As an owner of a 500 LE, this is good stuff. Plan to keep this car at least 10 years

Finally a good video during the day!

Great video, very clear and concise and thorough. Small suggestion: use a plastic pry tool to separate the transmission pan from the transmission. Using a metal screwdriver could end up gouging the aluminum on the transmission housing itself.

The shop looks clean!! Thanks for the vid.

Thanks man! If you have the 8 speed in your car it should be a very similar procedure!

Also torque your bolts in a pattern just like the tire lugnuts.

Love your video. I was going to change my transmission fluid on my is500 at 30,000 and I think it’s just a waste now. Maybe at 60,000 miles ish.
@SEsGarage3 ай бұрын
Before you make your decision, wait until I get my results back from Blackstone laboratories! I’ll have some hard evidence on how the fluid is at around 40,000 miles!
@JacobMitchell-df7np3 ай бұрын
I was also thinking if I had mine done at the dealer if they would even do as good of a job as you did cleaning up all the metal shavings or if they would just drain it and change the filter
@SEsGarage3 ай бұрын
@@JacobMitchell-df7np I’d sure hope they would! I can tell you that back in my dealership days I treated every vehicle as if it were my own, but not everyone in this trade is like that unfortunately. I hope at minimum I showed you that the job really isn’t that hard and something you can do relatively easily yourself!

Nice work. You did the service at the right time, as the 1st service removes break-in materials. I would not have replaced the rock catcher filter; just do a spill and fill. My '13 GS350 F Sport is due and 105K for its next service; can I borrow your lift?

Great video/walkthrough! Curious if you replaced the gaskets around the drain and fill plugs? If so, do you still have those part #’s handy?

I have a 2007 LS460 rear wheel drive...... is this procedure the same for my car?
@wardy68353 күн бұрын
are the temperatures the same for draining to correct level ?
@SEsGarage3 күн бұрын
Procedure should be the same assuming you have the 8 speed auto! Just double check your temperature window
@elonmusk8667Ай бұрын
At 8:46 will removing this drain plug remove most of the ATF?
@SEsGarageАй бұрын
If you look at your pan, you’ll see that the drain plug is recessed into the pan a bit so you’ll leave behind a quart or so by just doing a drain and fill
@I-lRyze2 ай бұрын
i have RC 350 with the 8 speed is it the same temperature to open the overflow drain at 113f also? if not what is it been having trouble finding it because now my transmission is a more jumpy when shifting i may add half or 1 more qt of fluid
@scottmike02 ай бұрын
Do you recommend new gasket and filter if it hasnt been changed at 95k? I am thinking drain and fill would be best, but not quite sure
@SEsGarage2 ай бұрын
You will get more fluid out of the transmission if you drop the pan, but it’s not that big of a difference. You’d be fine with a drain and fill
@dakster47292 ай бұрын
Great video! I don't think you changed too early. What do you think about adding LubeGard or another additive? I want My IS500 to last forever. Also to nit-pick, hands off the shaft when torquing, especially inch pounds.
@SEsGarageАй бұрын
I tend to steer away from any transmission additives myself!
@RonDaG0atАй бұрын
Is this still considered a drain and fill even though if you drop the pan and change the filter?
@SEsGarageАй бұрын
Yes, this is not a “flush” and about half of the transmissions total capacity will remain in the torque converter. For transmissions with especially dirty fluid I recommend following up this procedure with another drain and fill after driving for a few hundred miles and repeating until the desired results are achieved
