German car industry in terms of design and technology is absolutely dominant. The only non German brand who has been a true competition is the Lexus. Lexus is the best what Japan has to offer and I really love their products. They are not that attractive and don't have a WoW effect like German models,but Lexus has one thing what others don't have,and that is Quality. Lexus is still number one when it comes to quality, and quality is very important today. It is understandable that in any new Mercedes,Bmw,Porsche, there is a lot of software,electronics, cables and it cannot last forever. Lexus also has similar to offer but obviously Japanese know how to make best quality product all these years. Great job,no doubt.

Thomas, I believe Lexus' normally aspirated engines use both direct and port injection. This is ideal, because you'll have a more efficient burn, but maintain cleaner intake valves than with the direct injection alone.

Thomas, I've been wondering about the water injection that BMW has implemented for the M4 GTS. Do you know if it is for rectifying this problem, or is it a way to just cool, or make some other improvement to the air/fuel mixture and improve atomization? For years, It used to be added to carburetors to occasionally manually squirt water for the purpose of cleaning the intake valves, but I'd really like to know more about BMW's design. Thank you.

German sports cars are like a moody secretary: one day she'll do an outstanding job, the next she might be extremely cranky and not work at all. @JC1306764 жыл бұрын
Don't bother with the GS 300h. The smaller engine has to work a lot harder even in normal driving so you're not really getting the fuel economy benefit you'd expect. You're better off getting the GS 450h, similar fuel economy with much better performance and it sounds nicer as well. I did a test drive in a GS 300h first but after five minutes in a GS 450h I had made my decision. I've had mine for two years now and I'm still as happy as on day one.

@@alexanderp5612 In that case don't bother with the GS, go for the ES 300h instead. It's got about as much power but is slightly lighter, has better fuel economy and it's got a little more space in the rear. I drove one for a day (loaner while my GS was being serviced) and it's a good car. Wouldn't trade it for my GS though. One thing that surprised me was how much bigger the turning circle of the ES is, at times it felt like I was driving an ocean steamer. Actually it's not that bad for a car of that size but the GS has a really tight turning circle so I guess I'm spoiled. ;-)

Tedious! Why do you bother reviewing anything made by Lexus? You are always so pedantic and hyper-critical - eg, the blue trim on the engine cover doesn’t match the colour of the car, oh no! The reason? The shade of blue on the engine cover is the F Sport signature / brand colour. If the car were red, it would have the same blue trim on the engine cover. And why do you never acknowledge Lexus’s superior build quality and craftsmanship compared to BMW, Mercedes, Audi or Jaguar? At 160,000km an M5 would be an unreliable money pit that also needs an engine rebuild; at 200,000km a GSF would need nothing more than standard servicing and be as reliable as a Blancpain.

Well first now, beginning with the next full review, we will present you everything in 60p - that will look even more fluid and especially honours American friends who are watching Autogefühl on a TV. As for 4K, I do not want to abandon 50/60p, and most cameras cannot make both yet. Plus, those are tremendous data rates and you would also need to upgrade production equipment ... plus uploading times / bandwidth which is limited. And then is the question ... who could stream 4K ?
@revoltoff7 жыл бұрын
Get a RED camera lol. As for the streaming part, most people in Europe/VS can nowadays , internet speeds have doubled since 2014. I know the data is a huge issue but tbh HDD's are becoming sooo cheap and SSD's too. IMO 60fps is a gimmick for videos like this , 29.97 is more than enough, I mean, what are you trying to show lol... a bird flying or perhaps a game? No. I would MUCH prefer 4K but I perfectly understand the investment is kinda hard. And p.s. what do you mean by that the American viewers are watching it on their TV's lol.. Years ago i was a huge fan of Toyota and Lexus - esp. Lexus obviously. They do last forever, and are very very reliable compared to German cars. However I have come to realize that there is a difference between electrical engineering (go Japanese) and mechanical engineering (go Germans). After years and years of looking at the differences, the Germans, as a general rule, are better mechanical engineers. You can argue that point ad nauseam, but 99% of motor journalists say German cars set the standard for driving pleasure and a nice solid feel.. They cannot ALL be biased....if you think YOU are right and THEY are ALL wrong, well - that's ok too (I guess?!). The reality is, better chassis and suspensions translate into a better driving experience. (And Safety - its only recently that the Japanese are closing the crash safety gap - go onto IIHS and see for yourself. One thing I will say, today - Lexus IS designing stunning interiors and the design language is pretty stunning!

Lexus design doesn't make sense. The front is a mish mash of sharp creases and protruding edges then the side profile has none of this. So it is like one person designed the front. another the side and another the back. Oh and the awful 90s look interiors with bad screen graphics are not good at all. It is full of Toyota bits in there. If they want to compete with the German manufacturers, they need better, more cohesive design and bespoke switchgear not shared with a sad Corolla.

Not sure about the looks, I think the older ones look better. A bit too much of everything. Also some of the buttons and vents look like they are from 90's Toyota :)

The digital instruments look awesome, reminds me of LFA.
