👌 I think the mispronunciations were a way to say: ‘bigots’ are ignorant. However, with Archie, you see he has a good heart and he struggles with the way he was raised and what is truly right, moral and just. You can see Archie’s expression shows when he has no basis for an argument. He gets frustrated and basically says that’s the way it is bc he can’t handle that he doesn’t believe anything he was taught. Amazing writing. To some, ironically, this show brought so many ppl together ☮️. Classic. I hope you cover some more Sanford and son also. I was raised on it.

The cool part of scenes like this for me is that they're never ultimately about the subject the characters are discussing, but rather about one character (Archie) being incapable of accepting other people doing harmless things that he simply doesn't care for personally. So each scene is basically a model for the entire relationship between these two characters. And on top of that, they're also hilarious.

If you want some of the deeper scenes of the show, you have to find the clip of half-drunk Archie telling Mike about his childhood and what his father was like. Insight that doesn't excuse Archie's attitudes, but lets you understand him better.

Oh, you need to see how many MORE times Arch picks him apart for other things. The fishing trip they were going on, and Meathead got up late, and had to hurry up getting dressed, and Archie yelled at how he was putting on his socks and boots, then there was the time Arch and he had to share a bedroom and he let him sleep in an old army cot, and of course...he wasn't getting under the blanket right, according to Archie. So funny. 😅😅

In the UK a Courgette is the British word for a zucchini. Zucchini comes from the Italian word “zucchino”, which translates as “tiny squash” or “undeveloped marrow.” This speaks to zucchinis being a summer squash, which are harvested early and served while the seeds are still soft. ... Courgette means the same thing, only in French. I wonder if one of the army of script writers had that knowledge so went with Couzinni. I eat like mike, the peas go cold if you leave em.

There is an episode named "Two's a Crowd" where Archie and Mike share a very touching moment. The two are accidentally locked in the store room of Archie's Place. While locked in there, they drink alcohol. This is when Mike learns why Archie is the way he is; where his prejudices come from. It's because of his father's ideals. Archie talked very child-like, endearing and defensively about his father, even though it seems his father was a bit abusive. This is the only episode in which Archie uses the word "n!gger". It's a very emotional episode.

I grew up with this show. The four characters and the working chemistry between them was irreplaceable. But make no mistake... the underlying theme and objective of this show was to make republicans look stupid. There is ZERO doubt on that. Carroll O'Connor, Rob Reiner, Sally Struthers and the show's creator Norman Lear were all flaming radicals. Not sure whether Jean Stapleton was a radical but she most likely leaned left. In fact Rob Reiner to this day is still very much a Meathead..
