Thanks, Mattia. I wonder if you could perhaps talk about the most illusive aspect of creation; that is actually hearing the notes and possible accompaniments. The actual "creative" imagination and where that comes from. I am not sure that can be taught. Perhaps over time it can be "developed," but I am not sure. I am blessed, I hear melodies all day long, but, for example, I know a classical concert pianist who cannot play or hear a note without a score in front of her. She literally has a hard time picking out the melody for 'Three Blind Mice' without a score, and yet she is a highly regarded pianist. Many thanks for this excellent work, sir.

Very nice, man. I appreciated being reminded about creating space for the melody to ring out in it's most powerful register. Also using divisi is something I rarely do and should do more. These subtle things are the difference between a good orchestration and a great one. Your orchestration is fantastic, btw. Glad I came across this. I'm writing something right now and trying to pin down the orchestration after having sketched the broad strokes. Practice Practice. Best of luck!

Best video Ive seen on the topic in months. good work. Im a classical pianist with a hand injury so im getting into daw orchestration and composition. Most stuff out there is quite useless. THe way I went about learning was punching in bartoks concerto for orchestra as true as i possibly could and stravinsky's firebird suite because those two works had all the sounds and mixes which interested me all my life. next will be apres midi d'une faun by debssey. I can't stress how much can be learnt by simply copying what has been done by the great ones. watching videos like your is another good way. :)

Thanks that's very kind of you! I'm still very new to KZbin and I'm quite happy with what I achieved in less than a year but there's definitely a big learning curve for this platform. Particularly so when it comes to targeting videos. It can be competitive because there is so much stuff out there and often smaller guys don't get suggested as much as big fish. Things are starting to kick off at a much faster pace now and I'm hoping with new, better content, to give the channel a boost but I'm very grateful for the small following I already have.
