A friend of mine and I sparred a few years ago and I didn’t know that he had a Judo, BJJ and TKD background. My grandpa taught me a bit of boxing as a kid. I know how to throw a right hook, jab, cross, uppercut combo like it’s nothing but the ONE time I got launched into the air and into my back via the beauty of Judo, I knew there was something special about this martial art. I was hit with an Uchi Mata and I fell in love with Judo instantly. I thought “Whoa, here’s a guy half my size just launching me like a catapault. That was awesome!” If Newton could see his Laws of Motion being applied like they are in Judo, he would be in awe and one bad Judoka.

There's something beautiful about how this comment expresses it. It for sure is the most athletic and explosive judo throw, I think it represents the mental image of judo the best. "You're about to go flying now my dude" is how uchi mata feels like for both sides.

So wholesome to see Lex nerding out hard about Judo.

Fr, he’s normally so composed but there’s clearly a sense of passion and nostalgia whenever someone mentions Judo to him

This is one of my favorite throws. Shockingly effective even in non judo situations 😅
