I like your voice better with the metal pop than with the foam. It sounds much clearer and more defined.

I'm glad I watched this. I have a very sibilant voice, so this might not be the best choice for me. I've actually switched to using an SM7B because of my sibilance. I don't love how muffled the SM7B sounds, but at least I have something I know will work, even if it's not the most open and detailed sound. There are things you can do to improve that, but there's not much you can do with sibilance that doesn't respond to a de-esser. I'm still searching for a condenser that will complement my voice.

That blues song is my kinda jam!!! Props on the vocals too! I absolutely love my Lewitt 540 Sub Zero. Got it a few months back and agree that it takes very little gain. You forgot to mention the built in attenuation features and padding and highpass button that are a HUGE convenience. I also love the lack of self-noise too, its the quietest mic out there, full stop. That mic combined with Waves new Clarity VX plugin will be the perfect pair to record vocals. Mind you I've been recording, without the plugin thus far and had phenomenal results.

Thanks!!! Yeah I agree. There are so many things about this mic that really blow my mind!

Ive owned the 540S since It was introduced, I also own Neuman u47, Tlm 103 and a gang of other mics, Majority of my clients always chooses the 540s. I also run it through a Neve 1073, or a UA La610, Twinfinity, to a 610, They love the results never had any sibilance issues at all. You may want to try an external Preamp of your choosing. I use UAD Apollo x8 bypass the converters and go directly to my my external mic preamp to my DBX 160 compressor or my destressor rack gear on the road I use the RME ADI-2 Pro FS R black edition never had an issue.

In your room, you could make it sound less overwhelmingly live and sibilant by removing diffusers from where you record and replace it with absorbers. Or you could deaden the front of the room with absorption and leave the back of your room a little live with diffusers. Might help! -audio engineer

Thanks for the input! I probably need to pay a local audio engineer to come in and help treat the room, huh?

Have you considered buying a measurement microphone and using free software such as REW to measure your studio's frequency response at the recording and monitoring position? I recently redid my studio treatment measuring along the way. Took some work but got the control room response from 40Hz on up within +/-2db.
@MintGreenAudio2 жыл бұрын
I've considered it. Once I decide to block out an entire day to redo the room, I may do that!
