Lexus LS430 Storage Troubles

We took our 2001 Lexus LS430 off the road for the summer. Just 6 weeks later, we went to start it and - nope - dead as a door nail. Even with a new-ish battery.

You may have figured it out already, but even with a new battery, it can drain if the car is just sitting for long periods of time. You can disconnect the negative terminal, or remove the whole battery. You can also buy the covers for the battery terminals which will help protect from that corrosion. You can use a battery tender to keep the battery charged, but since it's parked outside that won't make sense since you'd have to run an extension cable. But you can remove the battery and keep it on a tender in your garage or hook one up the day before you know you're going to start it

Hi from NZ we have a 2004 ls430 and a 2005 sc430 fantastic cars Petrol is about $3.00 a litre so I think I may get shares in oil lol

If your battery dies again you can take it to a Autozone or oreileys and they can test to see I’d a chargeable battery or bad cell. Any car will always draw a minimal amount of power , especially with all the electronics on Lexus,,,,, hope this helps made comment on your sc430 also I had owned a 2000 es300, currently have 08 rx350 and a 01 Ls430 along with a 04 sequoia

see if it is latch mechanism or the cable. Open bonnet / hood use a screw driver on the latch mechanism to see if it locks. You may need to disconnect the latch cable to see if it is the cable or latch. Don’t/ make sure u do not close the hood perhaps use a stick of some form during ur investigation. It will be latch or cable. Ps I do enjoy the channel The LS430 & Sc430 r great car but the C63 has great sound track.

I could second this. Under the hood in the latch mechanism there is a spring connected to a cable. This cable connects to the hood release latch in the cabin. I have found that the spring wears out and you have to go into the latch with a small screwdriver and push the spring back to return the cable to the closed position. Hopefully this helps!
