Making good progress on the build! The engine is almost fully assembled now. One note I remembered after making the video is that my engine is from a 2004 Chevy Silverado. That truck has a drive by wire setup, but I needed a cable throttle, so I exchanged the throttle body and intake manifold with a 2002 engine that had higher mileage which is why the throttle body was so dirty.

Starting to look complete! That belt may be a bit too tight, but will slacken with break-in. Those knock sensors and harness are notorious for water intrusion, glad to see you sealed them up.
@FullySpooled7 жыл бұрын
I was hoping the belt would slacken a bit as well. Worst case I can always get one size up. I didn't show it, but the rear knock sensor looked like it was drudged up from the titanic so the RTV was necessary for sure.

Absolutely! Come on by. Really just need wiring and fuel worked out and then it should be able to fire up!

Another fun and informative video. Trying to figure out an unfamiliar accessory belt like that is a real pain. Had to do something similar on a then-recently bought subaru on summer vacation in a relative's garage after the AC belt disintegrated. But you got it done and it looks great! Looking forward to seeing more of your progress, dude.

Very nice! i bought an ICT Billet accessory relocation bracket kit from summit but they forgot to include the water pump spacers! Nice work and glad to see some progress!
@FullySpooled7 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. The ICT Billet kit looks good as well. I had to buy water pump spacers separately. These are SCRAM Speed spacers. Looking forward to updates on your SC!

Come on man and start this thing, you are killing me! Kidding, I know there is much more to be done. Love the vid as always. How much were those water pump spacers? A new proper water pump can't be that much more, eh? I would imagine you can also use the hole in the spacers for another temp sensor for a fancy gauge though? Either way it all looks really good when it's finally put together. Plus you install stuff right so it should actually be reliable.
@FullySpooled7 жыл бұрын
The spacers were $45 and a new 2010 water pump that will fit is around $115 for aftermarket or $150 for OEM. I'll definitely be using the hole for the steam vent and I can always tap more if I need to later on. Thanks for the comments as always :)

Hot damn! I'm used to Japanese water pumps that cost $35. :P

Yep you could probably fit an entire Japanese water pump inside the LS pump pulley alone. :)

if your going to boost that thing, no need to knock sensors. That's my 02, looking good. I made brackets to use factory SC300 power steering, A/C, and alternator fit my LS engine.
@FullySpooled7 жыл бұрын
john S I will be boosting it down the road a bit. I want to get it running NA and get some track time before installing a turbo. Smart idea to use the Lexus power steering. If I didn't already have all these parts I'd go that route too.
@Itsme-mx5tl7 жыл бұрын
Fully Spooled what efi system you going to use? Holley, stock with HP tuners, Haltech, ect. You going to run single or twins?
@FullySpooled7 жыл бұрын
john S good questions. I need to research all that still since it's pretty far off. Most likely a single turbo and HP Tuners to keep costs and weight down. Lots of research to do there.

Awesome job! It's so much easier to work on the LSx motor and the engine bay is so roomy now.

So roomy... We'll see once the radiator and things start going in, but yeah it's way easier to get around now than when the 1uz was in there.

Hey Jeff, great stuff bud. I’m loving your videos as a slight guide on what I need to do to run a 5.3 in my 240sx. I’m currently at a stand still because I can never get to a sale post in time before the fbody ls1 brackets or accessories are gone... the other issue is, people want so much money for these items. How has the Lsbracket.com been for you & would you recommend it as a safe & viable option for other budget friendly diyers?
@FullySpooled6 жыл бұрын
There's no need to wait for the F-body accessories anymore. There are lots of options out there to use either the truck accessories to fit the car intake. The lsbrackets.com bracket seems to be working for me. I haven't started the engine up yet, but I don't foresee any issues there. Another option is the ICT Billet. They have good prices and a LOT of options in their catalog. Thanks for watching, and glad it's helping!

Is it possible to fit the truck manifold? I wouldn't think so because of clearance with the hood
@FullySpooled4 жыл бұрын
The hood isn't an issue with the truck manifolds, it's how far the manifolds stick out on the sides and how big the flange is. You'll have to get car manifolds unfortunately, or aftermarket.
@adrianhayden74304 жыл бұрын
@@FullySpooled Perhaps you say it in one of the videos, but how much did the swap cost you overall? Do you have any documentation of the expenses? I'm considering doing one myself
@FullySpooled4 жыл бұрын
OHH you mean the truck intake manifold. Sorry, no that will not fit. You would need to cut a hole in the hood. Sorry I thought you were talking about the exhaust manifolds.
@adrianhayden74304 жыл бұрын
@@FullySpooled Yes haha! Was very confused
@FullySpooled4 жыл бұрын
@@adrianhayden7430 It costs about as much as any engine and transmission swap. It varies greatly depending on what engine and transmission you buy, and how much you make yourself vs. how much you buy from vendors. If I were doing it over again, I would buy an LS1 or LS2 drop out with transmission included. That is your biggest expense right there. You can buy a truck engine for pretty cheap, but then you need the car accessory bracket, car intake manfiold, car water pump, exhaust manifolds, etc. It all adds up. If you buy the full engine and t56 together, you really just need mounts, F-body driveshaft, rear diff adapter, and then miscellaneous fittings and other stuff.
