In the LC500 race they said the cars were identical but they are not. Randy is driving a car with the performance package which includes 21" wheels, carbon fiber roof, limited slip diff, 4 wheel steering, and an automatic spoiler. I think in track conditions he definitely had the advantage with at least the limited slip diff.

I enjoyed the episode. Thank you. Also, I feel bad for those who don't understand that it is supposed to feel a little corny/cheesy. First off these guys are not professional actors SURPRISE they are race-car drivers. The production team is trying very hard to teach the basics of racing and make it entertaining. Take close note of how Randy is verbally streaming his thoughts trying to teach the youngster/newbies and all they can do is complain in the comments section about how the filming "feels staged" and how the experienced wise drivers are not wearing flat brimmed baseball caps and riding on wheels cambered to the max.

I think it's one of the better show ideas I've seen, and well executed too. Motor Trend gets sponsorship money and content, and car makers get a chance to show off their cars without having to put their reputation up against another manufacturer's car. It's pretty clever.

@randypobstofficial 7 жыл бұрын
Oh, it's me, ZDY, thx for feedback. Please explain more about what you want to see, I don't quite get it. Why who made decisions? Lexus? Or our show? Tires: every tire has a best pressure range that is very important to getting the most grip. On many street tires it's about 35-37 lbs hot. Your cold pressures will come up a lot on track, 10 lbs or more is not unusual. Brake pressure is just enough to almost lock the tires, and to lock the fronts just before the rears for stability, if non-ABS. Even with ABS, you want to set balance with ABS off, so you know it operates in a balanced way when ABS is on. How's that for a start? Thanks again! Randy Lee Pobst (see? I know my middle name)
@ZDY66666
@ZDY66666 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Randy, I mean more on the lines of explaining why certain tracks are beneficial for what kind of tires and tire pressure. Why did you make a certain pass on the other driver, and why it was safe to do so during that part of the track. In a sense, the spontaneously strategies used on the fly by the drivers as well as how set ups benefit in certain scenarios and what set ups you should run. Of course theres no need to include all of them in a single episode (or else there would be no ends to it), but a more detailed play by play analysis (you guys already have, but more so!) on the action being taken would be super cool! Maybe even a certain bump in the track allowed something to be done (I'm probably over thinking but who knows, sometimes races are won by the smallest of things)? Or how your driving style works in terms of maintaining tire temperature. Maybe you know that the second half of a course you can storm through with your car so you try to conserve tires in the first half (of course this would be more so assuming drivers have different cars). Season 1 gave us the fundamentals of racing basics, and just like you said, season 2 should be a combination of those techniques. I'm simply suggesting more detail. Not sure how that will fair with the producers because too much knowledge turns a lot of viewers off and make some feel like its a grind of learning and education rather than an entertaining show, so striking a balance will be important as well (not that I would mind the ultimate Randy Pobst version on every technique about racing, but might not sit well with the more impatient viewers). And also maybe battle of the minds during each battle. The thoughts that are going through your heads, the mind games you guys are predicting from one another and the races of thoughts going through your heads on planning your next over take or maybe you want to purposely stay behind them and pressure them until a certain corner that suits your car, etc etc. Not sure if I managed to explain what I meant because I just babbled on, but something on that line! actually... maybe all of this I suggested would only work if you guys were to drive equally as fast cars but with different set ups and strengths/weaknesses. That would awesome! Maybe mid engine Cayman Vs M3, 2 completely and utterly different cars but has advantages and disadvantages of their own. Light vs heavy, NA vs turbo, Raw hp differences and how lower HP cars over come them, or how to abuse your higher HP, etc etc. (and sorry about the puns like "on the line" or "Racing thoughts" haha!)

Love the new format. Great idea. Best episode ever. Please don't give into the temptation to 'adjust' the races to make them better for the camera. Give us some honest racing. Looking forward to the next episode.

I lust after a GS-F model. I like that way more than any of the other models. But, alas if all I can get is an RC-F. I won't complain. (:

I loved this video so much. The competition. But kind of think it was biased towards Randy. Since its his show. I first watched Motortrend when Justin was the hotshoe guy. Then Randy came. So i hoped Justin would come out the winner. But all in all. Way to go guys. Now thats racing
