DIY Dave is at it again, this time replacing a front parking sensor on a 2015 ES Lexus 350. This isn't just about replacing a sensor, its about removing and replacing the front bumper, which is a far bigger challenge!.

I have a 2018 RC and Lexus is trying to charge me $1,922 parts and labor + $400 reprograming to replace my two rear center parking sensors. I laughed then told them to give me my keys. So, I bought all of the necessary tools and parts ($90) for the job and will attempt to fix myself. I bought two replacement non OEM sensors off Ebay for $35 and a auto socket wrench set with fastener removal tool and clips for ($55). This video is awesome. Wish me luck!!

I have a 2007 Lexus ES350. I was in an accident and have to replace my front bumper. I'm on a fixed an income, and trying to put my car back together. The bumper I ordered didn't come with the sensor holes drilled. Do I have to reinstall the sensors, or can I just fasten the wires on the inside of the bumper? Do I have to drill the holes, or can they be fastened on the inside? I can live without parking assistance. Plus, I don't own a drill haha. I hope I'm explaining the situation well enough. Thank you.

@@danielrosales420 My bumper didn't have actual holes, just a "die cut" around where the sensor signal is emitted. So I would probably be hesitant to drill any holes.
@danielrosales4208 күн бұрын
@DIYDaveOK Oh OK. My original bumper had sensor holes. The new bumper does not, but everything else looks the same. So, I'm wondering if it's OK to put the bumper back on, without using the sensors. They still work I think. Currently, no dashboard lights going off or anything.
@DIYDaveOK8 күн бұрын
@@danielrosales420 Well for an 07 I guess I would probably have to defer to how the original bumper looked. The mechanical attachment of the sensor to the bumper really should not be dependent on the hole, as (at least in my case) the sensor just clipped on.

Sorry to bug, great video though! My question is, when changing the sensors when or do they need to be calibrated? Thank you
@DIYDaveOK2 жыл бұрын
No calibration necessary. Plug and play. Thanks for watching!

I just had my front bumper on my 2013 Lexus Es 300H and less then a week later The PCS, Master Warning Light, Brake System Warning Light, ABS and Slip Indicator light came on, I took it to get the brakes check and they're 90%, Do you think it has to do with something that was damaged in the bumper area? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Dave, thanks for posting this video. I got a puncture on my 2021 Lexus es300h front bumper. If I replace the front bumper would I need to get all parking sensors and the radar calibrated ?
@DIYDaveOK Жыл бұрын
The sensor I replaced did not have to be calibrated - it just worked. Now the radar may well be another matter - not sure about that - my car doesn't have the radar. I'd plug them in and take them for a test drive and see if they work. If I find out something different I will post!! Thanks for watching!

What is the name of pop up screws? And where can I purchase some ? Thank you
@DIYDaveOK2 жыл бұрын
There are so many similar such clips I wasn't sure if these were the exact ones, but I *think* 52161C is the right part number. You can get them from Toyota or Amazon sells knockoffs in bags of 10/20 or more for $5-10 depending upon the seller. For any particular applications you might look at an exploded parts diagram from the Toyota/Lexus parts website to make sure it is the correct retainer. Thanks for watching!

How many sensors on the front and back bumper? And are they the same the sensors?
@DIYDaveOK2 жыл бұрын
There are four sensors across the front bumper; the inner two are the same, and the outer two are the same as I recall from the drawings. I don't know about the back bumper sensors.
@bigstranger57892 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have the same car like this one. Is it 4 sensors in the back bumper? Same sensors as the front? Thanks again
@DIYDaveOK2 жыл бұрын
@@bigstranger5789 I did a bit of checking and it appears the four sensors on the back bumper are all the same. Here is a link to a Lexus diagram I found that illustrates the location and part number. parts.lexus.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_product=62980829&ukey_assembly=6717600&ukey_make=5773&ukey_model=89438&ukey_driveline=0&ukey_trimlevel=0&modelYear=2015

I have a 2013 ES350 do i have to get the front left sensor from the dealer, or is an after-market sensor ok?
@DIYDaveOK4 ай бұрын
In all honesty, for an electronic part like this, I'd go OEM.
