I’ve mixed some recordings made with those mics and they do sound great. Your voice sounds really good with it also.

Wow! Somebody that actually knows of which they speak. Quite a joy for an Old Engineer that studied with Eddie Brackett. I'm getting some of the Lewitt mics.

I can hear a difference between that and the 940 or 1040 whichever it was in your chamber video. I've noticed the whole Lewitt line is incredible. I have the 640 and 440 Pure and there's a little less lows in the 440, but still an amazing mic. Gone are the days of cheap mics = Bright = Rode

Geoff - I fully understand you :) I bought LCT440 Pure a month ago, after months of using SM7B. I couldn't believe my ears - 440 is absolutly noiseless! :D And yes, I have to say this - I LOVE LCT440 :) and I don't care about people who say - "You have SM7B, use SM7B, this is STANDARD for podcasts" or "Man, you have WarmAudio WA87, why don't you use this super mic?" :) They don't know the truth ;) By the way, don't you think that the LCTs have a built-in noise reduction and compressor? :D

SM7B was never a good mic for podcasts. Never a good mic for Voice chat. Never a good mic for Videos Never a good mic for Live Streaming. Never a good mic for music. The moment unidyne came out, dynamic microphone innovation ended until neodymium became mainstream. Not exactly a laundry list of innovations for condensers either. Getting off tubes and then later getting off transformers were the main things.

I watched your izotope videos and was like "this dude sounds amazing what mic is that" lol ... So I searched your name hoping that you would talk about lewitt and here it is ... Thank you for this video. Now I'm trying to decide between the 440 and the pure tube for rap vocals and singing.

Dude you just convinced me. I've been thinking about Lewitt forever!!! It's time to take a dive. I first learned about them from Warren Hewiitt. Bless man.

Thanks for this interesting perspective! While I was watching the video I already observed myself questioning some of my habbits when it comes to new gear.

I first heard Glenn Beck using this mic, but didn't know what it was. I searched for and scanned photos of Beck in the studio trying to spy a brand name. Finally, I figured it out, and bought the LCT 540s. I've had a Shure SM7B for years, and it has now been relegated to 2nd chair. I do a video show and sent my editor audio from the SM7B, the Rode NTG4+ and the LCT 540s, and he chose the latter hands down. I'd love to get a Manley Reference Cardioid, but am wondering how much better it could possibly be.

Great review. I’ve been using this mic for 5 years on every voiceover genre. Tv documentaries, commercials, trailers, video games and more. The detail is incredible especially for character voices and very nuanced performances. I’m still experimenting with my signal chain after the mic. What are the elements in your signal chain here after the mic ?

A little bit of Rx and the Adobe stock compressor.

I just got the stereo pair of the lct 140 air and can't wait to try them out on an acoustic guitar. Just have to wait until I recover from a shoulder operation gaddang it 🙂

Thanks for great content as always. Personally I don't like the sound of this mic. It sounds a bit robotic and raspy and think I preferred your shure. Much love.

ממליץ עליו לראפ ושירה? יותר טוב מrode nt1?
@1971avig Жыл бұрын

I've been seeing and hearing about Lewitt Audio for a few months now. And it's usually good things. I got myself some 4 or 5 years ago a set of microphones to record my drums. Shure PGA 7 piece drum kit microphones. The whole idea of recording fell apart with my band but I used those mics to record some stuff for myself at home. I was thinking about getting Shure SM57, as everyone is saying it's a golden standard but maybe I should spend those few pounds more and get myself one of those? Some "talking" vocals and acoustic guitar... Maybe a bit of singing when I feel more secure about my voice... And suggestions? SM57? Lewitt? Maybe something else?

I am somewhat irritated by the strong fluctuations, especially in the bass range, probably caused by your movements. I find it really hard to bear. I listen with headphones btw

This is weird. I'm sure the mic is great, but I feel that this video sounds phase-y and the low end is very inconsistent... maybe there's something going on on my end, but other videos seem fine...
@finspire86322 жыл бұрын
No it is not at your end... The low end is inconsistent and that is due to the cardioid pattern proximity behaviour... In his position, which is quite far from the mic and sideways, even a small 1-2cm change of the sweet spot will result in less proximity which is immediately audible... the reason for this is he is hitting the mic from the side so to avoid popping as he removed the supplied magnetic pop-shield. Like this he's hitting a very side of the cardioid pattern and as soon as the head moves away the voice falls outside of the pattern and distance changes too much so it is super inconsistent. Two options - 1st: come closer to the mic - or and less to an angle (looks worse on the camera and to the viewer) and learn how to control the plosives within the manner of speech (little technique to learn :-)... or 2nd: use the pop-shield provided (less need for controlled speech) come slightly closer, or and change the angle a bit (still ok for the viewer) and don't move the head too much during the whole take. If you don't monitor yourself at the time of recording, you cannot work the mic and decide what to re-take as needed due to the change in the sound - speakers distance to the mic's proximity pattern. I would also consider putting mic lower and angle it upwards...
