Really excited about this episode. I am finally starting to see how the Lexus will look and feel on the track and it's getting addicting. I'm still working on my wiring, which will probably be released as a three part series since it takes quite a lot to wire a race car from scratch.

That steering wheel and mount look really really good. That you had about as much telescoping left in the steering column as the quick disconnect added was a nice serendipity.

It was absolutely serendipity. I honestly don't know how much I'm going to use the quick release since there's so much room inside the SC. It's staying on for now, but later on I might just remove it and bolt the wheel straight to the hub. I need to see how it all works at the track.

Nice stuff! You should probably blue loctite those nuts as vibration from a race car can probably shake them loose later on.

Dokk Tekk I definitely will after trying out the wheel with the quick release. I’m not 100% sold on using it yet and want to see how it all feels when I start driving.

Why is the quick release orientation/release mechanism backwards/reversed from all other mounts?

That was the style that DND made at the time. I believe they have since redesigned it to be the correct way.

The ProCar seat is a temporary seat. I would love to rock a DND seat. I’m waiting for them to start making an FIA certified seat though. I don’t want to spend money on another seat until I can get one for comp use.

Awesome man! How's the hub and steering wheel holding up? My sc400 i currently getting hurricane long tube headers and custom fab exhaust work done so i might be getting an aftermarket hub and steering wheel while it sits

The hub and wheel have held up great. DND has a good reputation for making quality steering parts. Highly recommend (I'm not really sponsored by them anymore, so this is me saying this, not the sponsorship)

I love your content! I need to know how to get my steering wheel to move up and down in my SC. How exactly did you get yours to move without the switch?

I took a wire connected to the positive side of a 12V source and a wire connected to the negative side and touched them to the wires for the motors on the steering column. It's the two wires with the white connector hanging off the column in the video. The motor closer to the steering wheel moves the wheel up and down, and the motor farther back move it in and out. Just be sure not to touch the two wires together!

I don't know how all these "steering wheel yank & tug tests" came about... Personally, I've never felt the need to pull on my steering wheel like an angry gorilla.

Logan Davis a lot of the more inexpensive wheels like those bought on ebay can be flimsy and possibly fall apart while racing. The pull test is one way to make sure there aren’t any problems with the wheel before flinging the car sideways at 60mph. If a wheel can feel sturdy when stress testing by pulling and pushing on it, it’ll probably be ok in normal use.
