BEWARE!!! Torque spec Information in this video is incorrect and caused me a HUGE headache. The pan bolt torque spec is NOT 15 FTLBS. It’s 65 INCH lbs. or just over 5ft lbs… I snapped FOUR of the pan bolts trying to torque these little M6 bolts to 15 ft lbs. 1 of which broke flush and I had to drill the thing out. I was following along with this damn video and that’s what caused me all this headache. What should have been a 2-3 hour job has turned into 3 days. I know I’m partially to blame for not double checking the torque spec but please man for the love of god make sure you provide all the correct information next time!

Wow, I followed specs provided by Alldata. I’ll double check and out that in the video description. Not of my boot broke.

+1 one to this, I tried 15 FTLBs on my '16 GSF and I snapped the first pan bolt, I used 8 FTLBs on the others. Consider pinning the comment. Great video tho. Thanks!

Brilliant Video, thanks, one question, when removing the overflow once up to temperature, do you leave the car idling, or turn it off?
@skrrtgarage39223 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yea, you leave the car idling 👍🏼
@yvesmillette17212 жыл бұрын
You can use a cheaper scanner like the carly device for example and use that to monitor the ATF temperature in real-time on the car's obd2 diagnostics port. Techstream isn't required. Heat gun is also a good idea!
@sdlausen12 жыл бұрын
Another method to measure trans temps is to use a Bluetooth OBD reader and download the software for your car on it. This unlocks the trans temp reader/feature. Turn the car on, get under the car while it's running while checking temps on your phone. Drain overflow. Done.
@skrrtgarage39222 жыл бұрын
Yea, if I need to redo this I’ll use a scanner for sure

Great video....how many miles did the car have when you changed the fluid?
@XBrandonLeeX7653 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate the video. Just to be clear, after you removed & replaced the gasket on the pan. You filled up the transmission with approximately 5.5 quarts of oil. Started the car, waited for it to get up to temp. Then pulled the overfill plug? Thanks in advance!
@skrrtgarage39223 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly, although I think I put about 5.75 quarts of ATF in. Thanks for the comment 👍🏼

I got my F coming up on a year ago. I feel like it definitely needs this service. Sometimes it'll hang at 2nd or 3rd gear when I turn on to a street because I'm guessing the fluid is low or just not getting enough to shift.
@skrrtgarage39222 жыл бұрын
Yea, this should certainly help!
@fatboynip2 жыл бұрын
When the oil gets old it doesn’t lubricate like it should. So it will make the trans act weird. Ie slip, hang, all that stuff you don’t want. Not to mention old fluid will also wear parts out quicker.

Do you leave the car on once it reaches the desired temperature or turn it off?
@skrrtgarage39222 жыл бұрын
Leave it running while you quickly drain. Then put the cap back on and then turn the car off

No problem, i think these would easily last 5-10 years. There are a few maintenance items that will come up between 80-120k miles but that’s pretty normal. Thankfully no catastrophic issues
