He is a very interesting mix of humility, self confidence, and self awareness. He is a handsome, well spoken young man. I have enjoyed hearing his story.

He's likeable unlike Gordon Ryan.

Roger is class, pure and simple. Nice to see him show the warmth which many will not be aware of.

It isn't really "people" who say Roger does "basic" Jiu-Jitsu, it is his family that pushes that rhetoric because he is the best in the family, and thus when they say Roger only relies on what is considered "Gracie Jiu-Jitsu," then they can claim their style is the best as well.

What is "gracie" jiu jitsu versus brazilian jiu jitsu? I just started and want to do the best.

@@CE-vd2px it doesn’t matter if you’re just starting

@@josephliao9733 gii or no gii? I was thinking no gii is better because of all those street fights i totally get into. But my dojo makes us wear gis.

@@CE-vd2px if you're a beginner it doesn't matter, you will benefit from both.

I say he did “basic” jiu-jitsu because of how many times he won elite level comp with “basic” stuff I was shown my first day, week, month of training. Like armbar from closed guard. In a world where everyone was hyped up on berimbolos and butterfly and even like rubber guard or w/e and heres this guy doing relatively newbie stuff at the highest level.

I am thinking that coming from the mountain top view of excellence for anything I choose to do is the best place to begin. And then start making tons of errors towards that goal!

I am 5'7 160lbs. Everyone says I am super strong. Even someone who was 360lbs told me I was strong as hell. Like Roger, if you hand me weights.. at most ill bench 210lbs. At most ill curl maybe 110lbs. I have good practical strength.
