Thank you so much for your comment. I believe there’s a lot of value in these amateurish user reviews as we actually spend our hard earned money on them vs professional car reviewers who know infinitely more about cars but don’t have that connection with them. I think the RX is THE premium suv to buy in the pre owned market for its reliability and longevity.

Have a 2018 RX350 and love it. Noble Brown interior, like yours, and much of the same optional equipment. Your review is accurate, car is great, smooth ride, detail to craftsmanship etc. Gas mileage is not the greatest, but it is a fairly large vehicle. I am 62 and love the quite it provides, if I were 32 I might opt. for something a little more sporty. Reliable and comfortable, that is my "sweet spot". Thanks!

I have been driving my RX300 now 22 years it’s still excellent internally, friends say, if you close your eyes you would think you were in a new car. Everything still works no problems. The exterior is a bit tattered, mainly due to supermarket car parks. The only downside the fuel consumption 20-25 miles to the UK gallon, less if you are a sporty driver, the time has now come for another Lexus, I think I will try the NX300H .

I’d say that the RX350 is THE crossover for the used car market because of how reliable they continue to be after initial warranty! Another key aspect to it is that Lexus in general don’t change much throughout the years. So the current body style has been around for what, 5 years? And it’s based on the same platform of the prior generation. Very durable, reliable cars. You can’t go wrong with Lexus.

I really like the Q5. I didn’t have the greatest experience with an A4 so in my opinion it doesn’t hold the reliability card of Lexus and/or the resale value. Crossovers in particular don’t get great mpg numbers if they’re AWD. Those 4 cylinder (turbo) CUVs get the same crappy gas mileage (aerodynamics play into this problem). What people don’t realize is AWD components add a lot extra weight from the transfer case, output shaft, rear drive axle and differential. Not to mention the added load on the engine at any given time. When it comes time to replace tires on an AWD car they all need to be replaced with the same tire too, which can get expensive depending on the tires you buy.
@JuanCarlosLTO
@JuanCarlosLTO 3 жыл бұрын
Your so right about AWD tire wear... the body shape plays a role, the weight and the height underneath the vehicle. Ours was FWD but you’re right about the added weight of the AWD system which in the RX is mostly dormant at all times. Thanks for your comment Knuckles

Great review. Gracias. I am about to purchase the 2021 RX350 F Sport. I wish I can shortcut the process and get a good price without the haggling. Years ago I used to call the Fleet Manager and deal directly with them but things have change. Any advice or video on how to get a good price for a new car? I have $10K down payment but I'm honestly turned off by the back and forth. Thanks.
@JuanCarlosLTO
@JuanCarlosLTO 3 жыл бұрын
Luis you’re not alone in that dealership haggling feeling. I hate it too! I usually reference Edmunds.com. They have a car pricing tool that gives you a reference on what people are paying on average for the vehicle you want. Sometimes is a little off though but, it’s a starting point. When buying the RX, think of the following: it’s a vehicle due for a redesign. Toyota/Lexus usually hold on to their redesigns more than other brands. The RX350 is riding on the same platform of the prior generation Toyota Highlander which saw a redesign on 2019. So my guess is that the new generation RX350 will come in mid 2022. So, a vehicle at the end of its cycle usually means better incentives, rebates and discounts. The only problem you may face is the fact that there’s a vehicle production delay at the moment and my guess is that dealers may be less willing to drop their prices on the RX. It’d say that if it wasn’t for that, you could get the RX for around 10% less than MSRP or around Invoice. If you live in a metropolitan area you might be able to get quotes from different dealerships. Good luck and sorry for the long reply

The RX is a better used car purchase than the BMW. I’ve had many BMW’s and they fall apart after the initial warranty so they get pretty expensive to repair and keep on the road if you didn’t buy an extended warranty or bought it certified pre owned. The RX will last you a long, long time.

It’d be nice but the RX is a front wheel drive platform so it could never handle like the other 2 you mention. Reliability wise it will run laps around any BMW/MB product. Actually Lexus doesn’t have a product to compete with the Germans as the GX is truck based. Don’t take me wrong, I love how BMW’s drive and have had 4 of them but they aren’t reliable enough to own long term past initial warranty. My 1989 BMW 325i is still going strong at 227k miles but they don’t build them like that anymore.

Is the RX 350 their medium size SUV? we are looking for a medium size just for my wife, my tern son and my 90lbs goldendoodle. We wanted to get the 450h just because its hybrid but even used is so expensive and I don't know we will be saving any money on long run by going with the hybrid compare to the rx 350? Also what used year do you recomend?
@JuanCarlosLTO
@JuanCarlosLTO 2 жыл бұрын
It is a midsize SUV with plenty of space for what you need it. For 2018 they added a third row version but that third row is cramped and not suited for adults on a longer trip plus it kills any storage room. Your spot on on the hybrid dilemma: expensive and it’d take you years to offset the extra money you spend on it. As far as what year to get: any generation is just as good but it grew a bit bigger for its fourth generation (2015-present). The generation before it is more of the size of the current NX. Have you looked into the Toyota Highlander? Same platform, powertrain… less money but obviously less premium feel. The latest generation Highlander is already on a newer platform as well.

Wife and I were car shopping July 2020 and drove a new one. We were looking to trade her vehicle so would have been her’s. I had always wanted a Lexus and found them to not be as high priced as I thought, however, guess I had higher expectations and really was not that impressed and my wife wasn’t either. We actually purchased something I would not have expected and bought a 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited. Drove better, sits and rides better and lots more standard equipment and we both love it. Was a little less money but not much. Great video Juan. Thanks.

I really like the Palisade, good choice! Hyundai/Kia/Genesis have been making great vehicles lately, I was eyeballing the upcoming GV70, gorgeous vehicle. I heard that for a while Hyundai couldn’t meet demand of the Palisade, that’s how popular it is. As far as the RX350, I’m a little bias, as Lexus is our favorite premium brand so the RX checked most of the boxes. Let’s see what Genesis does with the premium crossover segment. I’d say, Hyundai/Kia vehicles always depreciate at a faster rate than Toyota/Lexus. Pure speculation: the Palisade/Telluride came out in the middle of the pandemic therefore I assume many paid over MSRP so I project a lot of these people are going to be upside down on their loans for longer than normal. I wonder what it will do to resale prices. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@JuanCarlosLTO we traded our Palisade in October 2021 not planning on it for a 2022 Genesis GV70 Sport Prestige. For these reasons, wife loved the GV70 (and still does), got a GREAT trade at time and did not have to pay over MSRP for the Genesis. Had lot equity in Palisade and have lot in Genesis. Genesis first vehicle she has ever owned that not found something she didn’t like. She has zero complaints about it. If my wife is happy then so am I. I have a work vehicle provided to me but personally own a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado RST Z71 that I bought in November 2020 before Market went crazy. What they usually do is try to recreate the problem and they usually get away with saying they weren’t able to at the time of testing. Because ours would do it when we’d step on the gas mildly from a stop just to catch up to the vehicle in ahead of us and as we’d start slowing down, second or third gear would kick in and bump us forward. I did. 2 weeks ago. We just wanted another RX350 and checked out both the hybrid and the non hybrid. We liked it but it felt different. Specially and obviously more so the hybrid. The droning was excessive. The turbo 4 was fine but it did make me long for the old normally aspirated V-6. Everything else was good. The interior is just as nice but updated and the exterior looks better IMO. We almost bought the hybrid version but there wasn’t one available and we had to wait about 2 months. One thing I wasn’t in love with is the fact that Lexus has changed the way they bundle their option and we couldn’t get what we wanted without having to get the higher trim levels. They have also itemized some options but again, they’re only available if you upgrade in trims. If I wanted to stay with Toyota/Lexus I would take a very close look at a nicely optioned Highlander and save a few bucks. Do you have one?

I can only compare it to our prior vehicle: 2018 RX350. If the RX was a 2, this is a 3.5? Maybe, I’m not an expert at rating this. The RX was quiet and smooth, this is not that. The 21” wheels with the low profile tires don’t help. The lack of an option to close the massive sunroof doesn’t help either. I remember that in our RX I would close the sunroof cover for quietness during a phone call through Bluetooth. I don’t know if you follow Alex on Autos but he’s one of the best at rating cabin noise with actual stats and comparisons. The leg kick is better and honestly, for the time we had this one, the sensor wasn’t that quick to respond so I never used it as a first option. Great vehicle overall, BTW.

I love my 2021 and it is a beautiful car…. TERRIBLE gas mileage!! It sucks but I’ve gotten used to it.

I love your take on it because some people have dinged me here for saying that. Just because I said the real life MPG isn’t great it doesn’t mean it’s a bad car. I love Lexus, we’ve had 3 of them and will probably get another one one day… but yes, that 3.5 V6 is a legendary workhorse but efficient it’s not.

I hate the giant fish grill on new Lexus and Acura cars. BMW and Audi did that crap too which ruin the looks of these cars.

They just keep getting bigger! 🤣. It started with Audi and now most manufacturers are doing it.

I would never pay 65k for a new Lexus RX350 way overpriced. Too many complex electronics that when break out of warranty cost a lot to fix!

Yes, the top versions of the RX do climb up dramatically in price for an SUV that starts in the high 40’s. As far as complex electronics, I do believe that it’s with any vehicle in the segment and in my experience Lexus’ models tend to be more reliable long term.

My wife had 17 MPG and I used fuel additives. I used Krogers additives first, then SeaFoam just to make sure. And the MPG went up to 21.1 then back down to 20.9 FYI.

I’m not a big fan of fuel additives. I used to use them when I drive beaters decades ago. I’m glad they worked for you

@El Tio Juan Carlos you have one of the best reliable SUVs ever created and all you do is complain about it. Sounds like your wife has you by the ball's. Acura MDX is not as reliable as the rx350. You cry so much you should watch the baby shark video to feel better.

Model Y about reliability? Think twice!

Too late 🤣. So far so good. Nothing in my experience is as reliable as a Toyota/Lexus... so I’m prepared for it. I hardly keep any vehicle out of warranty and this Tesla won’t be the exception. I do hate taking my cars to the dealership for warranty claims. We’ll see how it goes with the Y. Thank you for watching my video.

Tesla When I need fuel, I want it to be available! I watch the electric vehicles lined up and waiting for a port at the fuel station on the New Jersey Turnpike. I’m not ready for electric and electric is not ready for me!

That has been my experience with other Lexus/Toyota products. I drove a truck past 250k and sold it running perfectly. The tires have a monitor and the pressure was always on point. The 3.5 engine is not the easiest on gas.
