor! :-D Thank you! Keep it up!

great review, I was just wondering if you have to have an audio interface if you want to use the mic alone ? Or could you just plug it straight into your computer ? I don’t know much about audio but wanted to upgrade from the current mic I use with my pc and this seemed like a solid option. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!

You will need an interface. This microphone requires +48v of phantom power, so you'll need an interface that can supply that. You can get something like an iRig Pre if you want the headphone jack option and a device that can supply the phantom power, but I would recommend a dedicated usb interface. iRig Pre Link: bit.ly/3qwzQFo Some good interface options: UM2: amzn.to/30uz0hY Scarlett Solo: amzn.to/3ryOahN evo4: amzn.to/3v9VfrC Motu M2: amzn.to/2N7Y5w4

People who complain about the top end with this mic. Point me to a condenser mic that doesn't sound top heavy. :D
@AudioHotline
@AudioHotline 2 жыл бұрын
This is interesting because I feel like there are two different things at play here. Since condenser microphones have an extended frequency range, especially in the in the high end compared to a lot of dynamic mics. This extended range could be perceived as “top heavy” but in all reality condensers are just giving you more frequency range. There is a difference between getting more out of your frequency range and those extended frequencies adding clarity to the high end VS the mic company going for that modern sound and doing what they can to boost those treble frequencies. I absolutely love this mic, even though it is pretty hyped in the high end. Some people love that, some people hate it, nothing wrong with being on either side. The Rode NT1 is definitely a mic that comes to mind that sounds a bit more natural vs the 440 pure. Even the NT1a has a pretty hyped high end, but the 440 is just slightly more boosted. The cad e100s is definitely a little more balanced than the 440. The 512 Audio Skylight is actually a bit darker for a condenser mic. The Lauten LA220 is slightly more recessed in the high end and doesn’t have some of the harshness that the 440 pure can show in some situations. There are more “flat” or “natural” sounding mics in the higher price categories, but I don’t feel like that’s really a fair comparison. You’re not wrong though, A LOT of newer condenser microphones are going for that “modern” sound of having a pretty boosted top end. The 440 pure just happens to be one of them that really goes for that hyped modern sound. Nothing wrong with that, it just appeals to a certain crowd with a certain preference.

@@AudioHotline very good points indeed. Funny thing thing is no matter the condenser there are always some reviews that they returned it due to it sounding "harsh" yes even for the NT1. I think what matters the most is simply the voice.

Kailash that’s a REALLY tough one! You would be happy with either mic for recording music. The NT1 is just SLIGHTLY more flat, but they both are very good at representing the source. I have recorded a lot of music with the Rode NT1 so I do have a love for it. The Lewitt is somewhat new to me but I have been really happy with how it sounds. It is like you’re asking me to pick between two children!!! Hahaha. I guess I would go with the RØDE if I had to pick haha.
