I've owned this exact same car also in Cali, I had it for 20+ years and sold it to an enthusiast for $2000 cash with 265k miles in 2020. It was a little dinged up but otherwise very clean inside and out with original everything in good working order. I've owned 20 cars but honestly this is the best car I've ever owned. The performance, luxury and above all reliability is superb, never had any issues with the car over 20 years with minimal basic maintenance. If I can buy the same car over again new today, I'll do it in a heartbeat

Beautiful car and in great condition. I love how the older Lexus has the leather "folds/krinkles" on them and not all smooth. This color combination of a white exterior and cream tannish color is a dream and my favorite in a Lexus.

I found a 98 that's black with black leather interior with 147k on it. He's asking $2900 but he's willing to go lower. I haven't been able to see it in person but the pictures make it look really clean. Seems like an amazing deal from what I've seen shopping around. Hard to find that exterior/interior combo as well.

If it is in great condition that is a steal of a deal, but you never know until you see the car in person. People will say one thing over the phone or on an ad listing and you go to see the car and you feel like you arent looking at the same vehicle. Be cautious when you go look at it and know what you are looking for and test everything out to make sure it works. you dont want to buy the car and find out later that things dont work. Best of luck to you and hope it is a steal of a deal

If you are looking to buy one make sure you check the main seals around the motor (these can leak which is common), and check the transmission really thoroughly by putting it in and out of the gears a couple times and look for leaks around the transmission as well as testing out the motor and trans when you test drive it. @DaylyDriverDayly 9 жыл бұрын
Thank you soo much!! You won't regret your purchase! As a heads up, I would check the alternator for corrosion and rust (a common replacement $200-300), the hood and trunk shocks (just open them up when looking at the car, if they are bad it can cost you about $300 for both hood shocks, not including the trunk shocks). Definitely check for leaks around the engine seals, if the gaskets and cam seals are bad they can cost you lots of $$. Check for transmission leaks and also look inside the motor where you put the oil because if there is lots of black sludge built up inside you will be able to see it and that will determine if the car has truly been maintained with proper oil changes and can determine the rest of the condition of the vehicle and how it has been take care of maintenance-wise. Use everything that needs a fixing on the car as your main source of negotiation (only 3% of cars on the market are actually mint condition), so keep your eyes and ears peeled. Good luck with your findings.

@@explorehunter well that's very nice it is a jdm gsr. the concern is if it is able to be registered in your state. if so, it may be worth it finding one with that low of kms. you can find them with low mileage but they usually hold higher prices. just make sure everything checks out and that it is able to be registered where you live before you consider purchasing

Is a black on black 98 gs400 with 70k miles for 4k dollars a good buy? Clean title but he mentions a small accident. Car looks clean
@DaylyDriverDayly
@DaylyDriverDayly 6 жыл бұрын
that sounds like an amazing deal. the only question is how big the accident was, where the car was hit and how extensive the body damage was or is. there is much that can be affected in a frontal or rear accident. if the car has been repaired is one thing, if it hasn't been repaired is a whole other problem. it could have a current clean title if it hasn't been repaired since the accident. if the accident wasn't reported to the insurance company than they can evade having to salvage the car depending on the severity of the accident. keep this in mind. you will need to see and drive the car in person to get a better idea of what the person is telling you. don't believe everything you are told, believe what you see when you see it. let me know if you have any further questions. best of luck to you 👌

@DaylyDriverDayly
@DaylyDriverDayly 8 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The only difference between the gs300 and gs400 is the size of the motor and the options it has. The gs300 is a great vehicle. it has the same motor as the toyota supra mk4 when it was made. Ive seen the gs300s before with 400k miles and they still hold their value. Make sure that the car doesnt have any major leaks around the motor seals. Also check under the car to see if there are any leaks coming from the transmission oil pan and the engine oil pan, this would be a costly repair. The power steering does tend to go out on these cars, but if it has that issue its not a big deal, cheap to repair. I hope this helps out. Let me know if you have any other questions regarding the vehicle you are looking at.

@DaylyDriverDayly
@DaylyDriverDayly 8 жыл бұрын
To locate the year of the vehicle just look at the inside door seal of the passenger door. Make sure to keep an eye on anything that doesnt work on the car like the air conditioning or heater not working. it could be a simple cost like an air conditioning recharge or as expensive as a a/c condenser which could cost up to $800. Let the seller know what is wrong with the car, not what is good about it, this way you never side with the seller which would give them a better opportunity to get a higher price for the car since they will know you are very interested and could be willing to pay a higher price. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Best of luck.

Hey there not sure if you still check your comments but I’m about to test drive a black on black 2004 Gs430 with 140k miles on it. Seller is asking $5,500 for it. It Has a few mods such as coilovers, a borla cat back exhaust, K&N intake and a some other stuff. Any advice on what to look for when test driving and inspecting? Also, any idea how long these generally run in terms of miles and cost of owner ship?
@DaylyDriverDayly
@DaylyDriverDayly 6 жыл бұрын
Mateo Casanova that is an amazing price on that car with the miles. The 2004 GS430 is hard to come by especially black on black. I would start the car up and turn it off at least 4 times to make sure that it turns over without issue. I would also check for leaks around the engine because the gaskets and seals tend to leak with the miles. Go over bumps to make sure the struts and springs don't make noise or bounce you around after going over the bump. This could mean it may need new suspension if it does. The control arms, and tie rod ends also will go out over time (part of the suspension). Check the wear on the tires and see if they are all matching tires. Look for rust in the wheel wells and underneath the car and inside the engine bay. Drive the car for at least 20 minutes in the city and on the highway and make sure the temperature gauge is in the middle and not overly hot. I would then pop the hood and look to make sure all the belts are turning as the should and have no cracking on them as well as smell for any burning oil or other smells that are unusual. Make sure all the electronics work and that the tires, brakes and rotors are solid and you should be good. There is a lot to it but simple if you test the car out properly and drive it long enough to get a good feel for it. That is a great car and I'm jealous of the price they are asking on it, as long as it is a solid and not salvaged title car. Best of luck. I hope it turns out great for you. Let me know how it goes and if you buy it👌👌👌👍👍

for a good condition one with no major leaks or other mechanical problems and a good exterior with no major dents and scratches and an interior with no rips or tears with around 100,000 miles for say a 1999 or 2000, depending on where you are from and with the market soooo bad in the used car market you could be looking to pay at least $6-7k. I would suggest waiting until around march of 2017 to buy because the market value on used cars right now is inflated. hope this helps

Hey, I'm thinking to buy a used gs400 1998 from the second owner, he had a minor accident on the right front, so he decided to paint the whole car, also he Changed the engine because of the engine heated with no enough water in the radiator it ha 25000 mils, he is asking for 4356 $. This is the first time am switching to v8 engine from v4 plz provide me with more details on the car gas mileage and is it a car for daily use with reliability like am not going to be stuck in the middle of the road because of some issue

skater93, personally if you are trying to find a nice GS400 I wouldnt buy one that has 250k, a replaced engine, and been repainted. For the price of $4,365 you can do a lot better than that. I wouldnt waste my time with it, there are too many other vehicles for sale especially if you are trying to find something reliable. From what you told me the vehicle does not sound like it was taken care of.

Can anyone tell me if $4500 is too much to pay for a 2000 GS400 with 210k Miles ?

When checking the shifter for the thud sounds you mention in the video, does the motor need to be running? Also, are repair costs very high for these cars? I found one with 200,000 miles for $3,200. The good thing is that it looks very clean and was kept in a garage. I'm just nervous about spending crazy prices for repair costs, oil changes, etc. Can someone let me know if this would be a good purchase decision for someone who makes only 35k a year? The $3,200 price tag works for me. I just don't want to be spending thousands in repair. Thanks for any suggestions.

Plan about 10-15% minimum of purchase price for maintenance costs up front. Make sure all front bushings, ball joints, and timing belt have been replaced before you buy. If the seller doesn't know what you're talking about... walk away. ( Coming from experience)
@wholeNwon
@wholeNwon 6 жыл бұрын
@@mike_t_007 I have a '98 LS400 and don't spend a fraction of that on maintenance. Yes, of course, the timing belt is key, along with the other things that should be done at the same time. First question over the phone: "Are you the owner of the vehicle? Do you have a clear title in hand?" Anything other than "yes" to both and I'd be gone.

I wouldn't change from the ls400 to the gs400, I would own both 😂😂. I love the ride of the ls400 over the gs00 because it is wayyy more smooth and comfortable for the longer drives. I'm looking to get an ls400 as a daily driver. how many miles on yours?
@wholeNwon

No worries; I won't change. Though, if I happened to come across an especially nice LS430, I might buy it and just put it away. Mine has only 158K on the clock and we've been together for 20 happy years.

Woww that is amazing. The LS400 has a better motor than the LS430. At least in my personal opinion. The LS430's do look nice though.

@@DaylyDriverDayly why would you say the 1uz is better than the 3uz? I used to have a 430 and really came to appreciate slight edge in power and mpg. It had over 200k miles when I sold it with no major issues
@DaylyDriverDayly
@DaylyDriverDayly 6 жыл бұрын
I love the 430 and have had the fortunate experience to driving the models that had the 4.3 v8 motor. I personally prefer the 400 motor over the 430 due to the larger combustion chamber in the 4ltr over the 4.3ltr with the larger bore. The 400 has a stronger engine block over the 430
