We drive the new Lexus RZ450e, the first main stream electric vehicle shared on the same platform as the Toyota BZ4X. This new vision for the brand is dissected, and what it means for future customers. We discuss the pros and cons of what they did great and also why this is a vehicle to put on the back burner. Others to consider are Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Kia EV5.

I mean it depends. Its not personal its just looking out for the consumer on this one. Japan is publically touting brand new EV platform, gigacasting and solid state batteries to arrive within 3-5 years. So in good conscience why would I recommend anyone to spend $65,000 on a car that's obsolete already I said it in the video it's not a phone.

You should watch his review of the Mercedes EQB, arguably a better car that made him visibly angry. He was far nicer to Toyota. I thought this was a great review and very informative about Toyota. I think the question is whether or not Toyota is really going to catch up, make a Great Leap Forward, or fall father behind. I don’t think this car is encouraging. Did you see that instrument cluster? The one in the new RAV4 Prime is much better.

I think SG can have a tough-but-fair style, but just look at their review of the Nissan Kicks. I had one as a rental after a car accident and absolutely hated it, but Mark found the good parts about it and showed it to the world. Any manufacturer that has released a product that they are proud of shouldn't need to feel afraid of SG reviews. Release a quarter-assed product, though, and Mark is gonna tell it like it is.

@@savagegeese Totally agree with you on that. Speaking as someone who is mildly frustrated with how Google is trying to sabotage my Pixel 3 so that I am forced into buying a new(er) smartphone. On that note... since new cars are SO connected to the cloud, do you think auto manufacturers would ever follow that model of time-bombing the software so that the car eventually becomes unusable (even though it's still good)?

Not really. They want to make what is in demand but definitely are working on BEVs. They don't want to make just BEVs or think just BEVs should be the future. But some BEVs, yes, should be the future and they're making Lexus all BEV by 2030 in some countries. I think the USA is one of them. By 2035 Lexus wants to be all BEV or at least all EV with maybe some FCEVs.

Wasn’t the CT200h a Lexus Prius? That car totally sucked. Maybe the new Prius Prime or whatever it’s called could be morphed into a decent Lexus. PHEVs are definitely the bridge technology for people who need to drive their EVs more than 150 miles with any frequency.

GOOD! EV's are terrible atm. You get a bigger bang for your buck with hybrid in that they cost significantly less to build and source, while giving you a very healthy MPG bump. The economics on EV's vs Hybrid are a no brainer if you calulcate from cradle to grave on ALL components/materials. Greenies love to just focus on the ass end of that equation which is "free transportation" in that it doesn't pollute. Yea you did 6 years of polluting to get to that point just to build the car your all hyped up for meaning you need to drive it 60k to get your carbon back to be "carbon free" meanwhile at 60k your resale has dropped like a rock and you probably have a new EV now. Which is BEYOND BAD when you factor all that in. Your worse than a ICE. FAIL.

I realized while watching this that the thing that most people realize about EVs is that it's not about range. It's the charging. No one even thinks about ICE car ranges because it takes 5 minutes to restore all your range. With EVs it's about range because charging takes a lot more time. Potentially orders of magnitude depending on your onboard and offboard chargers. 300, 400, 600 miles... It will never be enough if charging times don't go down.

It’s a change for sure no arguing that. The vast majority of charging right now is done at home though so it’s very easy to have a “full tank” every mourning and essentially never worry about range. Road trips are a different story of course, it takes more planning (less if you have a Tesla) and you can add an extra 2 hours to your trip for charging. No doubt ICE cars hold the advantage here

It's an issue I don't think will ever be solved. Fast charging will mess up the battery long term since it produces a ton of heat and is less efficient. It's why hydrogen is the best in between but that too has its own issues in terms of storage and capacity.

In China they have an automated public garage that swaps out your spent battery with a fresh one. Maybe some device like that could be implemented either in public garages or at home in the West. Then it doesn't really matter how long charging takes, it becomes about how quickly the battery/batteries can be changed.

This is the best review channel for the sheer candor. Y’all don’t obfuscate any of the issues by talking about all the good stuff and just mentioning the downsides. The problem is many of the good stuff cars have, all cars have and it isn’t special. Talk about drawbacks of ownership like the door thing. Great review.

Absolutely, unfortunately five years too late. Tesla, BYD, Geely, Hyundai/Kia and the Germans all have perfectly viable second and third generation EVs that people are willing to buy. Toyota is so far behind the curve you have to wonder when they will collapse under their debt load.

things like the electronic door handles and capacitive touch controls are total deal breakers.

I've no issue with the capacitive touch controls, except that almost all of my winter gloves won't work. That is a more reliable switch mechanism than a mechanical switch, especially if it depends on a silk screened rubber dome on top that rots away over time. The HUD for them though, is a different story, and I would rather not have touch-capacitive on the center stack as that is not tactile at all, will just cause more attention to be diverted away from driving, yet it already is with the touch screens any modern vehicle has.

Agreed. like the VW ID4, this has a few simple problems I just couldn’t live. Disturbingly these aren’t issues they just phoned in, these are issues they spent real time engineering and implementing yet got so wrong.

A family member of mine purchased one just like this, at Lexus of Arlington. He is a diehard Lexus fan, is retired, and really only drives about 5 miles a day. Perfect car for his lifestyle, as range is a non-issue. He test drove a Tesla Model Y, (didn't care for the minimalistic interior) and test drove a VW ID.4, which he liked, but once we sat inside the RZ450, he was sold. I will say, those who are looking to buy one, watch out for the ridiculous markups - another Lexus dealership in Illinois wanted 10k over MSRP for a base model RZ.....

Just picked up a Luxury trim - drives great and range is more than adequate for my needs. With used deals currently in sub $40k for used low mileage ‘23 I know when I see a bargain. But if you must have 300+ range from Lexus then keep on waiting. I’d rather be driving.

Kudos to Mark for calling it like what it is. If Toyota can’t come up with more than 196 miles in range after 10 years of EVs (leaf, Tesla, bolt), I don’t know why they are asleep on the wheel.

You must consider resale residual on this offering. A local dealer sold one for $67K, traded in one month later with 650 miles (tells you something about satisfaction) and initially listed the pre-owned at $61K. After 6 weeks on the lot, it is now listed for $55k. I expect it to fall to the high 40s or low 50s before it is sold.

Residual value after 36 months at 12K miles/year is at a pathetic number of 47%. Good thing is Lexus is having $15K incentive right now. Just got a quote for a new luxury model with MSRP of $67K for $48K, so why would one buy used when a new one is less expensive.

My concern (besides car prices and charging)… How will MFGs cost cut to ensure EV lifecycles are similar to ice counterparts. On paper, EVs should last longer… No way MFGs want that. Ultimately, the cost of ownership will be higher vs ice. Wait for home charging tax, charging station tax, etc. This isn’t about the environment folks. $$$

LOL its all a ecological green washing. The cobalt, lithium, and nickle needed for this "push" is devastating to the planet and humans mining it. What a racket, and NO its not about the environment. If we cared about that we wouldn't be doing coal powerplants. There are other larger lower hanging fruit for emission reduction through industry than forcing consumers to bend to make up for the fact they pump out toxins for us all in mass. They want you to sacrifice while they continue getting the money while fooling you to think you and they are doing good for the planet. LOL Yea right.

I frankly don't give a damn about most EV's. All of them are beta products, and we do not have good public charging where I live, nor do I have a garage I can charge in. By all means enjoy your Tesla or whatever else you may have, but EV's are not realistic for many people at this point in time. A good review from Savage Geese as always.

Even as beta products in some countries/situations they bring down cost of transport a lot. But your point is equally true. EVs have a place but they are certainly not the holy grail like some people like to claim. There are real drawbacks including environmental concerns. I hate to think how hazardous it will be to 'recycle' those batteries. Many countries will put them into landfills.

I don't know if Lexus wants or doesn't want them to review their cars and point out their horribly designed electronic door catch and everything else that is wrong with cars today. The thing is, I am someone who would never buy one of these new generation of cars. I drive a 2004 rsx-s and I hope I never sell it. But then I watch this beautiful sunlit afternoon drive that's shot in a way it's almost tangible, and it brings out what a luxury barge can do with Chicago-land roads, and I do find myself a little sold on the idea!

This review really just reinforced my opinion on new vehicles today, go out and buy the few remaining good ICE vehicles still on the market and hold onto them for as long as possible. I used to love that Lexus would not fall for all the gimmicks car manufacturers have been pushing on consumers, but if this is their future path, then I'm out of the market. Great job Mark for this review. As always the honesty and no bullshit is what I come here for.

To paraphrase… A nice exercise but don’t buy it… That summarizes it for me. Thinking about my long distance trips for vacations and to visit family that average 10 hours, I would have to stop every two hours and recharge? Why would I spend between $60,000 and $70,000 for a vehicle that has the potential to double my drive time?! (Assuming I’ll have to go off my route to find chargers and assuming they’re available. ) We just don’t have the infrastructure for this. I get this is probably a city only vehicle, but for that money, I would definitely buy a cheaper city run about. I’m fine with electrification, but for the foreseeable future hybrids are the way to go. I remember a couple of years back people chastised Mazda for saying that they’re developing their ICEs because they’ll be around in some form for at least the next few decades. I think they were absolutely right For now, Hybrids on the way to go.

Love the honest review. I do wish people would spend a little more time discussing use cases. The range on this car is a total deal-breaker … if you ever plan to drive it multiple hundreds of miles a day. But - 80% of the population lives in dense urban/suburban settings, and 60% of vehicle owning households have more than one car. This would be just fine for the suburban commuter who needs to haul a couple kids and their stuff to school and back and make a Costco run. The other car is the road tripper. The deal breaker for me on this car isn’t the range, but the lack of character, which Mark also hit pretty hard.

Agreed. I don't see myself buying an electric car anytime soon. I do use the one I have to commuting to work, but if I want to go on a road trip somewhere, that's a no go if I had an electric. My little Fiesta ST gets great mileage, is a blast to drive and I can go on a trip at the drop of a hat. I've heard so many horror stories about Charge America (or whatever it's called) that I wouldn't own an EV.

It might work for range for some people, but its also a terrible value vs the competition when you look at range. Typically cars made for that use case cost substantially less. This one is just bad.

@@JDsHouseofHobbies I have a Fiesta ST also, and I’m replacing it with either an EV or a PHEV (2nd kid won’t fit behind me as a driver). Fantastic, amazing car and totally underrated IMO! But - it exemplifies why EVs make sense for some use cases. I live in an urban area. My daily drive is a 25-minute, sub-five-mile crawl to drop kids off. Yes, I can use a bike trailer in nice weather; no, I don’t do that as often as I should. Firing up a gas engine to idle around for 25 minutes is the worst of all worlds: bad for the engine (never gets to full operating temp), bad for the ancillaries (condensation in exhaust; alternator working hard to charge up battery at low RPM), bad for the environment (cold engines run dirtiest), and not particularly fun - even though the ST is fun at all speeds. I also have a Cayenne Diesel for highway trips, family and dog hauling, towing the race car, etc. Short trips are brutal on the DEF system. So I need something a little bigger than the Fiesta, with enough all-electric range to avoid the ICE downsides, and I don’t really NEED 300 miles of range because this car will almost never take a long trip - that’s what the Cayenne is for (and it also gets 32+ mpg on the highway).

But the discussion of range without the discussion of actual use cases is what annoys me - on virtually all automotive channels. You never hear a review of a GT3 RS complaining about the lack of utility for hauling plywood …

Thank you for an astute analysis of what Toyota seems to be doing. I see these first models from them as place holders until, like you said, they can build commodity vehicles with next gen tech at prices that people can actually afford. So it’s almost like Toyota doesn’t want us to buy these because in ten years the current models of all the manufacturers will be obsolete and unwanted. Hopefully all manufacturers will turn away from the stupid controls and gimmick features and get back to simple things that are easy to operate.

Might be sweet in California. In Kentucky where I live, this is a pipe dream. Not only are these cars dumb expensive out the door, who knows what they’ll be like to own when they are sub 20k in price after 3-4 owners. I don’t see the point here

Not entirely. You could always look forward to converting an older gas car you love into an EV once gasoline availability begins to drop in a decade or 2. EV crate motors are a thing.

Remember when you used to get different engine configurations? Now it's different battery packs. Same generic motor with different kW battery. It's why the Chinese are capable of building a fast EV, doesn't make much engineering. There's no passion with the future, just weak people blindly following the establishment.

Not sure why you'd say that. EVs are fun to drive, plus they're quiet. EVs are fun to drive? I’ve driven them but I find them soulless. Yes they may be quick but that gets old fast. As the owner of a 1982 911 I love the visceral appeal of automobiles and the fun of rowing through the gears and the noise that comes with them. Your fart can comment is duly noted and I agree with you when I see kids trying to make a Honda sound like an older F1 car; that is annoying. Quietly zipping around in cars that will soon drive themselves fills transportation needs, but not my wants.@@OMGWTFLOLSMH

EVs are great appliances, but I guess the most depressing thing about them to me is, they are soulless. That's not all bad as an appliance, but just try to imagine Mecum Auto Auctions 40 years from now. Think the 2023 ANYTHING EV is gonna be on that stage? It would be like bringing a refrigerator out there.

My friend just bought one and he loves it. He’s got teslas too and is well practiced at making excuses for EV’s. I like the car fine but the screen is clunky to operate through and the AC just never gets cold here in Texas. I’ll stick with my dinosaur GX460

I love Lexus as a brand. I've owned 5, I flew to buy two of them. I have a '24 LC500 convertible on order. I've been to their racing school twice. We also just bought a '22 Chevy Bolt EV for $25K. It has more range than this car. It has wireless Android Auto. It has the same DC fast charging limitation as this car. In all other ways it is perfectly adequate. Not great, but adequate. I'm not seeing another $40K of value in the Lexus. I would be hard pressed to justify the Lexus at $35K, much less $65K. I knew after 30 seconds in the Bolt that the commodity EV is already here. I've had a Tesla 3 and Y as well, the Bolt EV is enough. Wife and I drove 170 miles the other day, running errands around town. Charging off-peak at home it cost us $4.60 to recharge. Don't get me wrong, I'll drive the convertible on weekends and enjoy it. But when I just need to be somewhere and want to do it as cheaply as possible, the future is really bright.

So it'll cost you about $10-15 bucks to get around 300ish miles depending on driving style and peak hours. I spend about $30-35 on gas to get 300ish miles in my latest gen Mazda3 hatch AWD, half spirited driving. But ICE on average is 15% cheaper to insure than EV. A Tesla 3 is actually more than 2x to insure than my Mazda3. Also, I don't need to install a 220 outlet to charge it. I can drive to the Shell gas station 1/2 mile from my house, or Cumberland Farms 1/4 mile. Takes me 5 minutes to get back to full range and be able to blast the AC without having range anxiety. Isn't time of value too? Oh and don't even say your Bolt is more fun to drive than a Mazda3. .89g skid pad with rock hard Toyo tires, I put on some Pirelli P Zero AS UHP and it is a backroad carving machine. When Trump was in office, gas was $2 in my area, a lot more now with Sleepy Joe. So it was costing me $20 to fill up when the low light comes on. Being a car person, I can do maintenance on my own and not have to pay high prices for software issues. So how much are you really saving with an EV? Don't bring up the planet, you're not really saving it when conflicts are going on for those mining lands and the lack of regulations destroying ground water and soil. Is owning an EV just wanting to be part of something that seems important while ignoring what goes on that MSM doesn't cover? A cultural trend of entitlement to show people you're environmentally conscious while ignoring child labor, violence, WEF getting rich off selling you an ideology. The future isn't as bright as it seems.

It's the appliance in our fleet: I'm going to use it up (cheaply), throw it away and buy another one. I only mention it here in the context that you can buy a cheap long-range EV today, you don't have to wait. I don't drive the Bolt for fun, I drive it for efficiency. I live at the bottom of a canyon in the Denver metro, when I want to have fun driving I uncover a 471 horsepower V8 convertible Lexus and take it up the canyon. I don't need to squeeze out some driving fun from my econobox in city traffic. Also, you can skip the second paragraph about ideology, that's not me. I'm a car guy. My last house had a 4-post lift in it. My next house will have a 2-post. I'm a registered Libertarian. You can get mad at the results of the political football game every 4 years or you can design your life to minimize the impact of those results. I've chosen the latter.

Toyota will not have solid state batteries in mass by 2026. They have been promising this for years. It’s very challenging to mass produce that tech. At least 10 years away if ever.

Once the new tech appears, all companies will adopt it and the current generation of these initial attempts at EV will fade away,becoming obsolete and be superceded by the next gen tech that addresses and resolves the drawbacks and failings of the current batteries we are now using...

My problem with this Lexus is the outward visibility .. especially for a SUV (or crossover).. And especially if you are over about 5' 7".. They made the roofline way too low and it looks like a low ceil cave. This low ceiling makes for a uncomfortable, cramped cabin. And with poor visibility, you get an unsafe vehicle that is too dangerous to drive. Lexus should have made it more boxy and raised the roof about 4 inches. This would have made the RZ MUCH better to live with - and MUCH safer to drive.

My buddy brought me out in a loaner RZ450e for a night and I had a chance to get in depth with it over the course of a few hours of just driving. The HUD is big but doesn't really provide any nice graphics like the BMW ones do and the customisation that you can do within the HUD for the stereo, adaptive cruise control, HUD settings and all is just bewildering. It would have been much easier to just put them in the main screen or on a stalk, and this blend of forcing you to look into the HUD is just weird. The mark Levinson sound system was pretty good for a stock system. The main display's settings were a pain in the arse to navigate, especially when you have to go through CarPlay, scroll through the pages to get to the Lexus App, then go to the settings, scroll through 3-4 pages worth of other things before finding what you want. The sound settings are also under media, not the car settings itself. The acceleration is pretty fun, but so are most other TVs at this point. This car neither charges fast nor is efficient. We used up 1/2 the battery doing about 90 km. Granted, there were occasional bursts of acceleration, but a rough estimate of 180km for a full battery is just worrying even in the context of a small city state (Singapore). It also took about 45 mins to charge from 19%-65% on a 50kW charger. We plugged it into a 60kW charger but it did not take in more than 44kW. That's all before considering the price. It goes for around 300k USD in Singapore, and a model 3 goes for around 175k USD. If you're going to go for a bland car, why not get the one with the better brakes, infotainment system, charging, overall experience and price?

After a while I approached someone and got told they are sold out for 1+ years and busy with deliveries. I wasn’t even interested in buying just wanted to see the updated product but man looks still old to me infotainment wise.

I test drove the new RX 350 and noticed a similar issue with the electronic door actuators on that model. Very tricky to open and close the doors on that tester. I think it has to do with alignment. The electric system seems much less tolerant to slight misalignments of the door assemblies compared to the mechanical system. That's a generic problem for mass production vehicles which will never have perfect alignments that should have been engineered into the design!

To be fair even non efficient EVs are dramatically more efficient compared to their ICE peers. Toyota and Hummer are fighting for the worst efficiency from an EV award and even they are much more efficient. The Hummer is rated 51 mpge city and 43 highway. No full size truck on 37s can get above 13 mpg.

I don’t understand why Japanese manufacturers always cheap out on the passenger seat. In a Civic you’ll have 6 way adjustable seats but 4 way adjustable passenger seats. On a luxury model you’ll have driver lumber but no passenger lumbar.

This is such a great review. You are totally honest about where Toyota is right now but you also explain where the EV vision is going. The problem for Toyota is that a Tesla Model 3 is $30k after the tax credit right now. The Tesla Model Y is in the mid 30s with the tax credit. Those cars already offer great range, performance, and even comfort for reasonable prices. Toyota is YEARS away from catching up to Tesla.

after 6 years driving an EV , it's not the capacity but the charging speeds that bother me. I really need an EV to be (almost)full and usuable again within 20 minutes, everytime.. but underway there are not enough charging points or fast chargers available, it's just too much of a hassle, we get used to it, but I'm going back to a hybrid

This fits the lease scheme perfectly. Lease for 3 years and replace with newer and better. Perfect for the consumer and giving a constant stream of income for the manufacturers (and lease companies). The downside is no one will want a 3 year old tech EV on the used market, just like phones today. The bigger downside is the disposal of the vehicle once no one wants it, the battery needs replaced, and its value plummets to near zero.

Some manufacturers are already repurposing car batteries into portable power packs and household batteries. The EV changeover will also make diesel or gas home generators obsolete for the majority of people, because batteries that are more than 20% degraded won’t work for a car but will be plenty fine for powering your house in an outage for a few days. That storage capacity will also provide the buffering that the grid needs if renewable generation (wind and solar) scales up, because they are of course never going to be stable sources like coal or NG fired plants. Fortunately all of these things are self-reinforcing over time

@@pieswimmer1 that’s a pretty major twist of both what I said and basic science, but you do you. If source generation isn’t stable, then other things are required to achieve the desired output. Grid buffering is that thing. Not rocket science. But some people complain about change rather than think about how to make change work for the better. Personally, I find it more productive to define the outcomes that are needed and work back from there.

neighbors wall charger caught fire, burned their house as well as next door neighbor's. The only way these issues, like EOL batteries, get fixed is by feds throwing gobs more money at it so consumers don't revolt. To keep the whole "climate crisis" ball rolling, DNC can't be run out of office.

As a BZ4X owner, you hit the nail in the head. Toyota made an appliance that is good and checks a lot of boxes, but the next generation will likely be a game changer. If they ever bring solid state batteries to market, it will change how EV’s are perceived.

For 95% of daily trips most people take 190 miles of range is adequate - if you can charge at home overnight. The big difference with 600 mile batteries will be the removing of the home charging requirement.

Good point about the 600 mile range for home charging, I don’t think EV’s make sense if you can’t charge at home right now. I disagree about the 190 miles of range as you don’t really get that. Add some real world factors like speed driven, heating or cooling and hills and you’ll get a lot less. So for those with a second car for long trips this is probably okay, but not a very luxurious range. It’s a small battery for a car of that size. Most have batteries in the high 70’s or low 80’s.

​@@peterfessier9780 I drive a Model 3 with supposedly a 240 mile range (55 kwh). In the real world at 85mph+ and in cold weather this is more like 170-180 miles. But this is still way more than my round trip daily commute of ~48 miles plus another 50 miles for errands. I've had the car for 3 years. Couple of times a year I need a 10 minute top up to supercharge on the way home if I'm driving way out of the suburbs (or if I forget to plug in when I get home). 600 miles will seal the deal and also bring parity with gas vehicles for towing (but still require home charging).

There isnt enough resources available to mass produce 80M EVs globally each year. Prices of evs wont be coming down. Especially once governments stop dumping billions a year in subsidies to incentivise ev purchases. Finally used EV resale values. They are tanking in the UK. Real people don't seem interested in buying used EVs. 10-15 yr old iCE cars on the other hand continue to see increases in prices.

Are there any sedan, 2-door, or hatchback commodity EVs available in the US yet? It seems like downsizing would be an easy shortcut to longer range with the same battery tech, but maybe the weight of the battery is such a controlling variable that the size of the body around it barely matters. Also we need smaller cars to address the pedestrian casualty crisis.

Just purchased 2023, got the 10,000 instant rebate, test drove, mileage works for me as I have a 2nd car, I’m not driving 80 miles round trip to work,,, I trust Lexus reliability over any car,,,, at the end of the day the you have to do what’s best for your situation,,

I leased the RZ 300e in April. The capitalized cost is only about $37k (Lexus gave 14k and the dealer knocked off another 6K). Looks terrific - however some of the switchgear (Charge port door, interior buttons) looks Toyota quality not Lexus. Range is 266 miles and from what I have seen it definitely looks like I will get it especially in City. I got it because it is Lexus not Tesla. I fully expect it to last 20 years with minimal maintenance. I drive less than 40 miles/day charge it on a 120V circuit - don't care about DC fast charging. Fully intend to keep it after the lease is over.

cheapest model 3 with rebate is 32k, even cheaper in some places. ive never charged more than 20 mins w tesla. usually dont have enough time to eat and go to bathroom. i do 300 mile trip w 10 mins charge for $7.50

I think Lexus should be embarrassed about charging $65k for an EV with 165 miles of range. That's a non-starter, no pun intended. But I have to disagree with you Mark about the styling. The Tesla Model Y is just a Model 3 with a taller roof, and is utterly bland. This is a stylishly crafted, elegant vehicle (if you ignore the black fender cladding). The first time I saw one, I was impressed by the elegant 'stitching' effect of the non-grille into the air intakes. My wife disagreed and called it ugly, so maybe I'm wrong, but I think it looks elegant and distinctive. Still wouldn't buy one though.

At 13 cents per kilowatt hour where I live, forget about it via home charging. I gas up even a full tank in about five minutes, and I'm on my way. I find your reviews EXTREMELY trustworthy without gimmicks or repeated catch phrases. Question: If a person wanted to lock something inside the vehicle cabin after leaving, since there is no lockable glove compartment, does the center console lock? Thank you.

It would only cost you $10 to charge a Tesla Model 3 with an 80KWh battery (around 330 mile range). So no, home charging is still cheaper than fueling up any car out there.
